Definitely. But I still think putting the kids alone in a bedroom with the door locked and then hiding is a closet is the recipe for the worst decision you could make. Grab the kids, run to the bedroom, lock the door, have them go off the balcony. It isn't THAT FAR of a drop. Lorie dropped from like a height of 10 feet onto a flight of stairs and then fell down the stairs. The kids would've been fine just dropping eight feet or so to the grass.
4:07 I remember the first time I saw this film, with my dad. We were in my parents living room, I was 9. He found out I had seen Scream at a friends house (we had a strict no slasher movies rule, thanks to my mother who absolutely detested them) and decided the time had come. He opens up the VHS cabinet and reaches on the top shelf where the horror was and pulls down "Halloween". I guess if I was watching slasher films, it was time to learn the basics under his supervision. LOL As we're watching, I'm completely enthralled! Then we get to the closet scene and I'm just emotional, and screaming for her to get out. He tells me to wait, the good part's coming. One eye poke, and one stab later, it's over! Laurie is triumphant. I'm throwing my fist around, and then (because this is pan and scan VHS, the picture then shifts to the right) he rises like Frankenstein's monster! I freak the fuck out! I look back at my father and he is laughing his butt off. He was waiting for this reaction! Then, Loomis like a superhero gun drawn fires six shots, throwing him off the balcony and onto the lawn below. Again, I'm throwing the fists, I'm screaming, I'm just jubilant. He tells me if I'm sure he's dead. I say, how could he still be alive. My dad points to the screen, and I watch as Loomis peers over, and the shot cuts to the lawn, and Myers is gone! "No Way! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!" Again, my dad is laughing, telling me I told you so! I learned years later, he specifically picked this movie out from all the other horror films, not because it was his favorite, not because it had less gore, but because he wanted to see my reaction to these specific scenes. He wanted to be there when I first saw Halloween, and live vicariously through me, to recollect the fun and manic energy he had seeing it back in 1979.

David Gordon Green did a great job directing this, and it was the best performance I've ever seen Jamie Lee Curtis give. I am SO glad that she had a chance to redeem herself, after the shit sandwich that was Halloween: Resurrection, which she was contractually obligated to do. It was a complete slap in the face and an insult to the intelligence of anyone who watched H:20.
David, if you see this comment and you end up directing the sequel to the new movie, PLEASE make it even more like the original. Slower paced and tension building like both scenes you and Jamie discuss in this video.
I'm so glad I didn't watch this before going to the theater! That stunning tracking shot following Michael through Haddonfield deserved a truly honest reaction on the big screen!
I have NEVER been an interview kinda person. I hate them actually lol. But there is something about Jamie lee Curtis that makes me love her, and I’ll watch anything with her in it!
I could not be more excited for this movie I swear, and I'm going to see it Thursday night, but something that really bothers me about these clips of Michael is that he really does move like an old man. Yes I understand that Michael is supposed to be 61 years old. I get it, but I didn't think that it would be so obvious. He moves just like my grandfather. I can't really explain it, but old men just walk differently. In a way I guess it's more accurate and realistic for him to move that way, if fits, but I don't want to think of Michael Myers as an old man while I'm watching him on the big screen. I just want him to be the shape.
He's always moved slow. That's what makes the character great. His calm ruthlessness and the heavy breathing under the mask. The fastest I've ever seen him move was in the original 1978 version. When he stabbed at Laurie for the first time and she fell over the railing. He literally looked like he ran down the stairs after her, which looked odd.
That's Voyagers! episode 4 - Agents of Satan. The Voyagers landed on a table in the middle of a 'seance' that Harry Houdini is trying to debunk in that scene. Such a cute, fun Time Travel show from 1982. Great Choice by David Green. It's so cool he mentioned it.
Aside from all the analysis in the comments, I'm just enjoying how although for just a minute, I'm actually watching Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis! 🤤♿☠
