    This is a brilliant lesson. I'm a piano player-10 minutes in and I already have a much deeper understanding of walking basslines.

    Why didn't you use paul chambers walking lines on giant steps especially when paul walked on giant steps and he didn't have all this time to study it like players do nowadays which would show his great understanding his high music knowledge and his hearing during a time when you didn't have the benefit or luxury of time it shows how far he and so many others were way ahead of others

      Totally valid points Paul, and you are correct of course. I did consider including examples of PC's lines for this video. That said, there are a number of places out there to find those transcriptions and my intention was to give props to Mr. Washington, who is still with us - and is a disciple of the great Paul Chambers. Nothing more : )

    That simplifying idea for GS beginning at c. 18:15 is rather brilliant! I first saw that with "Donna Lee," mm 5 & 6, that Bbmin7 Eb7 = Eb7, but was too dense to apply it here. What it does is provide another avenue for chromatic lines, and for propulsion. Thank you!
