The headroom is extremely useful on levels where you have to turtle to survive, and the units can be used to rush down one ai in 3v1 scenarios. 3. all the blessings are useful, albeit some are more essential than others. 4. the 3v1 and 2v1 maps dont force you to have a friend unless you lack basic proficiency at the game. On the contrary, they are the best levels. They are actual challenges at the harder difficulties. 5. You vastly underestimate how powerful many of the buffs are in allowing you to overcome stacked odds: it is very satisfying to use the splash damage blessing and hero speed to create armies of hersirs that delete enemy armies. Or on the world twist with resurrecting units to spam and endless stream of resurrecting prometheuns. Three Murmillo actually busted when you’re just rushing the AI on extreme. I did this on a handful of levels pretty effectively. Even better when you add this other buffs to either convert them into heroes with AOE or keep an infantry with lifesteal.
Of course. This video assumes you're playing it chill like a campaign, but if you think about it, these are all skirmishes, which are the same format as 1v1 matches (or 1v2, 1v3). Imagine how busted getting 3 military units would be in a 1v1 when they other guy is just starting their Temple to go up to Classical. You harass them and never stop the pressure and they just die. Hello, just wanted to point something out (I've beaten the whole thing solo) 6:10 It might seem completely impossible to beat 3 AIs... but here's what I did: Select Gaia with these blessings (I dont recall their names though): - The one that gives myth units more hp. - The one that starts you with extra units. So the idea is to instantly build a temple, go to classical with Leto and spam Automatons 24/7, the free army should INSTANTLY walk towards one of the enemies and pump automatons over and over, when you have like 7 automatons (GRAB THE UPGRADES) just focus down the TC, once one TC dies, focus on the other enemies, if they attack you just mass some automatons at home and defend. If things are excecuted correctly you should've killed someone by the 7 min mark and on your way to demolish another enemy. Just to clarify, Im not trying to defend the mode here, just sharing the "cheese" I found 😆, unfortunately the mode as it stand is SO underbaked but it has POTENTIAL (massive copium here).
No no, that's a perfectly good defense. It's a special game mode, it's supposed to be different and let you cook some cheesy strats. It doesn't need potential, it's already great for the brewer-type player who loves cooking insane combos.
It's not falling short, it's a skill issue. For people who like a challenge, it's great. Not every game has to be beatable on the hardest difficulty for everyone. If you want an insane challenge go single player extreme difficulty, if you wanna make it easier go lower difficulty OR find a friend. Not that hard.
the most fun I had with this was the 'heroes do aoe damage' ,'increased hero speed' and human units regain hp while fighting. that combined with Hersir spam on Loki is a sight to behold.
As far as I was able to tell, hero units aren’t considered human units. I added the first two and then added the “increase damage by 70%”, my infantry had almost 12 damage and then I heroised them and they became 7 damage. So I don’t think the lifesteal would work for them either. This could be an Atlantean thing tho, I’d have to check
@@LoveReacts Heroes don't have the Human Soldier tag in order to make them resist myth unit specials, you can see this with armory upgrades, which give their bonuses to humans, ships, and heroes.
@@matthiasvancauteren3107 it’s been a while and finally after beating page 2 on extreme I can pretty confidently say that Atty with the lashing roots, hero move speed and the kastors elite guard is the best combo when you’ve got all the best versions. I get all the relics at the start with 3 heroes and another 5 soldiers combing the map (automata stay at home usually), and then getting about 30 hero turma with 6.6-7 speed just shooting bombs is brutal. Requires you to take combats a little further away from your base so you have the opportunity to kite, but I’ve been able to take on 2-3 armies at once if I fight in favourable terrain (thin forest lines are infinitely better than any meat wall of soldiers). I play Gaia and auto queue the eco upgrades when I can, just so I’m not terribly behind their extra 25% boost. My dirty little secret is that I’ll pause the game if there’s too many things happening on too many fronts. I get flustered very quickly in actual games and I’m not really practicing for a real game when every tc I get gives an extra 30 pop each and my heroes smite with the full concentrated power of the sun. So I don’t feel so bad doing that every now and again
jotunheim 1v3 is actually fun, just go loki - hero aoe, train time, and lifesteal/movespeed. Spam hersisrs to hell and get 5 myth units per engagement. Then there is the expensive house + villager bonus for egyptians. Houses are free for them + destroying and rebuild a house still spawns a villager therefore you can go even harder with Ra fast heroic. Myth Unit bonuses are nice too for zeus and automaton spam
I've heard somebody say that it looks like one of the managers said it was a really good idea, but they didn't really give it the appropriate budget to be something more than that and I tend to agree with that
@@AmonsChallenges i can understand that, from someone who has experienced the game industry to some level... often during development there are ideas and systems that are created as like "this would be a cool idea" as you said in the video the foundation is there, it just has to be improved, although i am quite confident the devs will be able to do it, as they have shown they are quite dedicated to the game so far! :D.... on a side note... would you be interested in collabing some day? i really like your videos and style and thing we might be able to do something cool together :D
@@typervader yeah it's only useful with atlanteans, but in the 1v2v1 I was consistently getting most of the relics until I switched to Norse because I was getting my ass handed to me by the two kronos
There are several issues, but my biggest gripe is that the entire thing is so extremely easy. Im not even very good at this game, but you can seriously clear nearly every mission by just unfreezing free units and right clicking the enemy base. Add another 2 or 3 difficulties and this could be great
I'll be honest, while I agree with a lot of the complaints, the video did more to encourage me to play it than anything else. You promising that the game acutally eventually starts posing ANY level of challenge sounds great. Hope I can get to that point before dying of bordom (Also I had no idea you can pick your god, I played like the first 6 missions as Gaia before the game started giving me Hades)
I'm glad I managed to encourage you to play it, it was never my intention to discourage anybody, it was more of a "this is how I see it, but opinions may vary" kind of video
I very much enjoy it and have been playing a lot with my brother. Many mods work in Arena as well which is awesome. I have to say, co-op and some mods to make things harder is the best way to do Arena Arena is essentially a souped up Skirmish mode with some trappings. Unfortunately I have to admit the trappings are neither numerous nor of high quality, but I'm playing it and having fun. Man the first boss battle could not have been more disappointing though. Nothing to do on the map, a single boring optional objective, the boss himself completely bugged. I've made some AoM custom scenarios in my time and I could cook something up in a week that's better than that, I mean wow, I cannot emphasize that enough. What on earth. Also only Kastor as hero, and both of you having Kastor, is straight up false advertisement. We were promised Legends plural! Regarding facing multiple Extreme opponents- you've left out an extremely important relevant detail: the Blessings. By the time you've got Rare blessings, the blue ones, you're more than capable of beating multiple opponents. Try combining Soldier Lifesteal (15%!), Soldier Dmg (+70%!!) with cheaper villagers, and Poseidon. The healing stacks, and your cav become absolute monsters. I promise with some elbow grease you can make a 1v3 possible.
Thor feels broken when you use just norse hero units and the hero area damage card combine with the human unit life steal and additional damage you melt through every army 😂
I think it would have been pretty easy to add Ajax and Amanra as legends in the scenario. They should have also either bothered to create a new character or reused Reiginelf for Freyr's champion because reusing a common unit was quite lame tbh. The world twists aren't all as interesting, like the Horus and Aphrodite ones really changed the gameplay, the Hell one does nothing interesting and yhe Thoth one is a straight buff to the player lol. Alsi the Freyr one is kind of a miss, the forest fires never hit anything because there are too many trees and the frost really doesn't accomplish much. And the blessings don't seem that balanced for all civs, like the aoe on heroes is crazy on Atlanteans but does nothing for Egyptians.
I'm ok with some of the blessings not being balanced around certain civs, in fact, I think that's a good thing since it adds some strategy about which one to pick, but yeah, some of the twists aren't nearly as interesting tbh
What can I say that you already did. My only disappointment it's the Cronos boss battle, the silly dialogues of literally all of them, Gods, Castor and Freyr's champion. It's cool that they thought about adding dialogues and some cinematics in boss battles, but common they are really bad.
Easiest way to kill multiple AIs is to rush them with your OP starting units while you fend off the AI's badly executed attacks and constantly make good trades. I think the reason you found it so difficult is because you dismissed the +3 starting Murmillo buff. Starting with 3 extra military units (7 total) at the beginning when they have no Temple lets you cripple one AI immediately. Once you get Krono's buff for Kastor, he can also almost solo kill another AI by just walking into their wood/gold line and now everybody is slowed to a glacial crawl, either they die or they can't work even if they don't die. There, you just mortally wounded 2 AI and now you just have to trade carefully against the 3rd AI until you get ahead, while making sure those wounded AI stay useless until you can spare an army to kill them. I think these were designed to play like Skirmishes/Multiplayer Matches instead of Campaign. Timing and sharp decisions are very important, it's not about building up and doing slow pushes.
Wow I can't believe anybody still remembers that. I wanted to edit in a whisper but I was like: nobody will pick up on that hahaha You are getting major respect points from me here!
I loved to play with my brother on extreme but it only gets good on page 2 onwards. Freyr's Mirkwood (a 2x3) looked so challenging and we really need to scratch our head to pass that thing without cheats (we are still trying it). I feel that on Extreme it can be an interesting challenge to some specific skirmish fans but a coop auto-finder, more variety for maps conditions and putting some steroids on world twists would help. I would rather make the plot being an Ajax fever dream (while Arkantos had his own dream in the campaign) instead of a Kastor. The story felt super generic and does not match the vibe of Titans campaign I am also a defender of the murmillo bonus, as crazy as it sounds, lol. It can be good way to grab all relics on map AND rush early. The long tutorial was a huge miss, since they could use all of that time in a sort of "Art of War tutorial", similar to what Age of Empires 2 did. It would be better to prepare players with BOs and advanced basics if they intended to make 4 tutorial scenarios
Glad you're trying to beat everything on extreme, but I tried to use cheats at one point and they didn't work so I don't think this game mode even allows them
@AmonsChallenges oh snaps! I forgot to test cheats. Not allowing cheats is not the right way, since many people like to have the choice. They could allow cheats but block blessigns as a reward or something... Indeed, this mode needs some basic tweaking in order to be accessible for everyone. Hopefully the devs will not drop the ball.
take inspiration from starcraft 2 coop that just one idea, ofc the idea are there this are really good foundation more personalization is a must being pve in nature you can ignore balance to begin with and for the hero i don't hate kastor to begin with but variety is needed (i don't hate him mostly because for me kastor arkantos and krios have un underground difficult family situation that can explain why arkantos and kastor act in a certain way in the campaign but that's me)
@@AmonsChallenges well just take inspiration for the campaign an idea the mount olympus (With the statue) one or the osiris cart where you need to recover the pieces from the enemy
I find it interesting that they have way too much pause between dialog lines, because the campaign had too little. seems they listened to that part but over corrected. not sure how the pauses that long got to release tho
6:10 I guess I'm not a regular human being. I just finished the campaign on extreme difficulty on my own 😎 Although I did take almost 2 hours to beat 17B. The only way I got through it was by abusing the tier 3 Gaia's Lashing Roots (the hero aoe damage) with Atlanteans.
I was hoping for SC2 coop and got a shitier version of skrimish.... extremly disappointed. They couldnt even bother to make half decent mission's like SC 2 got. And its missing replay value, it would have been cool to be able to lvl up our heroes factions etc. Also i think it would have been better and more interesting if they took campaign missions for it instead of skrimish maps....
After dabbling in tier lists, I tried dabbling in reviews... Hope you enjoyed!

No no, that's a perfectly good defense. It's a special game mode, it's supposed to be different and let you cook some cheesy strats. It doesn't need potential, it's already great for the brewer-type player who loves cooking insane combos.
Seems like an interesting concept falling very short.
Still this looks like something to have potential at least!
Yeah, I'm defiitely optimistic about this tho
It's not falling short, it's a skill issue.
For people who like a challenge, it's great. Not every game has to be beatable on the hardest difficulty for everyone. If you want an insane challenge go single player extreme difficulty, if you wanna make it easier go lower difficulty OR find a friend. Not that hard.
@@lekhakaananta5864 Wasn't talking about the difficulty, i was refering to the actual different gameplay it would provide, which looks lackluster.
You don't need to play multiplayer to beat the 3 extreme AI but it's gonna be really cheese.
Yeah, I've come to that realization too... But trying it legit would have been a real pain
the most fun I had with this was the 'heroes do aoe damage' ,'increased hero speed' and human units regain hp while fighting. that combined with Hersir spam on Loki is a sight to behold.
I did like Freyr's world twist really. At the start it basically kickstarts your eco and unit production, which you'll need in the 1v3 scenarios
Well looks like I'm gonna have to try that out, thx
06:43: I don't wanna go out and meet people to play😭. Winter is coming, I wanna stay inside and play alone🤪
i think that this add on it's more like a test for the future
I can see that being true, they are testing the waters, see how many people are gonna try to play it
its definetely got flaws but it is a free update and an interesting concept! I would like to see how they continue with it :D
@@J4YL4444 Appreciate the offer man, but I'm a solo flier and I intend to remain one 🙂
@@AmonsChallenges i respect that :D
The 3 murmillo buff is pretty good if you want to easily snatch all relics at the beginning of the game
The problem is that relics often aren't worth taking tho... Plus you can only take them if you're playing Atlanteans so you can turn them into heroes
Until you stop being alatens and cant make them heroes
@@typervader yeah it's only useful with atlanteans, but in the 1v2v1 I was consistently getting most of the relics until I switched to Norse because I was getting my ass handed to me by the two kronos
@albusnightspring8057 Yea sure, but relics alone aren't enough to offset how bad the blessing is
There are several issues, but my biggest gripe is that the entire thing is so extremely easy. Im not even very good at this game, but you can seriously clear nearly every mission by just unfreezing free units and right clicking the enemy base.
Add another 2 or 3 difficulties and this could be great
Yeah, the frozen units really make that page a lot easier to beat than the other one
1 vs 2 and 1 vs 3 are pretty fun
I very much enjoy it and have been playing a lot with my brother. Many mods work in Arena as well which is awesome. I have to say, co-op and some mods to make things harder is the best way to do Arena
Arena is essentially a souped up Skirmish mode with some trappings.
Thx for the tip, gonna try it out!
Thor feels broken when you use just norse hero units and the hero area damage card combine with the human unit life steal and additional damage you melt through every army 😂
Def gonna try that one
your laugh is infectious
hahahah thx, I kinda get that a lot :D
What about infinite villagers from the free freyr blessing houses?
@@effi6286 tbh a lot of the blessings/world twists can be abused by killing your own units/buildings and I'm not sure how I feel about that hahaha
What can I say that you already did.
My only disappointment it's the Cronos boss battle, the silly dialogues of literally all of them, Gods, Castor and Freyr's champion.
It's cool that they thought about adding dialogues and some cinematics in boss battles, but common they are really bad.
Agreed, that "boss battle" ended up me building a bunch of towers in the middle of the map and spawn camping him hahaha
Could use some fine tuning, maybe some extra difficulty modes. As a non pro, this seems like a fun content expansion until china comes out.
Well it's definitely better than having nothing, that's for sure!
4:52 - Missing the whisper saying "Legitimately" 😂
Wow I can't believe anybody still remembers that. I wanted to edit in a whisper but I was like: nobody will pick up on that hahaha
You are getting major respect points from me here!
The story felt super generic and does not match the vibe of Titans campaign
I am also a defender of the murmillo bonus, as crazy as it sounds, lol.
I mean you can the pharaoh as Egypt. Don't know about Greeks or anyone else.
take inspiration from starcraft 2 coop that just one idea, ofc the idea are there
this are really good foundation more personalization is a must being pve in nature you can ignore balance to begin with
and for the hero i don't hate kastor to begin with but variety is needed (i don't hate him mostly because for me kastor arkantos and krios have un underground difficult family situation that can explain why arkantos and kastor act in a certain way in the campaign but that's me)
Yeah, PvE would be a really fun thing to do, would love to see something like that in AoM, really wonder how they would implement something like that
@@AmonsChallenges well just take inspiration for the campaign an idea the mount olympus (With the statue) one or the osiris cart where you need to recover the pieces from the enemy
I find it interesting that they have way too much pause between dialog lines, because the campaign had too little. seems they listened to that part but over corrected. not sure how the pauses that long got to release tho
Yeah I have no idea tbh, really makes you wonder about that one
Is there an achievement if you completed all skirmish in Titan/ Extreme difficulty?
Nope, but you do get all mission portraits in gold in the arena so you OCD is gonna be happy about that :)
@AmonsChallenges i cant possibly clear the Titan/ Extreme difficulty for 1v2 or 1v3 without cheat 😭😭
This is not campaign tho
I know, but the campaign itself feels a lot more finished than this
Good review
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looking for someone to play the 1v3 maps on coop
Can someone do a co-op mission with me please?
6:10 I guess I'm not a regular human being. I just finished the campaign on extreme difficulty on my own 😎
Although I did take almost 2 hours to beat 17B. The only way I got through it was by abusing the tier 3 Gaia's Lashing Roots (the hero aoe damage) with Atlanteans.
Kuddos man, looks like I'm gonna have to try harder on those missions hahahah
I was hoping for SC2 coop and got a shitier version of skrimish.... extremly disappointed. They couldnt even bother to make half decent mission's like SC 2 got. And its missing replay value, it would have been cool to be able to lvl up our heroes factions etc. Also i think it would have been better and more interesting if they took campaign missions for it instead of skrimish maps....
Yeah, there are a lot of campaign missions, I'm sure they could have recycled a couple of those to give us some more polished content
It's shite. Extremely disappointing.
The beginning was ass. Shittiest dub ever and stupid story. Once the tutorial ended it started being pretty fun. The 1v2v1 was hell though
The odds get increasinly less favorable than even a 1v2v1 hahahaha
@AmonsChallenges yeah I just saw that in the video, I haven't beaten the first page yet though
