    The carnivore comes in a full tang model that is quite reliable. I have put it through the paces in the back country of Texas and it has held its own. The model you have is the on that you will find videos of people breaking them. The people at camillus have fixed that problem with their new model. I like them so much that I bought three, and at the price point, that’s doable for almost everyone.

    Great video! Thanks for the effort. I love the BK series. I own multiple and even the wifey carries the BK-15 into the woods. I was already looking at adding the 3. Probably my next blade purchase. For those who aren’t familiar, the BK series has not only impressed me with the quality and durability of its knives but it’s a very cost effective series of blades plus Ka-Bar has great warranty and customer service

    Been following y'all for about the past decade.
    And I have learned so much cool stuff and Thanks!
    Now, we're both about the same age. And I don't know how you are doing the magic look, because my hair keeps getting more sliver and yours is looking darker than when y'all were just getting stared on YT!😎
    Thanks again for everything you do for your viewers!😀😀😀

    be honest - the Sp8 does everything the bk will do at half the price - the Sp8 is a warriors weapon - the bk does have some attractive feachres such as the smaller design but the sp8 is superior - you saw how it went through that thick wood - to my experience - the only limitation of the sp8 is the weight of the baton used to ram it through the target - instead of getting a smaller version of the sp8 i decied to strengthen my swinging arm :-)

  • @cassanoa
    @cassanoa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    SP8 is the king - inexpencive and powerful - i have never heard of one of these being destroyed - i looked everywhere and cant find a video that shows one being destroyed - in a ugly spot - this is the one you want bar non - everything i ever wanted to go through - this bad boy came through to the other side - i have mine from 1995 and its so good i bought another and a kydex sheath - cant buy a better urban survival knife at any price

    This video just came into my feed.
    I sort of like the Ontario. I had an SP43 that was outstanding. Gave it to my nephew when I got my first TOPS Tahoma.
    I do have a M4X Punisher that looks a lot like these knives. I do prefer my knives more “pointy”, but the M4X has proven itself a very capable piece of kit. 👍🏻👍🏻

    Bought the Carnivor on sale at VallyVorld so it performed better than I expected. If it broke while prying a door open, u still have a knife as long as the others. Irwin has a 1/8" thick double bevel chisel tool that I picked up for urban use, sharp and looks really tough.

  • @TheSimba86
    @TheSimba86 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I see they drilled 3 failure points in the QAB blade, and then the BK3 has a fail point disguised as a seatbelt cutter

    • @j12barron
      @j12barron 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheSimba86 seat belt cutter could have been at the bottom of the sheath.

    Camillus has a newer version of this tool that's tougher then the one in this video but the BK-3 and Ontario SP-8 are very good and very tough the QAB by Ontario without a edge would be good for light prying and because of the size easy to work with and store to have with you in emergencies.

  • @dlighted8861
    @dlighted8861 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the info on the Carnivore.
    I got one for next to nothing. Sure like the comfortable grip. I hope the breakages were due to prying. I would like to rely on it for light macheté and battoning work. Too bad you were leery to test it on battoning. I will have to let you know.🤗 I used a cleaver on bone and was very disappointed.
    The blade dented and wanted to chip. I will have to try the carnivore on that.🤔
    I do agree its too thin for prying open something meant to stay locked.🤗
    As far as a good pry is concerned.
    The shape is so basic. I think a man good with a grinder could make one. Thanks for the good review and ideas.

    The hook on the BK3 is not seat belt cutter. It is a paracord cutter. After breaching a door, a team uses paracord to secure the door behind then. The hook allows for a quick swing to exit that door.

    I had the Camillus Carnivore and it broke in half on me when I was batoning firewood.I now have the Becker Tactool and haven't had any issues at all with it.I got it satisfactorily sharp on my Work Sharp knife sharpener.Cuts 1" to 2" branches off easily.Too bad the sheath on the Becker BK3 Tactool doesn''t have a molle attachment on the back of it.I also had(someone stole it)the Ontario SP-8 but the edge on it just didnt make it though it was a super hefty blade.As for the Camillus Carnivore and the Ontario SP-8 I give them a thumbs down.

    Great video. Check out the Boker Cop Tool which comes with a sheath and designed by law enforcement. I also carry the silcock key and gravity hook with a powerful magnet attachment. Urban carry is awesome and there are hobo signs for use on your travels. Whole new world. I use the Countycomm's Back-sac because it's highly versetal and blends well. Oh also I grab a few rat traps and Amazon personal alarms for perimeter alarms and Urban traps.

    Lol, Love the opening scene with the BK3. I've owned one for 6, 7 years. It's primary purpose is "Urban Breaching Tool".
    I figure if I need to smash into a vehicle, through a door, etc. It's the right tool.

    Not sure I want anyone cutting my seat belt by trying to slide a sharpened drybar between me and the belt, first....🤷🏻‍♂️
    I do, however, have the SP8...the older version with the crosshatch sawback and leather "dangler" sheath.
    I've had it since '96/'97, before I changed from the Navy to the Army.
    It has cleared shrubs, vines, and even cut through chain link fence parts (too much zeal on my part while trying to clear away some vines, shrubs, and overgrowth on my property in Tennessee)

      Sadly this moron scooch will shill for anyone and anything and I know how shitty these knives are there are plenty of fail tests regarding them.
      Walmart tries to have these on sale but they stink.
      They try to use the word titanium on the package to fool customers.

    • @BelmontClan
      @BelmontClan 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Plus no one smart would use a knife to split wood, that's what hatchets are for or a wedge made from wood or metal.

    • @BelmontClan
      @BelmontClan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Jon Smith I'd rather pack a Gerber gator and have a saw and a machete together.
      I could just as easily saw off a small wooden wedge, and a hammer club to split wood

    Good demonstration; it certainly convinced me not to buy any of those. Of course, I own an old Imperial Type A-1 folding machete in full flap holster, plus a WWII USMC Hospital Corps knife. And in the last 20 years, I acquired a straight handled Busse Steelheart II. My Gerber sawback machetes are old enough to still be halfway decent steel. I made my prying and sheet metal rescue tool 40 years ago, by modifying a Vaughn Super Bar. None of these is sufficiently versatile. .

      @@arthurshoemaker7194 had one in the 90's and it was solid, used it quite a bit. The only failure I had was the top corner point chipping off while I was using it to shape landscaping blocks- something that point did really well. Eventually gave it to a friend who was in love with it.

    Looks like a lot of bad knife design choices - serrations on knives are more of a hindrance than of any actual use. They functionally ruin the best blades.
    And if I'd want pry-bar capabilities, I'd probably go with a pry-bar.

    Why are you useing an "urban" knife and not doing anything "urban" with it. The best urban survival knife hands down is the Gerber LMF 2.
