Chester CT Thompson performing 'Squibcakes' at the 5th Annual Jazz Organ Fellowship Tribute

- Here Chester CT Thompson performs his signature tune, 'Squibcakes', at our Fifth Annual Jazz Organ Fellowship Tribute (June 28, 2013) on the campus of Stanford University in their Dinkelspiel Auditorium. With CT are saxophonists Lenny Pickett and Howard Wiley. Barry Finnerty plays guitar and Ron E. Beck is on drums. Chester CT Thompson was our Honoree that evening and received our JOF Award for 2013. Thanks go out to Antonio Ayala from Vanishing Pictures for his video production. The camera crew from San Francisco State included Julian Faras (who also did the sound editing), Crystal Endless and Mariano Rosetti. Additional thanks to Kirk Schaible,,,

This was one of my best groups of funk and groove from the Tower of Power band back in the day! Talk about funky organ bass and chords! I’ve not heard one like my man Chester! My true idol growing up! Great seeing him and Lenny Pickett! Nothing but that “Tower of Power” sound! I love it!

I had never known who CT was until recently when he was featured at a Tribute to Larry Young who played the organ also. Well Mr Chester burned the house down!@! Remarkable musician!!
Only Lenny Pickett and CT get it. Everyone else is just trying too hard and they're not bad, they're just not great. Really fun to see Chester and Lenny together, because they're just on the same page in the book of funk. Thank Doc and Mimi for that

Humble Chester Thompson lets everyone else have their solos then does a phenomenal job on his! Great drumming!

As a longtime drummer and true fan of Tower Of Power, I have seen them back in the day with the Original Members, even when they went through several Lead Singers. To this day, T.O.P. is high on the list, as - One of my favorite Groups. Ron on drums, is doing his thing and keeping the pocket groove. However, I kinda wish that David Garibaldi was a part of this group. LP, CT & DG, Original Groove Pushing Playing T.O.P. Alumni!!

wow...Wiley gives a dramatic solo in a style of conversation with pulling, grinding, kneading, screeching, howling, begging, and in doing so took us around the universe and back...look out..aliens you can find what you are looking for here..

They DEFINETLY found the deepest corner of the pocket. Makes ya kind of....reorganize your molecules. Lenny Pickett hits notes only dogs can hear.
