- Today we will be turning some laminated wooden beams into a great grey owl! This is one of my new favorite birds of prey, they are just epic creatures! I used titebond III for the lamination along with some 1/2" dowels for added support. There are several more owls on order so I apologize if the owl videos are getting old lol! I will be working on the Pennsylvania chainsaw carving event and competition videos early June when my schedules opens up slightly. Can't wait to share more with you all!

After watching a number of your videos, I subscribed to your channel. I did so for reasons other than just your formidable artistic abilities and expertise with all manner of wood shaping tools. It is just refreshing to see an intelligent, articulate, personable young person with unbridled ambition trying to build a successful business and life for herself. Good Morning Tay, this vid was in my suggested list this morning and I have zero clue why. Needless to say I'm in awe of your amazing skill and creative genius. He's the coolest carved owl I've ever seen. Watching you do the finer work with the chain saw kinda blew my mind a LOT. One point that may or may not interest you. I'm a guitar junkie and have built a few over the years. The art of laminating the wood together is what makes or breaks a solid bodied electric guitar. I'm no wood expert by any stretch. I did use a really high end planer to get the straightest edges possible before gluing and clamping the body up. Once all was said and done, even with a just a few light layers of nitrocellulose laquer with minimal tint, my seams are not visible. If you haven't tried that approach on your laminated pieces, it might be worth the time. I used a friend's planer as they are insanely expensive. I'm normally not an art guy, but I was so fascinated and impressed with what you created here, I'm subbing. I'd love to get a price from you on creating a wood carving of my Brown Newfoundland in maybe 1/4 scale or perhaps even a tiny bit smaller. I don't know if you'd even consider such a project, buy holy cow, your work is just over the top fabulous. Cheers from way west of Chicago. Thanks
I don’t have access to a planer or jointer unfortunately but I did just get an electric hand planer! I’m laminating another project for later this month and it has come up better with the use of the hand planer! I’m still new to all of this and building up my tool arsenal as I need and can afford things!

Looks great, love the addition of the bark to the base! Feathering and airbrushing are always my favorite parts, it's what brings the carving to life!

I love owls, my grandmother sculpted owls out of clay that we dug out of natural clay banks along a river. We (The family) dug clay to make bricks for my grandparent's home and the bricks are some of the most beautiful bricks I've ever seen. The owl sculptures were their biggest sellers are art and craft shows. She also sculpted other animals such as bears, cats, etc.

I bought a Dewalt cordless chainsaw almost a year ago and haven’t opened the box yet! Why did I buy it? Because TayMarie makes it looks so easy and fun, I know I want to try carving. Trying to overcome some health issues that limit my breathing ability. Until then please keep making videos TM, you are an inspiration!

I'm in Kalispell, I did go to the first one they had in libby but I didn't compete. I have only competed once up in eureka a few years back. My son lives in libby. Are you going the the libby show this year? It would be great to meet you.
I’m working on it, the drive is over 40 hours one way and my little old truck just isn’t that reliable so if I go I would have to fly but then I don’t have tools. That’s the current dementia, making sure all that is sorted out before I commit!
Oh ya gotcha. Wow 40 hrs. That's a long drive.
