Thank you for the encouragement! Wood is my favorite medium for art and sculpture! It's so readily available and natural. I also carve woodspirits in cottonwood bark! I just gave 10 of them away as Christmas presents and everyone absolutely loved them. I found a cottonwood tree that was cut down a couple years ago and harvested a truckload of bark. Turning old wood into art is a passion of mine! I can easily tell that you're extremely passionate about your work as well by the quality pieces you're doing! Some day I may have to try it! Thanks for sharing your talent with the world! Keep on carvin!!!😊👍🙌
Aww thank you! That was very kind of you to make spirit faces for your friends and family this past year! I have heard cottonwood bark is a joy to work with!
After watching a number of your videos, I subscribed to your channel. I did so for reasons other than just your formidable artistic abilities and expertise with all manner of wood shaping tools. It is just refreshing to see an intelligent, articulate, personable young person with unbridled ambition trying to build a successful business and life for herself. You remind of an old Smyth Barney television commercial that I’m sure predates your birth, the gist of it was “We make money the old fashioned way, we earn it”. Thank you for the great content, keep up the good work!
Wow! I'm a bird carver also. Not chainsaw but I use dremel. Your project turned out so awesome! You have great talent with a chainsaw for sure!!! Just wow! I'm carving a full sized redtail hawk now with his wings out. Going to mount it on a fencepost. Took a photograph of one in my backyard sunning himself with wings fully expanded. I've been wanting to do this project for several years now. It's going extremely well but slow. Your owl has given me the drive to keep on going with my carving! Thanks for sharing your talent with the world! 👍👍👍👍👍🙌
All wood craving takes patience, it's one of the harder parts of the job! Especially while working will just hand tools, I'm sure its slow going! Just keep setting small achievable goals and keep your pace, you will have a finished product in no time and you will be proud you stuck with it!
It really is! It's very soft and easy to power carve! When you spray the sealer on it turns a beautiful rusty red! I've done some indian faces but mostly old bearded spirits who all have a pipe stuck in their mouths!😂 I'm looking forward to seeing more of your carvings! Take care!!😊
You have a new subscriber here. The details you put in your work are what did it for me. Being a bit of an artist myself I appreciate the details. I always liked to make my work look as real as I could. You do a good job with that. Art seems to have a way of connecting people. The internet allows the connection on a global basis. I like that. I watch a lot of videos about many things from people around the world. It feels like I know the people somehow. It feels like love in a sense that transcends the physical. You're an asset to the world. Carry on.
I love owls, my grandmother sculpted owls out of clay that we dug out of natural clay banks along a river. We (The family) dug clay to make bricks for my grandparent's home and the bricks are some of the most beautiful bricks I've ever seen. The owl sculptures were their biggest sellers are art and craft shows. She also sculpted other animals such as bears, cats, etc.
I've run out of great things to say how sweet all your carvings are, and the painting is awesome, my favorite is the log he is standing on great finishing touches. thank you for sharing with all of us
Wow, I can’t wait to see the finished owl! Your craftsmanship is always top-notch, and the great grey owl is such an amazing subject. Keep up the incredible work! Another owl? No complaints here! I love watching your process and learning from your techniques. Can't wait for the Pennsylvania chainsaw carving competition videos too!
What an amazing end to an incredible project! It was well worth the wait! Thanks again Taylor for your amazing work and incredible kindness. We will cherish this experience forever. ❤️
It's people like you that bring such beauty into this world with your vision, creativity and talent...being an RN is a noble profession, but creating such wonderful uplifting sights is what the world needs as well, and very few people possess your talent to do that. Btw, the Grizzly was amazing!!
I've been trying to find myself. You have inspired me to pursue my creativity! For far too many years I've been doing a job that is less than unsatisfying and I thought I had lost my creative nature. I stumbled across your video and reawakened my soul. Thank you so much
Always do what makes you happy, live humbly, and be kind! Never loose touch with your creativity, it’s suffocating! Life is too short and we only get so many trips around the Sun so let’s make the most of it! 🫶🏼
Phenomenal carving and paint scheme and I like how you design the bare wood for a perch also nice job with your editing makes it enjoyable to watch. Continued success to you.
Your channel got me interested in chainsaw carving. I checked out a few others and can I say none have managed to capture my attention like your channel. The whole format and your chat is brilliant. You go girl !
I really appreciate that! I'm trying to keep it entertaining while also educating people on this amazing art form as well as the subjects I carve 😊 so happy you are enjoying them!
I bought a Dewalt cordless chainsaw almost a year ago and haven’t opened the box yet! Why did I buy it? Because TayMarie makes it looks so easy and fun, I know I want to try carving. Trying to overcome some health issues that limit my breathing ability. Until then please keep making videos TM, you are an inspiration!
Makes our little NZ owl...Ruru or Morepork (sound of its call) look kind of insignificant. Nice job!. Something about a girl who can drop start a saw. Handy sort of a lass!
Ok so; (more than) handy with a chainsaw, an incredible eye for details, an artist.... I've used chainsaws for cutting down trees, but this is simply another level and I'm betting not the intended use of said chainsaw... :) Take my subscription, now!
Great job Tay! Thanks for sharing your handiwork! Looking forward to your competition vids! Great work! Hi to Nami! Hope you pupper are doing great! 👍👍👍
Hello friends. I come from Vietnam. I am a 24 year old girl. I just left the city to return to the countryside where I was born. I'm starting to shoot videos about life where I live. I hope to receive everyone's support. Thank you very much❤
You’ve outdone yourself again. Amazing! Any plans for objects other than animals coming up? I see your videos and makes me want to make a fire hydrant out of a stump. But I don’t have the artistic skill of seeing it in advance. Your animals are incredible and looking forward to your upcoming videos. Yay!!!
I have a human arm and a 2D flower sign coming up over the next few months but it’s mostly animals…which I’m not mad about! I’m surprised I haven’t gotten a car or tractor order yet, that would be super cool!
This owl is my wifes and my favorite , you are so talented and your detailing is spot on along with panting , we would like to know what it cost if possible ,KEEP IT UP !
One of my favorites as well, they are stunning creatures! Feel free to email me and we can discuss options! I’m booking well into summer currently! Have another great grey on order later this month!
Awesome carving. I wonder how much it weighed once it was finished. Also have you ever considered using a thin layer of clear epoxy over the eyes to give them a glossy look?
I believe this one weighed around 16lbs, a bit lighter than most since it was drier wood! I use a gloss varnish over just the eyes, I might not have gotten to it before I took these after shots 😊 Epoxy is a great idea too!
Hey your progression is fantastic!! Love your talent. I have been chainsaw carving over here in Montana for 26 years. Your also good at producing the content for video's. Wish I was. Great work!!!😊
I'm in Kalispell, I did go to the first one they had in libby but I didn't compete. I have only competed once up in eureka a few years back. My son lives in libby. Are you going the the libby show this year? It would be great to meet you.
I’m working on it, the drive is over 40 hours one way and my little old truck just isn’t that reliable so if I go I would have to fly but then I don’t have tools. That’s the current dementia, making sure all that is sorted out before I commit!
Oh ya gotcha. Wow 40 hrs. That's a long drive. Well if there's anything I can do to help let me know. I got lots of saws and tools you are welcome to use 😊.
Had to subscribe to your channel after watching this video😊 Awesome video by the way. I had a Great Grey Owl on my fox bait this winter, munching roe deer ment for red fox, but that's an other story😄 It must be very satisfying having the creativity your have when it comes to wood carving. Anyways thumbs up and greetings from Norway 🇳🇴
Amazing carving as always. Hope my owls look half that good one day. I am curious about the stains and paints you are using. If you don't mind my asking, what kind of paint/stain are you using for your base coats, notice the first application was white and then grey. Also, what sealer are you using after the painting is complete?
For this project specifically I used interior miniwax and varethane stains and ebony and classic black for shadows. Then in the airbrush I used oil based whites and black for the markings. Once dry it’s all sealed with 3 coats of Spar Urethane

Well Done, That Looks Amazing,
Another fine carving. May I suggest a coating of clear flat to remove the glossy ness Thank you !
Fantastic carving!
I think when you break out the paint brush and air brushing and start covering up the laminated wood with paint…
If I was carving pieced for myself I probably wouldn't paint many, I love the look of wood! But doing what I want doesn't pay the bills 😊
wow, that was bloody amazing! Beautiul and talented

It’s a niche market and you likely don’t get the plaudits you deserve because of it, but you are insanely talented. Loving the videos.
