Good to see you out working that Beta, if you can make the bike work better for you go for it, you have to work harder at riding skills the older you get. I'm 67 and still enjoy riding and working on trails, I was out over the weekend doing trail maintenance with one of our oldest members who is 82 and he still rides well, I hope I can make it to that age and still ride, a real inspiration.
As an "armchair" spectator, watching the pros like a Billy Bolt or a Tristan Hart, you look, well not at all like them. You have the skills of a " normal" guy. And you're not twenty something like our hero's are. It's inspiring (to me/us) to view what's it's really like to take on these challenges. Thanks for including these videos of your adventures.👍🏼
The fact that you took a second stab at the "do it again" section, after the first attempt was a phenomenal win. Goes to show you're serious about improving your skill range from success, to more successful!🤔😜🤣🏁
You are correct. The Dal Soggio Spheres are top of the line suspension components. His application of using a bladder for cartridge pressurization is brilliant and costly to manufacture. Everything about the Spheres is well engineered and high quality production. Try 325cc 2.5W Ultra Light Golden Shock Oil in the outer chamber.
Great video Morgan. My daughter and I are on day 17 of static balance on our motorcycles in the garage. 30 minutes a day and it's crazy the improvement, yet how much more there is to go. 🤘🤘🤘
Thanks Morgan, we all have our setup that we like. I appalls me when these trolls come on here to try to tear down your product reviews. I respect your feedback and thank you for sharing your ride and the scripture at the end!! That Beta is getting dialed in nicely!!
Enjoyed the video Morgan and kudos to you for redoing that difficult uphill @ 15:20. It would be cool to see a collaboration with @richlarsen / irctireguy for some private lessons on your hard enduro journey. Maybe he'll pass through sometime soon. To get better at enduro I bought a Beta EVO 200 trials bike and just bomb it over obstacles around my yard. At 46yrs its waay easier to do a dismount and thus less intimidating than the KTM 300 I normally ride. I've found that the skillset transfers over directly to the big bike. Might be fun for a change of pace being that they're so light and flickable. Good.luck. I always enjoy your positive attitude and your adventures!
Thank you Morgan. I used your videos to pull the trigger and mine is getting shipped right now. Not sure if I need TBT but I got Gil Greaves down the road if I need it. Love your content man. I trust your opinions. Screw the keyboard warriors and just keep doing you.
So many people think that all KYB forks are Triple S forks but those came on Yamaha's and even then if it is a Yamaha with KYB forks it doesn't mean they are the Triple S forks, the fact is if they are stock forks of any brand on any bike they can be made to work better and the really good stuff doesn't come stock on any bike. For me personally the older I've gotten the less I cared about being fast because your body diminishes with age and there isn't much you can do about it, I focus more on having fun and enjoy everything riding has to offer, staying sharp and improving or at least maintaining your skill level is important but your not going to get faster with age and that's just reality but when you really think about it who cares you don't need to be fast to have fun.
Hey your our there doing what we all wanted to be doing your doing great and you inspired me to ride more and i entered a desert race for the first time since i was 14 or 15 years old im 41 now and am proud i got 10th place but i finished a 100 miles it was hard core .
Nice! I've rode my fair share of hike-a-bike stuff in Colorado and Tennessee and I've taken video with a GoPro and when you watch it back it looks flat. What you rode didn't look too flat so I know it was tough stuff! Hey I do worry about you out there riding by yourself! If you were to get hurt (incapacitated) you would be in big trouble.
It was good to meet you last weekend at your shop. That thing doesn't sound like a KTM 300 at all . Thought it might be a 4's till I saw it closer. Good effort which is my calling card too.
Having your suspension set up right for enduro is a matter of sticking to the rocks with traction or spinning out on everything the bike touches….. having good suspension set up for technical rocks is key.
Looks like something Rich Larsen would have fun doing a training class on. I bet you could get him out there to hold a class for you and all your homies.
The beginning of this trail looks gnarly. I had a Rekluse on my old 350sx. They’re cool, but I don’t want to spend my money on that feature. Especially on a 300 tbi
I do feel the rekluse would have screwed you in some spots but do think it would have benefited you in a bunch of areas as well. ( its no silver bullet but any means )
I was thinking about buying the non race 300RR putting spheres in and upgrading the rear shock. To buy a new KYB shock from Beta is $1400. I couldn't find a used online. Still more cost efficient to get Race Edition.
It would be interesting to dramatically lower the gearing. I used to ride trials and the low gearing allows you to concentrate on line selection and technique. I can’t imagine how hot the trans oil must get when abusing the clutch like this.
@@highlandcycles I'm talking about a 10 or 11t CS sprocket. Have you ever ridden trials? It's the only way to get really good at terrain like this video. All the top hard enduro guys have a trials back round.
@@truthboomertruthbomber5125 I am going to go down to a 12 soon. They don't make a 10 or 11 for this bike. And yeah trials is definitely the way to go for getting really good at this stuff. Someday I will get a bike.
Someday will be too late. Also, you need to do schools to learn all the important techniques that are needed to ride the bike properly. Without instruction from high level riders all you learn is bad habits and no progress.

Huge props for sharing full experience, success and failure, feel most would edit out the non makes. Love seeing the whole journey! Cheers

That last big step up at 14:52 is definitely a killer !! Good job at giving a second go !
Wish I could ridden this one with you. Riding buddies seem to pull out more talent than when one is alone. I know the xtrainer loves this trail.
Love the video. Thanks for sharing!
Beta sounds great!
I think I got tired just watching your video, kudos for sticking with that climb and getting it done. Love seeing the Beta in its habitat.
Thanks 👍

That's some type 2 fun right there... Jebus
what a brutally brilliant place to ride a bike, momma nature loves us dirt bikers - thanks for the vid
I've got to give you props for doing that trail Morgan one of my buddies 4 wheels that in his custom rock crawler. Heck of an effort morgan good job

Hahaha. That’s awesome. Gil is the man

Sachs shock needs a Lanier adjuster in it. And a kyb piston. And a bladder.

That was kick a$$ man you killed it.
Sitting home recovering from a broken collarbone it’s giving me flashbacks watching this. Something about riding over rocks I just can’t get it.

Great review, Tuners I've spoken to say they can never get the Sachs shock right !! Get a KYB shock of a Beta RE and valve it
To improve slow balance try static balance drills in the garage, you can do them while injured. ;)
Yeah. That is a great idea
Great stuff. Thanks!
Reminds me of Penrose Commons Independence and Patriot trails. Great video. I've got a '23 RR but I kind of want a '24 Race, just because.
Always need more bikes

I’m actually working on that

I would like to see a little more effort put forth by you on this type of terrain! Joking! More than I would try!
"Factory Pakage" By Bryce Rivera @ Beta USA Paso CA. Best $1500 you'll spend on the bike.
IRCJX8 by far the best technical terrain tire I have ever used.
Me too.
wow!
But spheres cost how much? Plus maybe springs? Then you might need to revalve those as well?
They are crazy expensive
Looks like an awesome trail! Do you have plans to do any of the hard enduros this year?
Yep. I’m entered in the Moab one
I do feel the rekluse would have screwed you in some spots but do think it would have benefited you in a bunch of areas as well. ( its no silver bullet but any means )
Gonna need a kyb sss comparo with the spheres dood!
I have done it.
You missed out last weekend @ Endurofest!
I know 😢
I’m 67 but I have one rule to riding…..no rock gardens
That was good video funny too
What is that red dial on your throttle block for?
That is a T Rex Moto throttle. It is awesome
@@highlandcycles Got-Damn it’s good lookin too!💪 Do they make that for the 2024 KTM 300 XC-W?

Fuck that!!
HAHAHAHAHA!
How do you get you battery life on your camera to last so long? Also love the video it’s cool to see the beta shine in the hard stuff!
I have 2 batteries and this camera seems to do way better.
I’d love to see the trail without the GoPro effect. I’m sure that trails way nastier than it appears on camera.
Come on out. It’s gnarly
🤘🏼🤘🏼
You coming to TKO this year?
No. Too far

It’s geared down quite a bit. 13:50

Bleep BLEEP no. Not even downhill. No. Lol...
Or buy an xcw 😁
Thats not a trail its a rock pile!
As a novice rider it doesn’t even look fun
