A local mechanic was going to charge nearly $500 to change the alternator, plus I would have needed to have the vehicle towed, which would have cost me another $150. I ended up replacing the alternator myself, it cost me less than $135, the truck runs great now. I like saving money by doing things myself, this video has some good advice though the "closed captioning said to get a new alternator at a pot store 🤣😂🤣

I had an issue where i replaced the battery and alternator but it continued to show overcharging. I checked the battery ground etc and it was sturdy. Any thoughts?

Did you figure it out? Some cars have fusible links instead of fuses. Check for burnt wires at the alternator connection. You would have to replace it with another fusible link since it's a fuse. Over charging will cause the link to burn the wires but has fire retardant heat shrink.

@The Machamp not 100% sure but once i ran the car for a while, alternator went to normal voltage. Guess the vehicle just had to relearn? Customer hasnt returned since so im gonna assume it was just that.

Take out alternator regulator n add more amps rectifier for higher voltage ⚡ batteries or series instead parallel

Without a scanner, you hook up a voltmeter to the battery with the car running and see what your voltage is.

Well, that's bullshit. An overcharging alternator isn't always the alternator. There are voltage regulators that are built into the vehicles computer. I just repaired a vehicle that was charging 18 volts. The P.C.M. supplied the grounding that regulated the voltage output for the alternator. Chrysler has done it this way since the 70s.

when i start car the voltage goes to 16v for about 15 seconds then settles to 14.2v. is that ok or is it a sign alternator is failing
