Luka, I am a DJI pilot with this experiences. DJI Makic has software setting "Return to Home" Settings. on your controller locate "Failsafe RTH:" Select option to Return to home when signal is lost, so your drone will never get blown away and lost for ever. See DJI information on "Failsafe RTH" below.
Failsafe RTH happens when your drone loses signal for 3 seconds when using the remote controller or 20 seconds if using Wi-Fi. When it kicks in it will do one of three things depending on how you have set it up. Firstly, if you have it set to RTH then it will ascend to the set RTH height and start to fly back to you, and once you get the signal back, then you can cancel it. Secondly, if you have it set to Hover then your drone will just hover in its current position, so you can walk towards it and re-establish your signal. However, if you fail to re-establish your signal and the Battery RTH is triggered then the drone will either return home or land depending on your Battery RTH settings. Thirdly, it can be set to land, so it’ll just land in its current position.
Additional: I have installed a Small GPS tracker, independently powered that always the drone location when flying or lost for a week. You can still find the drone a week later, but this needs to have cell phone towers to relay the signal.
Additional: I have installed a Ham Radio GPS tracker that uses APRS frequency 144.390mhz to broadcast the drone GPS location. You will need a 2 meter radio receiver that will decode and display the GPS Longitude and Latitude. This may be more than you can do now, but is the best way to never loose LIttle Lucky U, the drone. So sorry for your loss. I lost one DJI drone, and I searched for days but never recovered my drone either.
Hi! Just read your message on facebook! Thank you very much! Yes, the drone was set up to return home. On that volcano, there are really strong magnetic and electromagnetic fields and can lose signal and GPS location. Probably an error in the drone. I can't explain what happened. I would love to have a GPS tracker on the drone so if it get stoled or lost we could locate it! Is it expensive? How does it work? Thank you very much for watching and commenting! 🙏❤😊👍😉👋

You can buy small stick on gps locators for things like drones that will send out a signal to your phone to help you find lost items...you might want to get one for your next drone. These locators also help to recover stolen items.

LeAw Leave Everything and Wander no they are not too terribly expensive anywhere from $10 to $100 but they might be hard to find where you are. Amazon should have them. I suggest looking at the ones that send a strong signal for some distance.

Believe it or not guys, ...much to my own surprise I did not notice your drone-loss as much as I would have expected, myself. Your footage was really amazing anyways! (Not "just saying", that's what it is for me!)
So, I can understand your sadness over losing the drone,..BUT, as Sarah said (I have to admit I'm the "problem-solver-kind" of a person, too ;) : it is something replaceable (apart from the costs that is..) and life goes on.

Unfortunately, the area where the drone possibly landed was impossible to reach. The guy at the DJI store told us that many people lose their drone on that volcano because of the really strong magnetic and electromagnetic fields.

What a beautiful my country is, i hiked the volcano in January and i could not see that landscape do to the day was so cloudy. Sit in the edge you feel impotent to the nature. I am so sorry for what happened to you guys.
