  • Hi there - If you have recently got a new camera or are just getting into photography, or have been doing it a while and frustrated with your progress, this video might be for you. In it, I visit a new location, Osea Beach Huts in Essex, and discuss somethings that have helped me improve my photography and may be useful to you.
If you would like a print of any photo that appears in one of my videos, please email keith@keithmasonphotography.com with a screenshot of the image you would like, and the size you would like (A4, 8 x 10, 6 x 9 = £30). These prints are signed but not numbered. Thanks for your support :)

Happy New Year! 😁 I had an expensive year, after I dropped my camera and lens out of the tripod mount onto a tiled floor! Smashing the lens and damamging the body of my camera! That was a very expensive mistake I won't make again!

Oh Emma!!! That really hurts!! You may have seen a video I posted back in June when my main camera took a accidental drowning after the tripod was knocked over by a wave. *Luckily* it survived after spending hours cleaning the camera and lens. The screen gained an electronic boo-boo which I thought was permanent but suddenly fixed itself at Christmas time. I'm v. sorry for your lost gear. It is the worst feeling in the world (photographically) - worse than missing a sunrise, or driving past a wonderful vista and there is no where to stop, or finding that your client hates their portraits, even though that's what they really look like!! All the best to you and Shaun and the fur-babies.

Great information. Question, how do you clean your lens? Not breath and T shirt method. Leica tec says never use your breath , it is mildly caustic that will build up. Also never use real cotton balls. They will scratck the lens.
The beach house photos were great, especially the individual house, easy to overlook.

Robert, I have never, ever cleaned my lenses with the "breath and t-shirt" method (well not often!!). In my camera bag I carry lens wipes from Zeiss that are disposable and great for on the fly cleaning, but I have a Zeiss lens cleaning spray which I use with a clean glasses cloth (I also use the same on my reading glasses and my computer screen). I also carry lens cloths and microfibre cloths in my bag. I use the lens cloth to remove smears, and the microfibre to wipe the lens of water droplets if the weather if moist.
Thanks for the thumbs up on the beach hut photos! Much appreciated.
