Yessss I have a Shiny one called Cupcake and I just wish she had an easier time battling. Ice-type Secret Power is pretty fun, but overall, this Pokemon does not live hits well.
A Pokemon I wish didn't suck: Dusknoir. Dusknoir has amazing defenses which looks like it could fill a decent walling role. Then you look at it's HP stat and you just burst into laughter. In fact, due to Eviolite, Dusclops is bulkier than it's own evolution. Plus, Dusknoir is slow as $%#@. In order to make Dusknoir better, it needs a buff to it's HP and Speed.
I agree! Dusknoir is my favorite pokemon, and it's so sad that it kinda sucks in battle. It also needs more moves in it's set, Dusknoir doesn't get freakin Shadow Claw?!! Also no reliable recovery.

Seriously. If you like the pokemon, you should train it. Competitive battling is not the end all-be all for pokemon training. I just like collecting. I have one of each fully evolved pokemon (barring some event exclusives) and I'm training them ALL to level 100. Got most of them up to level 60. Yeah, level 60 Dunsparce and Delibird. I love 'em both.
The Penguin Cipher25 I really love hariyama despite how machamp is technically better, I also like swalot, and weezing, and dusknoir , they all have better counterparts but I love them the best☺
As the main reason for me liking the 'mons I do comes down to design and origin mostly, I like Weezing a lot, Swalot is lit, Dusknoir could be better but is kinda overhated, and Hariyama is my least favourite (fully evolved) 'mon, but I respect that you like it :]
I played my Tropias after Groudon to give it a speed boost due to its ability in the sun of Chlorophyll so improved speed and 1 turn solar beams, Improved Synthesis, and Fly to take out Grass types or fighting types was fun.

Faisal Salam Infernape is a great mon with great stats and movepool making it scary and unpredictable. It's only one tier below OU in UU, where there are lots of former OU mons like Infernape, and it's one of the best mons there.
Funny Tarous story. I fought one the other day in Pokemon Ultra Moon on Hau's team. I almost lost to it. Just the Tarous. Nothing else. It made me feel worse when I saw he had another Pokemon on his team.
I remember when I caught Tropius in Sinnoh Safari in my pokemon Platinum first run. I was like omg it's beautiful and rare In battle it sucked Even with npcs :(
Not hating, but the tier system is based on overall usage. That doesn't mean they suck, it's just a worse battling environment for them. For example, Quagsire was jumping everywhere last gen, so for this argument let's look at it from OU; it was a great check to monsters being zard x, megagross, etc. That would mean, according to this vid, Quagsire did not suck. 7th gen scares Quagsire out of ou due to the huge number of threats that exist. Example, bulu, lele, koko, etc are new mons that quag's role is almost nullified to due to an increase of av tangrowth and especially fini, and less set up due to more direct damage (not as much sd, etc, and of course a lot more pressure on quag to switch into one of these threats, and z moves are more terrifying for it). Would you say Quagsire, since it's far from ou now, *suck????* when it was *not sucking* last gen, according to this video? Makes no sense, sorry, but this method doesn't mean they are weak, it means other things push them away. Again, no hate, but looking at their "weaknesses against them" and their respective tier of pu does not make them weak Another example, tauros. Why would you call that thing weak??? It can perform solid roles on a team, forcing switches, and still decent damage, it depends on the team structure! That's how any mon you choose can work; It's not a 1v1 or 1v6 matchup lol, everything has teammates
Thank you. I wrote a similar comment as well, but you just explained it 100 times better than I did. Let's hope Micheal (and other/more people) see(s) this.
Toasty Baguette Thanks :) lol I may watch verlis, but that doesn't mean I agree with him. This smogon and tier system knowledge is all due to joey, blunder, etc; they helped me learn so much more on the competitive scene than verlis :] And as a matter of fact, mega beedrill without uturn is stupid, and Verlis is always judging a mon's potential in a 1v1 and/or 1v6 matchup, which is plain wrong
dalekdoctor I simply couldn't have said it better, people are so Quick to say because a mon is in a low tier today that means they're absolutely awful but you explained why that's not true perfectly. I wish people were more informed like this.
I wish that Chicorita (Gen 2 grass-type starter) was on this list somewhere. I totally agree with Tropius being on the list, and I also like it enough that I would wish it to be stronger.
yamato9000 i’m surprised they didn’t give them an evolution in GEN fours since a lot of the Pokémon they did were Johto fully evolved Pokémon with bass that totals around 430
@@nestor8682 its weird that Quagsire is uu despite having a BST of only 430. That's the same tier as Swampert for goodness' sake. I wonder how it would've been if its BST was 500
I know! Miltank is probably my second favorite normal type. I used one for the first time in Ultra Moon, and it kicked some @$$ in the Ultra Necrozma fight. SEcond, I see one for a Soul Silver playthrough, and now I'm using one in my first run of original Gold version. It's a tank.
TheBattleRuler Mega Garchomp doesn't suck lol People just exaggerate,92 Speed is still good and 170+ Atk with moves like Earthquake and Outrage is going to leave holes in teams. Something like a speed boost or Sticky Web will help it Sweep. It just works differently than normal Garchomp
Ninetales has always been one of my top 3 favorites and I’m so glad she got a good Alolan form, but Kantonian Ninetales hasn’t been useful since gen 5 🙄
I thought Lycanroc was pretty good. I did have to switch midday out a lot... and bench her for a bit,,, and, like, never used her.... AIGHT BUT MIDNIGHT FORM IS A GOD SO THERES THAT
The quote is no problem with me cuz my top 6 favorite Pokémon are 1. Sceptile 2. Charizard 3. Greninja 4. Lucario 5. Level 100 OSHAWATTTT Jk it’s one of my fav tho 5. Jolteon 6. Umbreon
I used my electivire in a lot of double battles when I did a lot of battles in oras and x/y. Did some on showdown too. Max evs in attack and speed. Jolly nature. Air balloon with wild charge, protect, rock slide and ice punch. He did alright. Got a couple good predicts to get that speed boost with motor drive.
Even though he's decent already despite his ability I still wish Slaking got a mega Evolution. It wouldn't matter what ability he got as long as its not Truant and he'd go strait to OU or Ubers. Hehe. Imagine a Mega Slaking with Huge Power. Literally one-shot everything.😂
I like the idea of Insomnia on Mega Slaking, since normal Slaking is lazy and spends most of the day sleeping and lounging, i thought it would be neat if it’s mega form “woke up” and unleashed all the energy it built up by eating and lounging, going on a rampage due to it’s restlessness from mega energy
Man I feel you. I think it's one of the cooler and cuter designed of all the Pikachu clones and is awesome for being a flying/electric type. Too bad that that's all it kind of has going for it.
When I heard you say Lycanroc, I though “Dusk form shouldn’t be on here, it’s ability tough claws is amazing in competitive batting” then I saw that it was midday and I’m just like, “TOTALLY JUSTIFIED”
Michael: "Hopefully Typhlosion will get a Mega or an Alolan form." In a sense he wasn't wrong, because Typhlosion now has a Hisuian form in Pokemon Legends Arceus.
I will counter your statement about Lapras, as it is one of my favorite Pokemon. Lapras has a diverse moveset, and its HP makes it a great tank. I have won many a battle thanks to Lapras, so it is all about how you use Lapras that determines how good it is.
Lapras HP doesn't matter much because it's defenses aren't very great, all of that HP can be destroyed by super effective moves or moves with ridiculous damage. Lapras doesn't have good enough speed either to compensate. It doesn't help that Electric, Rock, and Fighting are common attacking types, and the fact that it only resists Ice or Water. Lapras doesn't have any great attacking stats either so it can't make good use of any coverage moves it has. There are just so many better water types that are better in every way. Better typing, better offense stats, better defense stats, better speed, etc.
Miguel da Cat Its special defense and special attack aren't even that great. There are so many water types that are better in both stats that are also better in speed or typing, the only thing Lapras has over them is Freeze-Dry which isn't enough.
Guest ideas for pokemon talk 1.Swanna 2.Primarina 3.Rapidash 4.Flareon 5.Empoleon 6.Vaporeon 7.Meowth 8.Espeon 9.Male Mewtwo and Female Mewtwo / I figured two mewtwos with different genders would be interesting.
My favourite Pokémon is Swalot, but from what I'd heard on TH-cam it's not very good. It was pretty powerful in my playthrough but it was definitely overleveled. I took the NPCs very seriously when they said I should train up my Pokémon a lot before each gym, and I ended up about 10 levels higher.
14:33 - 15:04 Castform: 😢🗡 The next day News Flash: People has spotted a Castform that has killed itself with a sword. So today will be a celebration of this stupid Pokémon death. We hope it burns in *HECK* and never come back. (I actually love Castform. I'm just proving a point of what would happen if Castform was real.)
Tropius is one of my favorite Pokémon. I used him through two play throughs, and the only way to practically use him in your team is breeding a good one with good ivs and egg moves
Honestly, considering the amount of people who say "PU doesnt stand for anything" is quite high, this isnt the first time I've seen someone say it has no meaning. So I was trying to spread some info that seems to have been lost. Some how.
It would be cool if Lanturn got an evolution. You can really have some fun with it. Set up Rain Dance then rain down water attacks and Thunder. Also great when you can switch in on an Electric attack to heal.
Actually, PU doesn't necessarily mean that the Pokémon from that tier suck. It's just that there are other Pokémon, which are more suited for the competitive field, but that doesn't mean PU Pokémon suck. I for example use a Pikachu (I know, horrible example, but that's what I've got), which is from the PU tier (Smogon). Its Speed is decent, but its other stats aren't that good, unless you give it a Light Ball, which boost Pikachu's Attack and Special Attack, so those stats actually become good. Then you give it moves like Volt Tackle, Brick Break, Fake Out, ect. It can also be used as a Special Attacker, so you can for example give it moves like Thunderbolt, Discharge, Hidden Power or even Grass Knot (which is good against Ground types, if they're heavy of course). But stats aren't all though. If Pikachu either has the Jolly or Timed Nature, then its Speed stat would grow more. Then it can be EV-trained in Speed, which would make it out speed a good amount of Pokémon. Then EV-train its Special Attack (if Timed) or its Attack (if Jolly) and BOOM, Pikachu is usable! There are of course a TON of better electric type Pokémon to use (since Pikachu is of course just a middle staged evolution), but Pikachu is still usable, and the same goes for a lot of other PU Pokémon as well. It's just that there are other, better Pokémon to choose from.
Craig Wooden Awesome! Glad I'm not the only Pikachu user! :D I chose to go for a more physical Pikachu with Fake Out, Volt Tackle, Brick Break and Volt Switch (Why Volt Switch? Well, if the battlefield would get dirty (like fighting a very strong Pokémon, which Pikachu can't easily take down), then I would simply use Volt Switch on the opponent. Pikachu gets to do some decent damage, and I get to also send out my sweat, sweat Garchomp to clean up the rest).
I know I am 2 years late on this but I still want to mention that Meditite/ Medicham also are Pokémon I wish didn't suck. I personally think that Fighting/Psychic is a great dual typing. Fighting pokemon are known for physical attacks and psychic pokemon are known for special attacks which is why I thought having Meditite on my team and evolving it into Medicham would be a great idea. unfortunately I had a hard time trying to use this pokemon effectively in a playthrough. I normally would rather limit the pokemon to a move set of moves that they can learn via level up and not use TMs/HMs to make it useful. I think Meditite/Medicham should be included on this list. MandJTV, I appreciate the awesome pokemon content you share with the pokemon community.
Butterfree. :( It can use alot of different types of moves and i love its attacks, but it's defense is just god awful. I had it in my top 6 through Pokémon Sun and that was a mistake.

Again, no hate, but looking at their "weaknesses against them" and their respective tier of pu does not make them weak
Another example, tauros. Why would you call that thing weak??? It can perform solid roles on a team, forcing switches, and still decent damage, it depends on the team structure! That's how any mon you choose can work; It's not a 1v1 or 1v6 matchup lol, everything has teammates
THIS. I agree 100%
Thank you. I wrote a similar comment as well, but you just explained it 100 times better than I did.
Let's hope Micheal (and other/more people) see(s) this.
Thank you.
Toasty Baguette Thanks :)
lol I may watch verlis, but that doesn't mean I agree with him. This smogon and tier system knowledge is all due to joey, blunder, etc; they helped me learn so much more on the competitive scene than verlis :]
And as a matter of fact, mega beedrill without uturn is stupid, and Verlis is always judging a mon's potential in a 1v1 and/or 1v6 matchup, which is plain wrong
dalekdoctor I simply couldn't have said it better, people are so Quick to say because a mon is in a low tier today that means they're absolutely awful but you explained why that's not true perfectly.
I wish people were more informed like this.
I wish that Chicorita (Gen 2 grass-type starter) was on this list somewhere. I totally agree with Tropius being on the list, and I also like it enough that I would wish it to be stronger.
Almost thought hed mention it with the Typlosion and Tropius mentions
@Christina Azarian I love bayleef and chikorita but meganium suck ass

You could use the Perish Song/Block Lapras, plus the protect. It doesn't really suck there, but I get you with the ICE type there.
ケイ・チャン Just use Soak. It gets rid of Ice Type. And Rock/Ground. And Grass/Bug. And every other that has great defenses but a poor typing.
The downside is it loses stab, unless it also gets a water move, but a wall Pokémon, or one that uses Curse a lot, then you can usually use it.
ケイ・チャン I run Assult Vest on my Lapras and I love it. Sooooooooooo bulky
ケイ・チャン I am sad to use this set because one Close Combat can knock it out
ye but in pu almost no pokemon have close combat its so hard to 1-shot, mostly having to get crits to not get killed by perish song

Something like a speed boost or Sticky Web will help it Sweep. It just works differently than normal Garchomp

Spiritomb and Luxray are two Pokémon in PU tier that I wish were much better. 😭
I always assumed pu meant poirly used, as spiritombs typing is really good with one weakness
I mean my idea to buff spiritomb is to just add like 20 base points to hp
I will counter your statement about Lapras, as it is one of my favorite Pokemon. Lapras has a diverse moveset, and its HP makes it a great tank. I have won many a battle thanks to Lapras, so it is all about how you use Lapras that determines how good it is.
Agreed. With the right training it can also be a special defense and special attack monster.

One of my fav mons are beartic. Not only are its stats subpar, but its also a pure ice type.

I could've sworn PU stood for "Poorly-Used", as in, using these would yield poor results
KingWoop72 It does stand for Poorly used,I think he just said that for comedy purposes.
Honestly, considering the amount of people who say "PU doesnt stand for anything" is quite high, this isnt the first time I've seen someone say it has no meaning. So I was trying to spread some info that seems to have been lost. Some how.
KingWoop72 I didn't know there were people who say that PU doesn't stand for anything before watching this video really
KingWoop72 I thought it stood for Partially Used
KingWoop72 it is. PU stands for Pokémon with potential but normally aren't used properly.
It would be cool if Lanturn got an evolution. You can really have some fun with it. Set up Rain Dance then rain down water attacks and Thunder. Also great when you can switch in on an Electric attack to heal.

But Aurorus only has 6 weaknesses tho?
Mandjtv: "I like sceptile"
Aww! I couldn't add the rest of my comment!
Me: Sees Seviper finally acknowledged and smiles
This is why I barely play competitive.
HMM Light Ball Pikachu is really good! I prefer mine with Electro Ball, Fake Out, Thunderbolt & HP Ice(for grass & dragons)
Craig Wooden
Awesome! Glad I'm not the only Pikachu user! :D
I chose to go for a more physical Pikachu with Fake Out, Volt Tackle, Brick Break and Volt Switch (Why Volt Switch? Well, if the battlefield would get dirty (like fighting a very strong Pokémon, which Pikachu can't easily take down), then I would simply use Volt Switch on the opponent. Pikachu gets to do some decent damage, and I get to also send out my sweat, sweat Garchomp to clean up the rest).
Personally I like tangela/tangrowth but he isent that strong for example victorybeel, vileplume, eggsecutor are just over all better
Tangrowth’s always busted in singles OU/UU, Tangela even niche uses with eviolite
*Lapras* I’m done watching this list
Me: Being in poorly used or PU really stinks.
Rocky Balboa: That's right, it STINKS!
I had a golurk in my X play through names Rocky Balboa
i've never looked at Castform the dirty way lol. I've always thought that those balls are its cute little legs.
I thought they were arms
I thought they were boxing gloves
MandJTV, I appreciate the awesome pokemon content you share with the pokemon community.
they dont suck though medicham us a amazing wallbreaker

It can use alot of different types of moves and i love its attacks, but it's defense is just god awful. I had it in my top 6 through Pokémon Sun and that was a mistake.
