  • Well, it took awhile but I finally have an optimal setup for my Dreamcast and the RetroTINK 5x. Months and months ago when I first got the 5x, I won an auction on the excellent Packapunch cables which were out of stock at the time on the RGC website. The seller skipped out on it and cancelled the transaction. Next I preordered the HD15-2-Scart from Castlemania (DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM). After waiting 5 months and several calls to their customer service, it finally came in; only to not fit my trusty VGA cables and also have game breaking visual glitches and sync drops with Rainbow Six. Now, I have finally got my hands on the excellent Packapunch cables and Rainbow Six looks and runs great. As my previous setup was using a lower-quality upscaler and still was the highest quality capture of this game on TH-cam that I know of; I am pleased to finally show Rainbow Six on the Dreamcast in forced 480p using Codebreaker and upscaled to 1440p with the RetroTINK 5x-Pro and mClassic using an original disk and hardware.
Enjoy, and the action phase starts 13:46 (planning is half the battle).
P.S. - Dino Crisis on PSX up next!
All original games, no emulators. Thanks for watching!

Just got mine off eBay and yeah they are great. I already have a generic VGA cable which goes into the HD15-2-Scart but I don’t see any visual difference between the two. Both used with the RT5X. I trust the Packapunch more than a generic VGA and it’s less cumbersome but visually look the same to me. Gonna have to test it with my mClassic. I normally don’t use it because I like scan lines and mClassic ruins them.
As for your issue with the HD15-2-Scart, I had to cut part of the outer metal of my VGA cable so it would fit. When they 3D printed the adapter, they didn’t allot much room for the metal frame to fit. Trim the edge off where the middle row of pins are but the side that doesn’t have the pin next to that edge. Wire cutters and wiggling broke the side off and it fit fine after that. No issues with it either. TBF I’ve only played Crazy Taxi with it though but no dropped frames or glitches and it’s a burned copy.

The video quality on the HD15-2-Scart was good, but I was getting some gamebreaking video issues with Rainbow six so I just said screw it and got the Packapunch, haven't looked back and haven't had any issues with them. They are also very convenient, just plug them in and you have sound and video. Try the 1080p Fill resolution with the filter set to smooth, and EDTV LPF turned off. With the mClassic its pretty much flawless. The OSSC has a slightly smoother picture with its LPF but I also had many hiccups with that device too.
