It is a misleading statement. The wheelchair is actually over 19 pounds...still very light. One disadvantage of it being light is that if a person scoots forward to grab something the whole wheelchair tips over. Very dangerous! If you manage the tip over part, rest is worth it. Having a light wheelchair means your wheelchair goes with you everywhere. Now you do not have to think twice before going anywhere. More freedom. Still since it is a manual wheelchair unless there is someone to assist you, the freedom is limited outside. The better choice still is an electric wheelchair under 30 lbs. Still within the manageable weight. Not too difficult to load in the car and then you have freedom up to 20 to 30 miles roaming outside on paved surfaces.
Me, a 21-year-old with POTS/CFS looking at this as an option that could allow me to actually go out with friends occasionally: ahh,, yess, the older generation.... that I am most certainly a part of... /s/j haha lol
That would benefit me a lot having muscular dystrophy. I let someone borrow my last wheel chair and it was heavy. It was never returned and I need a light one since I have the body of an 80 something year old
There are other wheel chairs that have a frame of less than 14 lbs. I HATE how the video speaks of a 13 lbs wheelchair when it's a lie: the wheelchair weighs 19 lbs. You can't refer to a "WHEELchair" that weighs 13 lbs when it doesn't have its WHEELS !
