I have the Z3. The battery didn't bother me enough as I'm coming from a 7 year old Galaxy s7 Active (which I miss that line, by the way). I also got an s22 Ultra from work, also very enjoyable. A Co worker got the Z4. I'm ok with my 3 for now. When the Z5 comes out, I'm definitely upgrading at that point. The 1 flaw with the Flips I've personally noticed only as an owner is that the screen protector needs to be changed about once every 6 months due to the crease. More of your a heavy use. Reason being is the flexing back and forth allows for dust particles and skin oils to penetrate between the screen and the protector from opening and closing. It then just peels from left to right and right to left in the crease area. I have to change mine currently. The longer you wait, the more potential for that debris to cause scuffs.
I too would've preferred if they stuck with the matt frame, which would've been even better this year since the back glass panels are matt as well. Regardless, this is still a gorgeous phone and the main problem that stopped me from buying it last year, i.e. it's subpar battery life, seems to have been addressed this year. Now, if they could put even better cameras in it, it would've been perfect!
I feel that this time round they could have had a standard and pro version, the latter being the one with the improved cameras the same as the S series.

Have the zflip 3 but still going to wait before I upgrade. Waiting for the flips to get better cameras on them. They aren't bad but not what I would prefer
They gave me $720 canadian for my samsung galaxy s22. I can't get used to the low battery life on it. So I'm trading in for a flip 4 *UPDATE I love it. It's the best things of having a big phone but way more compacted than my 22 and has fast charging. Love it. If your on the fence. Go for it. You won't regret it

I had the flip 3 and i loved it so much. I upgraded to 4 only of 1 reason - to reset my warranty! My friend's flip 3 broke after 11 months of use and still covered in warranty and Verizon replaced it. I was worried that will happen to my phone because it'll be 1 year this September and if anything happens it'll be my loss.

So i decided to get a barely used flip 3 on marketplace..... i freaking love this thing!!!! Obviously the UI and Android are a bit if a steep learn....but im loving how infinitely more customisable and user friendly the OS has become. Coming from an iPhone 14pro there are some tech trade offs but im done with Apple and there closed approach.... great job Samsung
I'm keeping the 3 waiting for the 5 as want to see if they fix the front screen protector so many people have had to replace the screen protector mine bubbled up in the crease it was only 10 months old at first samsung would not replace the screen protector even though it was still under warranty as apparently its not covered by the warranty hear in the UK after I Complained they did it for free in the end .I know its only a screen protector but they advise you not to use the phone without it I would like to see this added to the warranty in future. I had the very first z flip and loved it but the z flip 3 /4 with its front larger screen is so much better It would be great to be able to answer messages on the front screen but i have my samsung watch to do that hopefully in the future the front screen will get bigger like the Motorola Razr.Great review as always from you

I would like to switch over to a Samsung for a Flip. I currently have 2 daily devices. Z Fold 4 and Moto Razr 5G ,but what's holding me back is the outer display not being very functional.
I love my flip 3! Yes it's a bit annoying that I have to open the phone just to check and reply message, but the ability to set the phone into L position and having it as a camera tripod is so useful for me, love taking it out and not worrying to find something to lean on to whenever I need to take group photos

If you're getting the Flip 4, just be wary of the screen protector bubbling up at the crease. I finally removed mine on my Flip 3 today at Ubreakifix AKA Asurion for free. Took only 2 minutes. It was only getting bigger and annoying to look at. We'll see how it holds up without one but I do take really care of my phones and Gorilla Glass Victus is very scratch resistant. Had I got the screen protector replacement, it would just bubble up again after 6 to 12 months depending on much I use it which surprisingly isn't much. I think if you only use one phone, you need to go for the Flip 4 over 3 just from the battery life alone. Since I carry two phones daily, I don't need the battery life upgrade. My biggest concern without a screen protector is if the black cracks starts developing at the crease? From what I've read, Flip 3 is durable enough without it unlike the previous two gens. It is water-resistant and the display was much stronger than the previous ones, so I'm guessing most likely not. Be a rare case if it happens. If it does crack, then c'est la vie. They're just material things. Will have it recycled. Warranty expires tomorrow. Will be using my other four phones that still works fine in 2022. I do believe Flip 3 will hold up well without a screen protector. If it doesn't, then I know for sure it will be the last Z Flip I'll ever buy. I'll stick to the Motorola Razr line. I much prefer their cover displays. My Flip 3's crease does feel less shallower without the screen protector. It actually feels nicer. Our screen protector for these foldable flip phones is basically when they're closed.
I had a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge collecting dust in my dresser. I saw the commercial with At&t deal and said, why not give Android another try, since I got the phone free with that trade in. If I don't like it, I still have my iPhone to go back to.
Biggest upgrades on the z flip 4 are 25w charging and esim. It feels like they purposely gimped the z flip 3 just to give people a reason to upgrade. Not that the z flip 3 was bad, but the lack of dual sim made it not worth it for me.
I would have liked to have seen more coverage about what has and hasn't changed about the cover display experience. I returned the Z Flip 3 because I couldn't even mark a notification as read, delete, or reply from the outer display, something you can do on the Razr and just about any smartwatch. It doesn't seem like Samsung has learned anything in a whole year. You shouldn't have to flip a phone open every time you want to delete an email or mark an sms as read. That's just annoying.
I left android shortly after the note 20U and the the flip 4 will be my return getting it as a secondary phone opposite my iP13PM. I tried the flip 3 last year and the battery killed the experience hopefully this year it’s better
So I have a 13 pro max and I’m thinking about getting the flip 4 but my question is I than watch so many videos on this phone and people have shown the camera quality on this video it looks so clear .. on this other video i watch it look so choppy and blury .. why ?
I wouldn't recommend it. I switched from the Z Flip 3 to the Google Pixel 6 Pro last week. It seems that the Z Flip 4 solves some problems of the 3, but not all of them. The screen brightness and cameras are bad on the 3, and they will keep being bad on the 4. Performance, battery life, and charging times were abysmal, and they seem to have been improved somewhat, but I am not convinced the changes are enough. Lastly, it gets annoying having to flip the phone so much after months to a year using it daily.
I switched from an iPhone 12 pro to a Z flip 4 and I'm loving it. Battery life gets me through the day no problem, cameras are great, and the folding form factor is just so fun. Got the blue and it's sexy af.
I'm thinking about upgrading as I have the flip 5g the one before flip 5g 3 and my phone screen is still perfect!!! Use it daily for banking and my investments and so far after almost 3 years it's still looks new!!! No issues and it's updated with latest software!!! It's really fast but I could use better speakers as it only had one and tiny screen on phone cover is useless!!!
See the gimmicks is something i will always use, i hated when Samsung removed dual recording on my s8+ it was a bummer along with pro video so the mouse trackpad feature i would use quite a bit.

Just realized I'm locked into my Flip 3 for another 11 months so I have to return my Flip 4 when it gets here. I'm a little bummed out but I liked the 3 and will trade it in, in a year. Just hope the deals are just as good next year.
If you are trading it in directly with Samsung you still owing money on the device wouldn't make a difference. At least is the case with T-Mobile but it shouldn't matter.
I don’t get it…if your still locked in with your flip 3, then how is the flip 4 on its way to you for you having to return it?..you wouldn’t be able to do that if you still owe $ on the 3…
When you dont get a compatible fast charger in a box along with a phone,, Battery will be always a concern for any phone (used pixel 6a had the same battery issue like flip 3 but both phons r good so far)
The Flip4 is nothing dramatic, just fixing flaws in the Flip3, and that was the minimum we should have expected. It is still a $600 phone sold for $1000 with the USP of it flips. That is subjective as to value, for me, it is an easy pass, but others may feel that the novelty is worth that premium. In the UK it is £50 more than last year and the deals are poor compared to the US. Secondhand values of the Flip3, unsurprisingly fell through the floor, as many bought this and the novelty soon wore off. They sell for under £300 now, so a 66% loss in a year! Even by Samsung standards that sucks. Expect the Flip4 to drop badly very quickly, so maybe wait 2-3 months and get it for 33% off new (with no trade-ins). Kudos to Samsung for the technology, but not sure what value it adds, especially for the price we have to pay for it. But people are buying them ATM, so although I am skeptical as to their long-term, only time will tell.
If you cross your eyes during the photo comparison a lot of the images are totally 3D. There's just enough difference in angles between the two photos that it creates a stereoscopic photo!! (cross your eyes until 2 photos make 3)
I won't be upgrading because I got mine on carrier with like 500 off for a broken iphone 6 someone gave me plus another 150 just for getting it. I have an s22u as well and I think I'm done with folding phones for now. I want a flagship camera, solid battery, and a screen aspect ratio that isn't completely ridiculous. I think I'll wait for the rollables. Shame LG mobile croaked
Every year people review phones for their camera not the actual phone...you're buying a phone not a DLSR camera. Its like if the phone is great and feature rich, it will get shit on cause of not so great camera performance.

Then they sent a different update later in the year after the release of the flip 4 and the battery became garbage again. If you don't already have one I'd get the 4 or wait for the 5 to come out.

PRECISELY what I've been saying in all my posts - by reserving in advance of the Unlocked event, getting all the upgrades/credits/freebies, Sammy is essentially paying me to hand them my 3, for a 4. "tougher than expected" 🤣🤣🤣 mine slipped out of my hand while I was putting it in my pocket and it broke the phone. It won't open more than 90° and the halves are misaligned. Cost me $100 (+ $150 for the Samsung Care that I got a few days prior). Luckily I still have some time before I mail my trade-in or else I wouldn't have a phone to use.
Samsung really screwed everyone when they quietly and recently reduced the trade-in values for all versions of the Z Flip 3 except the Bespoke Edition. There are several review videos like this one that are now technically providing incorrect information.
I think the 4 is more for those who were holding off the Z Flip3, I appreciate the refinements however I'm not upgrading from my Flip3 I'll upgrade next year. I try and do two years these days unlike the early iPhone days I would upgrade yearly.
They're nice but that crease over time looks nasty. I favor the Moto Razor hinge mechanism and over all profile. I'd love to see a comparison between the two.

Z Fold's battery is slightly bigger with a slightly smaller front display (its interactivity can be improved with coverscreen OS) and 120HZ over 144HZ which means better battery life. Plus Samsung chose water resistance over a creaseless panel. Substance over style.

The shape and design is so similar that the case I bought for my Flip 3 fits perfectly on the Flip 4...
My flip is 3 and I got the flip 4 case and it’s not perfect
The flash place has changed and the curves are pointier on the flip4

Biggest upgrades on the z flip 4 are 25w charging and esim. It feels like they purposely gimped the z flip 3 just to give people a reason to upgrade. Not that the z flip 3 was bad, but the lack of dual sim made it not worth it for me.

I would have liked to have seen more coverage about what has and hasn't changed about the cover display experience. I returned the Z Flip 3 because I couldn't even mark a notification as read, delete, or reply from the outer display, something you can do on the Razr and just about any smartwatch. It doesn't seem like Samsung has learned anything in a whole year. You shouldn't have to flip a phone open every time you want to delete an email or mark an sms as read. That's just annoying.

I left android shortly after the note 20U and the the flip 4 will be my return getting it as a secondary phone opposite my iP13PM. I tried the flip 3 last year and the battery killed the experience hopefully this year it’s better

I wouldn't recommend it. I switched from the Z Flip 3 to the Google Pixel 6 Pro last week. It seems that the Z Flip 4 solves some problems of the 3, but not all of them. The screen brightness and cameras are bad on the 3, and they will keep being bad on the 4. Performance, battery life, and charging times were abysmal, and they seem to have been improved somewhat, but I am not convinced the changes are enough. Lastly, it gets annoying having to flip the phone so much after months to a year using it daily.
I switched from an iPhone 12 pro to a Z flip 4 and I'm loving it. Battery life gets me through the day no problem, cameras are great, and the folding form factor is just so fun. Got the blue and it's sexy af.

I'm thinking about upgrading as I have the flip 5g the one before flip 5g 3 and my phone screen is still perfect!!! Use it daily for banking and my investments and so far after almost 3 years it's still looks new!!! No issues and it's updated with latest software!!! It's really fast but I could use better speakers as it only had one and tiny screen on phone cover is useless!!!

See the gimmicks is something i will always use, i hated when Samsung removed dual recording on my s8+ it was a bummer along with pro video so the mouse trackpad feature i would use quite a bit.

Just realized I'm locked into my Flip 3 for another 11 months so I have to return my Flip 4 when it gets here. I'm a little bummed out but I liked the 3 and will trade it in, in a year. Just hope the deals are just as good next year.

If you are trading it in directly with Samsung you still owing money on the device wouldn't make a difference. At least is the case with T-Mobile but it shouldn't matter.

Battery will be always a concern for any phone (used pixel 6a had the same battery issue like flip 3 but both phons r good so far)
The Flip4 is nothing dramatic, just fixing flaws in the Flip3, and that was the minimum we should have expected. It is still a $600 phone sold for $1000 with the USP of it flips. That is subjective as to value, for me, it is an easy pass, but others may feel that the novelty is worth that premium.
In the UK it is £50 more than last year and the deals are poor compared to the US. Secondhand values of the Flip3, unsurprisingly fell through the floor, as many bought this and the novelty soon wore off. They sell for under £300 now, so a 66% loss in a year! Even by Samsung standards that sucks. Expect the Flip4 to drop badly very quickly, so maybe wait 2-3 months and get it for 33% off new (with no trade-ins).
Kudos to Samsung for the technology, but not sure what value it adds, especially for the price we have to pay for it. But people are buying them ATM, so although I am skeptical as to their long-term, only time will tell.
what annoys me is that they still dont have a functional infrastructure for the screen protectors
If you cross your eyes during the photo comparison a lot of the images are totally 3D. There's just enough difference in angles between the two photos that it creates a stereoscopic photo!! (cross your eyes until 2 photos make 3)

I won't be upgrading because I got mine on carrier with like 500 off for a broken iphone 6 someone gave me plus another 150 just for getting it. I have an s22u as well and I think I'm done with folding phones for now. I want a flagship camera, solid battery, and a screen aspect ratio that isn't completely ridiculous. I think I'll wait for the rollables. Shame LG mobile croaked

Every year people review phones for their camera not the actual phone...you're buying a phone not a DLSR camera. Its like if the phone is great and feature rich, it will get shit on cause of not so great camera performance.
I love these phones I just wish they make the screens a tad bit wider to even out the proportions. I think they’re just too narrow, making them look and feel long and awkward

@Wykesha Owens It's terrible, lol. Sometime last year they sent an update and it got soooo much better. Then they sent a different update later in the year after the release of the flip 4 and the battery became garbage again. If you don't already have one I'd get the 4 or wait for the 5 to come out.

PRECISELY what I've been saying in all my posts - by reserving in advance of the Unlocked event, getting all the upgrades/credits/freebies, Sammy is essentially paying me to hand them my 3, for a 4. "tougher than expected" 🤣🤣🤣 mine slipped out of my hand while I was putting it in my pocket and it broke the phone. It won't open more than 90° and the halves are misaligned. Cost me $100 (+ $150 for the Samsung Care that I got a few days prior). Luckily I still have some time before I mail my trade-in or else I wouldn't have a phone to use.

Samsung really screwed everyone when they quietly and recently reduced the trade-in values for all versions of the Z Flip 3 except the Bespoke Edition. There are several review videos like this one that are now technically providing incorrect information.
It goes up and down. It does change every few weeks.
I called them on the phone and got them to change it for me (got the full $900). I had some extenuating circumstances, but they treated me well.

I think the 4 is more for those who were holding off the Z Flip3, I appreciate the refinements however I'm not upgrading from my Flip3 I'll upgrade next year. I try and do two years these days unlike the early iPhone days I would upgrade yearly.

They're nice but that crease over time looks nasty. I favor the Moto Razor hinge mechanism and over all profile. I'd love to see a comparison between the two.
My understanding is that creaseless foldables have no IP water resistance. In that case i prefer the crease all day

Z Fold's battery is slightly bigger with a slightly smaller front display (its interactivity can be improved with coverscreen OS) and 120HZ over 144HZ which means better battery life. Plus Samsung chose water resistance over a creaseless panel. Substance over style.
