GLASGOW and RIVER CLYDE Walking Tour | Scotland Walking Tour | 4K

Join us for a stroll through Glasgow Green to the river Clyde!
Glasgow Green was established in the 15th century making it the oldest park in the city of Glasgow. It is located in the East end of the city on the northern bank of the river Clyde.
We begin our walk at the Doulton Fountain which is the largest fountain ever constructed from terracotta in the world. The fountain was built to commemorate Queen Victorias Golden Jubilee in 1887.
Behind the fountain , we pass the entrance to the People's Palace, a museum and greenhouse. Walking through the park, look out for other historic sites such as the James Watt statue and the decorative St Andrews Suspension Bridge.
Standing 44m tall is the Nelson Monument, a commemorative obelisk honouring Admiral Nelson after his death during the battle of Trafalgar. Built in 1806, it was the first monument to Admiral nelson to be constructed in Britain.
The tree lined path continues onto the Glasgow 2014 monument which celebrates the year Glasgow hosted the Commonwealth Games.
Lastly, we pass through the McLennan Arch before following the river Clyde.
