This is SO awesome! Paul wrote this song as a teenager and was playing it between takes while filming the movie "Fame." The director, Alan Parker, liked it so much that he wrote it into the movie. I never thought I'd hear another rendition of it, so this is quite a treat. THANK YOU!!!
He sounds so much better now. I didnt watch this episode. Did he complete this song? If yes, how do i get a copy of it. Share me the link please. Thanks
One of the most popular love song in the 80s...... here in the Philippines 🇵🇭 during my high-school days..... I even once had a 60 min. cassette tape just for this song.😅😅😅
McCrane é um ator bem versátil, ele interpretou o adolescente romântico Montgomery, o asqueroso bandido Emil Antonowski e o médico Robert Romano! E também canta que é uma beleza!
What a remarkable thing it is to experience again 30-plus years later nearly the same feelings I felt when I first heard this tender ballad in the original "Fame." Has it really been 30 years? My how time flies.
Hi Larry. This song was released in 1980 as a sound track of the movie Fame. It is a classic song. Believe it or not, but this song is still played on the radios in Brazil and I love it. This is the best song ever.
I just about fell over when I heard this, had no idea he could sing.. so beautiful. I don't understand why he didn't have a big recording career. Glad I'm not the only one who was moved by seeing this on Harry's Law enough to look it up and discover the full version. NICE!
@persianlimoo Puck is played by Paul McCrane... it's probably why they worked the song into the show. Both of his versions, separated by decades, are fantastic.
Oh my im in tears 😅ne of my fave songs when i was a teenager inplayed this in my guitar a million times..I never knew Paul Mcrane was the villain in Robocop not until today oh my...!
from Jose' "Timo" Sepulveda.........Paul.......man, you can still do it, baby! You are even BETTER now than you were back in 1980. You are an incredibly talented man........keep on rockin'
Thanks so much mary2006er for loading this clip of this song. I wish we could hear the whole song. I love Harry's Law, I love music and when he sang this song, I was so amazed! He sounds just like James Taylor. I was so surprised that so many people have already heard the song and posted their version. I will totally learn this song now. All kinds of strange people have been giving their strange opinions about Harry's Law but Harry and this show are teaching Attys that it is not about the money!
I love u paul omg! Why you're not releasing some songs now in 2014 :(( this is my fav as in number song top of the world song even if I die :((( the song is sweet and caring :((((
wow cool. I didnt like him much in ER to start with but then got to really love his character then had to know more about him . He's a great singer and actor as well..
Where do I get the whole performance of this guy? This is simply fantastic. This song was a great success in the early 80´s. I simply love this song and this performance is great.
"Fame" soundtrack was very meaningful to me in my coming-of-age years in college, and "Is It OK..." was always one of the most comforting and cathartic tunes. Right before Paul started singing tonight on "Harry's Law" I wondered if he would do this song. But I figured, "Nah, that tune's 30 years old and he's probably got a lot of other songs he'd like to do." Very pleasantly surprised when he launched into the familiar lyric...
If you go to the Television Series "Harry's Law" that starred Kathy Bates-you will see Paul McCrane perform his song -many, many years later. He is in his 40's plus. Check it out-it's touching.
What a treat ! Didn't know he performed this outside of Fame 🎥. Such a talent !! Still waiting for his debut album. Or rather...CD...or rather streaming. Lol
I love this song since i saw fame in the 70's and one thing I'm absolutely sure: this guy heard joao gilberto (girl from ipanema), a great singer from Brazil since late 50's. No demeaning in this comment, on the contrary: sophisticated musical culture, indeed.
you loved the song since you saw Fame in the 80s, to be exact 1980 when the film premiered in theatres =wink. If you had heard the song in the 1970s then you could of told the writer of the song that Paul McCrane stole the lyrics and sued him and the producers of Fame, from stealing lyrics
Last night's season premiere definitively proves that Harry's Law is the most entertaining show on television. The snappy dialogue, creative plot twists, believable acting, inspired direction, sophisticated character development, and cutting-edge social commentary combine to make this second coming of Boston Legal television's best by light years. Curiously, some critics initially trashed Harry's yet praised Boston, even though both have the same writers, directors, producers, and (some) actors.
I remember this whole mess. I was a senior in high school, and my govt/econ teacher stopped our curriculum and we discussed this for almost 2 weeks. She bought as many copies as she could find of Newsweek so we'd have a copy for ourselves.
Paul got an Emmy nomination! He's up for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series - 2011 for his appearances on Harry's Law this season and I'm sure this amazing moment helped. The winner will be announced at the Primetime Creative Arts Emmys, which will be taped on September 10 and aired at a later date on the E! Network. And then the winner will appear on the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards airing 9/18.
@TurnersTwoCents hey me too! For a second I entertained that thought, esp. with the guitar but mentally laughed at myself for thinking that. Lo and behold!!!
Too bad you didn't get the whole song, this version for Harry's Law was AWESOME! The older version was good too, but this one was much better. I wish you could buy it on itunes or amazon! You should go upload the whole song and repost it.
I thought he might he might do another new song. But I was so freakin surprised to see him launch into "is it ok...". And he sounded great. Hope he's a regular next season. And maybe he'll do another song.
Nice rendition of a very beautiful song. Sadly it was cut short. Does anyone here know where i can watch the whole scene 'till he finished the song? Also, i'm curious how the audience reacted after he finished the song. Thank you!✌
@persianlimoo When i just didn't know how to express myself, I read your comment and said: "Is that person reading my mind?" You just got it. Great comment, great song, but even greater version. Hope the DVD comes out with the full recording And thanks mary2006er for the uploading.
Actually, Paul sang this during his audition.
Oh, I didn’t know that. Wow! Love this song so much (and the way he sings it).
helped me make it through high school in a very abusive household. This song...a song that I love.
I never watched this show and I never knew that Paul McCrane sang this on film for a second time, until just now. 😳😍❣️
It was a great show. His character singing this was powerful
Hauntingly arrestingly beautiful. If McCrane made a record I'd buy it. If he put on a concert I'd attend it. This is sublime.
He wrote and performed this song in the 1980 movie "Fame". It's on the soundtrack....
I know. Beautiful then. Beautiful now.
I remember Paul Mac Crane in Fame. I ever loved his song and still...
We´re now in 2020 and Paul McRane is still famous in Brazil with this classic song. I love this song so much and I love his performance.
Você se lembra que essa música era da propaganda da calça Staroup aqui no Brasil? A propaganda está no TH-cam

Singers practice their songs all the time, even if they rarely play them live
Love this!! I only wish the entire performance had been shown.
Paul really should have had a music career as well.
One the best love song of all time!
This man has actually got a very good singing voice.
He was in Fame!!
He wrote it for the movie, and preformed it, in "Fame"
Wish Paul McCrane sang more. I kept hoping Dr. Romano would do something like this on ER. His voice is even better with age.
such a sweet, pure voice.
Dead or alive you're coming with me
He IS the original singer, it's the same actor who performed it in "Fame". He wrote it too.
And has been enjoying the royalties ever since. Love this song.
He also is the baddie that melted in Robocop..

Used this song in 1985 to close the deal with a girl. And, by the way, mission accomplished. We'll celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary next month.
Did you perform?
Wow way to go! God bless u!
