Kooky Tutorial - SLOW STITCHING A JOURNAL WRAP - Part one

  • Hello my lovelies!
    For those of you who have been waiting for the tutorial for the journal wrap then your wait is over! This is part one - the setting up and prepping of base materials including some lovely relaxing slow stitching of the inner fabric.
    You will need:
    Felt
    Wadding
    Two materials to use at front and inner
    Scraps of gloriousness to cover your wrap with
    Thread
    Needle
    Scissors
    Beads
    Sequins
    Embellishments
    I use a wool blend felt which has a high percentage of wool and I recommend that. I order my felt from Paper and String:
    www.paper-and-...
    Craft felt is not strong enough to hold all the stitches and may start to fall apart so I don’t recommend it in this project unless you can get a really good quality one. If you are allergic to wool then maybe a thin cotton wadding would work also.
    Cotton thread used:
    DMC COTON PERLE 8
    ANCHOR PERLE COTTON
    AURIFIL 12
    The next part will be all the glorious picking of fabrics to go on the front - a favourite part of mine - auditioning fabric and thread!

    Hi Tori, I am so, so loving all your videos. I adore your journal wrap. I'm going to make myself an A5 size one and then I will make some smaller ones for Christmas presents. I've got so many gorgeous bits and bobs in my stash and I've made a large crumb quilted hobby bag. I embroidered on top the the patchwork and then added pretty notions. Each area of the bag tells a little story. After finishing this, it took me months to do, I had withdrawn symptoms from it. But guess what? I found your channel!!! You have given me such fantastic ideas and given my mind and fingers a new lease of life. Thank you so much for sharing your talent x

      Diane - you are so welcome!! I’m happy that my videos have helped in some way! 🥰. Your crumb quilted bag sounds fabulous - I love that you have a story for each part! 🥰❤️

      I have some wundaweb but my pieces tend to be very small and so it would be more of a faff for me I think. Maybe on bigger pieces :) x

    I am having a hard time finding the right size needle. If I can get the thread threaded, the needle is dull or huge.

    • @KoolKookyKreatures
      @KoolKookyKreatures  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A sashiko needle or a chenille needle is probably the best to use as the eye is bigger but the needle is sharp and not dull. I suspect the large eye needle that you are trying is a darning needle with a blunt end. Hope that is helpful! ☺️

      Thanks for the awesome tutorial. Just a question, if I’m not getting a ripple effect - is it because my wadding isn’t thick enough or is it because I’m going right through the wadding when stitching or could it be both? I’m really new to stitching of any kind. Thanks

    • @KoolKookyKreatures
      @KoolKookyKreatures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @rohanikamso9387 the ripple tends to come naturally as it is a running stitch going on one direction but don’t worry about it not being there. I’m sure your piece looks fabulous 🥰
