In the USA I believe that College and University are the same thing, they use the names interchangeably. However I am from the UK and College is where some people go between 16-18 usually to learn a more vocational trade, whereas university is where you go when you finish school to get your degree. I hope that helps!
Universities are typically larger as they host both Undergraduate & Graduate (Master's Program) courses & Colleges are typically smaller institutions and just host Undergraduate courses!
A university has many different colleges underneath it! For example, university may house a college of medicine, dentistry, law, science, business, architecture, anthropology, etc.; but they are all through one large university!
