    Hey, I saw this video from the comments last day from Piximperfect and you made it for GIMP. So, you actually listen to us. That's nice to hear that 😊

    Excellent presentation. A complex task broken down into relatively simple steps. Many thanks for this.

      Thanks! Just watched your video on Blender getting removed from TH-cam. I didn't realize they did that to Blender - messed up! Great content.

    I searched for this for few days after viewing the video from piximperfect (nice video BTW), I was searching if there is a tool/Script-Fu Python-Fu acting like the photoshop's _vanishing point_ That is not what I was expecting, but that's a very good way to have the same result, it is efficient and quite fast as well. Great video!

      I'm also hoping for a plugin that will provide a more formal solution to this down the road (as you described), but this certainly gets the job done for now. Thanks for watching!

    What's the difference between doing it this way and just using the perspective tool?

    I have a project I thought this might work on but I don't think it will. For the life of me I can't recall what it was you did. I want the ripples of the fabric beneath and the image on top look like it's part of the fabric. If that makes sense. Like a person wearing a lap blanket and a picture laid on top of the blanket that makes it look like they're part of the same fabric.

    Is there any difference between using paste (ctrl-v) then create new layer, rather than using edit-paste-as-new-layer (alt-e / p / a) ?

    • @DaviesMediaDesign
      @DaviesMediaDesign  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope - and that’s a much more efficient method!

    One question: while removing the pattern from the subject's skin (step after alpha to color), why did you duplicate the subject layer and apply the mask there? Wouldn't it be more efficient to add a mask to the pattern group? Or does the alpha to color not work with a mask? Thanks.

  • @4kiitieslady
    @4kiitieslady 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there a reason why you didn't continue the 9th step all the way to the left, to match the top of step 10? It looks unfinished, as the pattern isn't showing under her legs - it's just plain concrete that is quite visable. What additional steps would you take if you wanted to pattern the entire step planes (left to right)?

    Hi guys. I just got me an Intuos S. It's a nightmare to set up. When I get GIMP to detect it (which seems random, I don't know why sometimes it appears in the input devices list and sometimes not) I have an annoying issue with the pen button. Whenever I change the actions assigned to them... they perform both the previous, default action, and the one that I chose. One of the buttons is "right click" by default. I have change it to be opening one of the radial menus... now it does both simultaneously. It gets more annoing with the second button that is by default set to "scroll". Whenever I map some other function... it enters the scrolling mode at the same time and gets stuck in it, no way to cancel, release it, can't even close GIMP, as nothing else is "clickable" while it is stuck, need to alt ctrl del out of it after each attempt to fix it. I have looked everywhere for a solution, but found none. I would be grateful if you have any useful suggestions.

    I love the tutorials! I have a problem with the step around 5:30. When I am on the Perspective Rectangle Layer and Alt+Click, make sure I am on the Perspective Rectangle Layer and then fill with foreground - it fills the entire layer. I have tried using Alt+Click, Ctrl+Click, and every combination of Shift/Alt/Ctrl+Click. Is there some setting I have missed?

    • @cruztijerina9855
      @cruztijerina9855 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try "Alpha to Selection". You need to have the marching ants around the rectangle before you bucket fill.

    I didn't understand what you said here 5:37. Could you please clarify? If it's "alt + mouse click", than what does this command do, because it doesn't seem to work in my gimp? I'm using version 2.10.18. Thanks for the tutorials! They are awesome.

      Right-click on a layer and after that click on Alpha to Selection

    With such a complex project you see what is possible with Gimp. On the other hand it always looks much more complicated than with Photoshop. What do you think about the time saving with Photoshop? Did we really need more time to get the same good results with Gimp? Or is it even as fast?

    • @omongemoderno
      @omongemoderno 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the task. There are tasks that are faster to do in GIMP and tasks that are more difficult. It also depends on how the person does the task.
