The fit and finish on this kit seems to be outstanding, but your execution is by far what makes this a true art piece... very well done, thanks for the video of it!
I'd rather own model built and finished by this person, than the real vehicle! This is beyond any museum quality models I've seen. I don't build model kits - did when I was young - but I'm subscribing just to watch the spectacular craftsmanship!
Remember that one car you wish you never got rid of? Mine was an '81 Datsun 280zx 2+2 ... This mode build brings back memories of how much fun that little roadster was ...
Thank you. I understand your feelings. The 280Z was my dream when I was a kid. In Japan at that time, it was a popular TV drama, and the 280Z, which was remodeled into a gull wing, was very active together with the Nissan Skyline and the Nissan Silvia, which was remodeled into an open car. The filming vehicle is still owned by a drama production company, and it is displayed at events, etc., and is still popular.
I'm a model railroader who is looking for a change of pace. I'm thinking about building this kit. I really appreciate your skills and talent building these models. I'd like to thank you for the way you make these videos too, showing the various issues with the kits that need to be corrected, along with the addition information and tips you provide. The fit and finish you attain are very impressive too. All of this inspires me to try myself. My 240Z arrives in a few days!
Thank you very much. I am glad that you are pleased. We will continue to provide good information in the future. I hope Richard Kowalski Photography makes a great 240Z!
Great video! I wish I had the patience to do this myself, but watching a craftsman at work is a decent replacement. The Fairlady line is one of my favorite car designs ever; It's so classy, sleek and just clean. Your model construction does it justice!
Thank you. The 240Z was developed in response to a request from a Nissan America dealer, with the desire to build a sports car by a few developers in a small, shaded department at Nissan Headquarters. The Tamiya kit also shows the hard work of the Nissan development team. The thoughts of the developers packed into Z will fascinate people around the world. Two 240Z were delivered to each Nissan America dealer for display, but they were sold out on the day of release😀👏
I'm amazed at the level of detail in this kit out of the box! And you've done a great job with the painting and detailing on it. Datsun's Z-cars are among my favorite cars of all time, so I always look forward to these builds.
Beautiful finish, I also like the attention to the treatment of the underside paint surface compared to the main body finish which was superb. Well done a very meticulous finish and detailing.

I love how you show it unpainted and not that modified, can you give me simple tips, im originally a gunpla collector ang i wanna start on these kinds of kits for extra learning and fun, how do you start?
Ask and you shall receive! I remember requesting for you to make this exact car when Tamiya released it and boy did you deliver! So many compliments to drop, so many good things to say! The little knowledge trivias about the actual car, the attention to detail, the self-made parts. The water level in the reservoirs! I thought it was a real car in the intro. Oh my word, really, all praises to you. I wish I could commission you for this. Wonderful job, perfect editing. Well done!
they used a S30 too in Wangan Midnight with a L28 engine biturbo (from the 280ZXT) it was dark blue, only have a racing bucket and weared wide Cobra-like alloys and a roll cage, it sported the ZG body but in monochromatic scheme with chromed cone-like rearview mirrors on front fenders
Beautiful job with this car, as always. I am a real fan of your work. May I ask where you got those bamboo tweezers you use? I hate the way metal ones can damage painted parts.
Thank you. Bamboo tweezers are used to create traditional Japanese crafts. Amazon Japan sells various types of bamboo tweezers. The pink pad attached to the bamboo tweezers is a Tamiya Mini 4WD brake pad.
First, of course your work is amazing and I'm sure an inspiration to all who watch. Second, I'd love it if you would make a video or two or three about the techniques you use. For instance I see you mixing putty here but I don't know what you're mixing and I'd love to know what it is. Also it would be great if you would list all of the paints you use in your video as well as tools. In fact you could probably make a little money if you found them on amazon and did the whole affiliate thing. I'd happily by products you supported knowing you got a cut.
Actually I love to watch those ppl doing modification of all scale model but you're the exceptional case that I respect all the standard procedure but different out put!
Thank you very much. In this channel, I dare not add any difficult modifications to the kits. I am trying to show you how to make the kit look good even with minimal detailing. I am happy if you like it.
Great video. I have this kit, in its box, so watching someone else build it first is always useful. Its body work paint that always gets me. The usual Primer - Paint - Clear Coat but Ive seen some who do different/extra steps like polish the paint, etc. What do you recommend?

I am one of the modelers from the amazed crowd. Your models are really immaculate, Maitre. But please share with us, if it is not a top secret, what is mixing proportion of the paints you apply for the steering wheel as well as for the bodywork. Thanks.
thank you. I am glad that you are pleased. It's a color mix, but it's a mix that I feel, so I can't say what percentage it is. The expression of wood on the steering wheel looks like wood when 10 to 15% of Tamiya color silver is added. The fibers of the actual wood shine like pearls. The body color was adjusted by me about 10 years ago with the paint for the actual car. Currently, there is no paint formulation data. Because it is an old color, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. is erasing the data. Tamiya color TS11 Maroon is the closest color.

A masterpiece. It is clear Tamiya makes an amazing kit but in the hands of an amazing builder, you get a true masterpiece. Brilliant work.

Nice build, looks like a nice kit, I especially like the chrome trim being a separate piece.
