Its an invocation to Odin, calling all his magical items, his animals, his horse, wolves and ravens and all his kennings/ different names.
Its really something special, because it IS speaking and calling to our roots and tribal/ ancient nature. We all still have it, deep in us

"Remember, that we all are brothers
    All people
    And beasts and trees
    And stone and wind
We all descend from the one great being
    That was always there
Before people lived and named it
    Before the first seed sprouted"

Well….the first seeds sprouted FAR before humans came around and were some of the first more complex multicellular organisms around, and the first to take root out of the ocean and on hard land.
      But it’s a nice poem.

I love this band. They call themselves "Amplified History", in which they perform "rituals" (that's what their concerts are called) from the Proto-Germanic age. So they WAY pre-date the Vikings. They sing in Old Norse, Old High German, Old English, Icelandic, and many more. I highly recommend watching the entire LIFA show from start to finish with your lights down low and the volume WAY up.

    • @BergenDev

so many new reactions to Heilung lately. very impressive. i believe #thecharismaaticvoice @thecarismativoice was the first to review over 4 years ago. two norse clans trying to parley before battle. as stated below...you're gonna fall down the rabbit hole. I've been to 3 rituals....SF 1/2020, Red Rocks 10/21 and St. Petersburg FL 1/2024...stage production gets more intense every tour. They sell out at every venue around the world. most songs are sung in ancient languages not used anymore. it's a life changing experience to partake in a live ritual. Maria Franz has probably the most amazing vocal range of any artist in the industry. ...oh, and this was their first ever live performance at a festival, castle in the netherlands.

Something says to me that you thoroughly enjoyed that. I do not know if you dove in to that rabbithole yet, but this group has great tracks. I thoroughly enjoy them. There is a whole live-show on youtube where this song is from. "Lifa", shot at Castefest in 2017. It was their first live performance.

    • @ropeburn6684

Probably not much. The main power comes from the number of voices themselves and doesn't need a lot of enhancement to sound like this. I suspect they used a bit of added room (artificial reverb) to glue it together, but any half-good group of a dozen chanters can sound like this.
In my opinion it's the group itself, that gives this sound. For comparison, listen to live Maori hakas for example. There's nothing but a dozen or three people chanting in unison, and it sounds chilling and intimidating and absolutely great without any effects or even amplification.
Never underestimate the power of the human voice, especially in an organised group - which is what we do best compared to any other animal.

Throat singing is a little deceptive, because most people think everything to do with the voice comes from your vocal folds, the vocal folds only control pitch everything else is your entire skull, throat and all the meaty bits in between, even when singing.
Throat singing is the meaty flappy bits above your vocal folds, slapping together to create that humming sound. Normally we use those bits to keep water and food out of our airways and away from our vocal folds, but we do use it for certain noises, like groaning or a deep 'hmm' sound, if you try to hold a 'hmm' and then open your mouth, that's practically it for the sound and then you shape your lips and tongue to create pitches like the stereotypical "Ohmm" is just a round 'O' shape with your lips and a relaxed dropped jaw.
Overtones for polyphonic singing is also almost entirely tongue, lips and nasal cavity. I imagine it like singing and whistling at the same time, it's the tongue position of a whistle that does it, basically anyway. It makes your tongue act like the reed in a wind instrument, effectively adding a second "vocal fold" in the front of your mouth.

Dear channel owner, this is what you heard from the Norse or Nordic heritage. This is from the heritage of the Germanic peoples, specifically the Scandinavian peoples, and there is a lot of their heritage and a lot of heritage from the Germanic peoples and their tribes. Do not forget that the Germanic tribes feared the Romans more than the Celts, and you can search. About the prehistoric stories between the Romans, the Celts and the Germans, on Google. Greetings to you
