An awesome and enlightening interview! I was fixed to my handphone the whole of 93 minutes. As usual Prof Kishore was at his brilliant best!
Why hasn't any Western leader come to Asia to learn from Asians? White supremacy attitude! Why is the US treating China as an enemy despite China only interested in trade and not spreading its political ideology, political system or meddling in the internal affairs of the US and other nations? White supremacy and US primacy! For the US, it is always a zero-sum game of "you're with me or you're against me". Behind that deceiving facade of "defending" democracy, freedom and human rights, USA is an imperialist fascist forcing many weaker nations to adopt its political system, "values", culture and Christianity. Many nations and societies have been destroyed by American government, CIA and their Western allies, resulting in human misery of Biblical proportion! United Nation should set up an independent tribunal to investigate the USA and its Western allies for genocides and crime against humanity! The world cannot continue to be blind and naive to the crimes against humanity by America!

I'd start with food, water, a place to live, safety and then a cheap smartphone with free internet -- books are expensive, I'd rather have food.
Indonesia has great potential too. Hope Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and other ASEAN nations can progress well together.
Yes, they will develop their potential when they sort out their disputes and territorial invasions by the CCP.

Kishore is clear and candid in his observations and analysis. I hope his most recent book, HAS CHINA WON?, will be widely read internationally. But as a Canadian, I am discouraged that so many North Americans are either oblivious, ignorant or arrogant with respect to Asian experiences and ideas from which we can learn.

I'm Canadian too and it is embarrassing that even most of my friends and acquaintances have eaten the poison pill or American propaganda. Try as I may I can't seem to get through to them that China is not our enemy even after we kidnapped one of China's top citizens. Our Trudeau government has in a few short years managed to completely destroy our strong repitation as a peace keeper and peace maker and given us a reputation of a rogue state, and war monger.

These two gentlemen are really fascinating, it's a while since I can stay on a video for 90 mins (even top seller movies) but you keep me all the way. I have been a fan of Prof Kishore for a while and this is one of his most relaxed and 'open' interviews. Everything he said is spontaneous and so wisely delivered. There are a lot of wisdoms in Kishore's talks. Thank you Kishore and Gita. I'm now a better person.
Kishore is less formal and more relaxed ( less hesitant)in this interview , compared to other Kishore interviews from other channels.
He has to be careful against western media anti China agenda, loaded questions and be tactful as well.

Kishore is not only an ex diplomat, but a philosopher. Thus EQ must be high. Knows when to formal, what to say; what not to say.

I think that Indonesia's tourism industry can learn from the service consciousness of Hong Kong 10 years ago. Apart from the natural geographical conditions, the other two factors are safety and service awareness
This is a more relaxed and better interview than the others of his that I have seen. Here Kishore Mahbubani does not to dance politely and delicately with a white interviewer for a western audience. He can be more frank in his response.

As a Chinese, I want to say that the South China Sea needs to establish a code of conduct in the South China Sea as soon as possible. I believe that the politicians in the South China Sea have the wisdom to do another great thing for the long-term stability, cooperation and common prosperity of the whole Asia. Asia should have its own consensus on Ideological and political cooperation.
I agree, without consensus other remote countries which have in no way near that area is the one doing meddling.

If I am not mistaken. Pak gita saat bicara Indonesia bisa nyontoh Vietnam ngerasa kayak “kenapa kita belajar dari Vietnam padahal kita lebih maju?” tapi secara sopan. Namun kemudian dibalas oleh Kisshore bahwa jangan berhenti untuk belajar tiru yg terbaik. Contoh singapore ke shenzen yg bukan apa2 saat itu. Insightful, knowledgeable, straightforward and well-In tentioned talk. But unfortunately I do not think many Westerners, especially those in America, will be happy to hear it. Western media's policy about their report on China during the last few decades has disinformed, misled the public there. Thus their biased concept about China. When money controls politics, sensible government policy is hard to come by. Keep up Professor Kishore Mahbubani, so that people can understand things outside their countries better, which will definitely to some extent contribute to world peace.
ASEAN doesn't need Nobel Peace Prize, because the Prize has lost all its credibility!

I always love to listen to Kishore， but Mr. Gita really suprises me, too. Such a gentlemen.
51:00 I have to stress that copying despite easy, is actually very hard to determine which method or examples are the right ones to copy. India, Taiwan and many other countries copied democracy and political systems from the western world, especially from America. And they are stuck with similar problems the west faced. Singapore's true strength is not simply about copying, its about determining the root of the problem and focuses specifically on the problem at hand. In another words, its about efficacy and pragmatism. What India and Taiwan copied are the ideologies, which has blocked them from facing the real problems, much less solve them.

What you have discussed with mr.KIshore, that's what president Jokowi has been doing, opening up airports and international airports all across the country, especially tourist areas and at the same time, he is building highways, introduced Omnibus law to attract FDI which eventually create jobs for the Indonesian people. Maybe the next homework for president Jokowi is to eliminate corruptions in all levels of government.
The government has to stress STEM in education instead of religious institutions which makes us going back to 8th century mentality. Actually, mr.KIshore forgot to mention that China is copying Europe, Japan and US to advance their country in the last 40 years, China stressed on STEM for all their young students and are sending 300,000 students to developed countries every year. Lastly, it is an interesting subject to discuss Indonesian direction with the expert as good as him. Hope you can invite mr.Luhut Panjaitan in the next episode in which he will follow up what you have discussed today. Good luck !

Thailand, the land of smiles. I visited Thailand with my family a few years ago. I am amazed how well developed their tourism infrastructure is. I can plan my trip personally and from overseas without going through any agencies. I can depend on local booking of tours and hotels via internet and at the hotels. My family feel safe roaming the streets at night. I do not feel that I am being ripped off. And most of all, Thais are so welcoming and friendly. Added plus: We love Thai cuisine. Indonesia has many beautiful islands. Should be able to draw and attract many overseas tourists if you get your infrastructure right, just as Kishore advised.
