    I’ve been watching since I was 9 years old meaning 8 years of film riot. As of last night, I got into USC film school and I can say with confidence it was because of you guys. From the DIY slider videos to the vfx tutorials to the short film bts, my knowledge stems entirely from film riot. THANK YOU

    For my musicbed challenge this year, I listened to all the tracks until one hit me with an idea. Now I have a story and a song that syncs perfectly.

    The interesting thing for me as a writer is that, because my stories are basically dramatized biographies, I develop whole playlists depending upon the characters' musical tastes and what's current in those genres at the time of the setting. That makes it a heck of a lot easier to choose the right song for a given moment. Some scenes even get inspired directly BY the song. There's one in particular that comes to mind, where a couple confesses their love to each other. I set it to Clean Bandit's "Symphony," and to be honest, I can't hear that song anymore without tearing up (even kinda surprised my mother once when we heard it while out shopping together). Sometimes I can pick something anachronistic or out of character because it fits the moment, but for the most part, the themes and feelings of period-accurate music match up best in my experience.

    I was actually discussing needle drops with my friends today, trying to figure out which songs fit the scenes and the story.

    Even though I'm not making any particular film right this moment, as a creative person who likes world-building, I couldn't relate more to the Tarantino's interview, as even if I'm not working on a story, I commonly found myself imagining the journey that some made-up character would take while listening to that same piece of music I'm currently listening. As a random example, if it's a sad, emotional-sounding piece, I found myself imagining an important character's sacrifice, or some tragic things happening.
    To a non-creative person, it's probably sound ridiculous. And it probably is, but getting into a music that's exactly depicts a certain mood or atmosphere that I'm finding, is a crucial way of sparking inspirations. The best thing is, it sometime goes unconsciously too, while often not on the look-out for inspiration, but rather having it come to me directly by just relaxing with listening to some music.
    I'm not a musical person, not at all; But seeing how much a musical piece could affect human emotions, it sometimes make me intrigue to learn up some musical skill, even if I ended up failing at it.

    in the past I always thought that a needle drop was a moment where you could hear, you know a needle drop.

    I've been learning davinci resolve and music over audio in-between voiceovers has been a difficulty. this is very helpful. I've been trying to get some good free license music as well so this is definitely a great source

    I signed up for this but it seemed like the use was too limited. You could not use it to endorse a brand. Everything is a brand? That includes your TH-cam channel. The use terms are very confusing.

    Hey guys! So I have a question. I'm about to film my first feature film but I am on a super tight budget. And one of my characters needs to have a beard and long hair and he can't grow it himself. I was wondering if you guys knew of a cheap, realistic, way to pull this off. I've been looking all over the web but all I've found are either $300 realistic ones or $30 fake looking ones...

    Timing is everything - my Audiio subscription is about up, and I was wondering if I should re-sub or go back to Epidemic Sound. There is now another contender!

    Does TH-cam just know that the song is licensed? How does it know in the copyright checks that you're good?

    • @MoleMatis
      @MoleMatis ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if I'm not mistaken, they ask if you're using licensed songs. and if you select 'yes', you have to upload the license

    or...... just use your instinct and go with what you think works, also why does everything have to have a name? I have never ever heard of "needle drop" and would look upon anybody who said it out loud with a derisory shrug and some sort of vocal noise.
