Algorithms for the Last 2 Edges of Big Cubes (Advanced)

  • * Note, I got Y & Z mixed up throughout the tutorial. *
    This tutorial teaches you to new algorithms for the last two edges of the 5x5 & 7x7 cubes.
    (After learning the ones for the 5x5, there's nothing new to learn on the 6x6. But there is some extra information you need for the 7x7.)
    For an advanced method for the rest of the edges, check out Rob's tutorial:
    th-cam.com/users/RobH0629#...
    Here are the algorithms used:
    R U Ll' U R' U' R
    (Flipping Algorithm)
    {Uu2 Rr2 (y z) U2} r2 {U2 (z' y') Rr2 Uu2}
    (y & z are correct)
    (Lll Rr) U2 Lll' U2 Rr' U2 x' U2 Rr' U2 Rr U2 Rr' U2 Rr2
    [Ll' U2] [Ll' U2] x U2 Ll' U2 Lll U2 Rr' U2 Ll2
    {Ll U2 Ll2 U2 Ll' U2} Ll {U2 Ll' U2 Ll2 U2 Ll}

    Good algorithms!
    Question.. Your using a V-Cube 5, Right?

    I personally use the 7 algorithms that Nakaji uses on Cutex, they are the fastest :P (just be warned you have to be able to pick up visually because no algorithms are given :D)

    @d12ckool if you do an Rr', to get the same permutation of the pieces, you would need to do an unnecessary cube rotation

    The algorithm at 2:24
    Isn't that like a commutator?

  • @Deathranger999
    @Deathranger999 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think it's the same thing as doing an r move on a 3x3, where you could have been doing an L'. It's the orientation of the cube after you finish the move that determines what the move will be.

    What about when u have 3 pairs of edges with one different piece in each layer

  • @SmanSharp
    @SmanSharp 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thats may not mean the number of turns, like on a 7x7x7 the inner layers are called 2 and 3. Hope this cleared things up.

    I see nothing wrong with this tutorial. There's a reason he goes fast; this is NOT for beginners. You need to learn how to solve the cubes normally before learning these complicated algorithms. Either that, or all you guys complaining have really short attention spans.

    ok im confused and don't know what to do,im working on my 7x7, i watched all of the situations you showed, and i don't know what to do. so looking at them on the top (they are green/ orange and blue/ yellow pieces) and left to right i see top edge - blue green yellow blue blue, then the bottom edge is green green green blue green. please someone help cause im stumped :\

    i think the only problem I have is with my 7x7. I just got it for Christmas, and I'm confused with the last 2 edges. I can't seem to find the algorithm(s) to solve the last 2.

    @MeMyselfAndPi Can you do just the parities for the 7x7 and slowly go through them? Like repeat steps and not using your fingers to spin it, twisting your hands just so it slows down and lets people who aren't speed solvers (such as myself) can actually see what to do. Just slow down about 10 times bud.
    And there's another parity you missed. The two middle corners (second layer in from outside) flipped upside down.
    Plus, the algorithms don't make much sense. Try L1 (first layer in after L)

  • @denbroncos4ever
    @denbroncos4ever 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You would have to do an r, but you would have had to do an x' as well to get the same affect as the triple l.

    For the first one, couldn't u have done a R2, Uu2, Bb2, used the flipping algorithm then Uu2 and Bb2? It's easier to memorize and for me it's faster.

  • @d12ckool
    @d12ckool 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    ....why do a triple l when u can do an r'??

  • @DeafVikingr
    @DeafVikingr 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @MrCross0530 along with L2 (second layer in from L) and L3 (which would be the immobile center lines) And use it with the other faces too. That's a lot more easier to understand. X, Y, Z axis are pretty simple, so is the Prime, but Lll' makes no sense whatsoever.
    Just adjust them a little, make them better sense.
    And slow down.

    for those struggling with the 8:00 algorithm to swap two edge pieces. This is closer to SSE notation to do this. Note that where I've used L or R, he is using N3L and N3R, (3rd layer in from the left and right) this also works for N2L. Since we're operating on only 2 columns here, I've just used L and R which while technically incorrect, is easier to read for beginners.
    L' U2 L' U2 F2 L' F2 R U2 R' U2 L2

    y and z are wrong. y is rotate to the right and z is rotate the cube clockwise like the front face.

  • @Arfwid
    @Arfwid 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    for the love of god man, when you just need to flip 1 edge without having to worry about anything else i.e when all the centers are fine, you DO not have to use the flip algorithm. (with the piece that has to be flipped on your right hand with the pieces it has to match on the left. do a R F' U . and the right edge is flipped

      Just In case you don't know yet. It is a parity. The alg is Ri U2 L F2 Li R2 U2 R U2 Ri2 F2 U2. Treat the right column of the center as the Rs and Ris, and the left column of the center as the Ls and Lis
