During the scene where Charlie is talking to Nick on the phone and admitted that Nick was right - Kit said in an interview that he was in the room to say his lines to Joe while that scene was being filmed, and that he was in awe of Joe’s acting. I have to agree. Joe in particular has really leveled up this season. I hope an Emmy is in his future.
Im with you on that one scene with Charlie's mom, like, he is CLEARLY crying and upset and first thing you say is "are you texting Nick?" and the solution of him feeling unwell, a paracetamol!! that was sort of like a comedy relief that I needed cause I did laugh to that one, what did she think it was supposed to do? lol
1) the whole basing everything on 2 tests is a thing in America too. and 2) every one of these reactions remembers Darcy's gran from a different iconic role and its so nice to see.
This episode broke me. Kit and Joe did a fantastic job. I really enjoy watching your reaction videos. Makes me feel better Im not the only one tearing up. 😊
Charlie's mum does my head in too. My mum used to always think and expect the worst from me. It actually messed me up for a long time, low self esteem etc. I've only just came across your channel and I'm loving your HS reactions. Best I've watched in ages ❤
I cried several times in this episode, including when Tori hugs Charlie, and especially at the beach scene between Nick and his aunt. Exquisite writing and performances. So please don’t ever feel the need to apologise for getting teary when you’re watching this show - tears are healthy and we need to normalise men being openly emotional, just as much as we need for normalise talking openly about mental health.
OMG - that was a lot. Seeing Charlie in pain and Nick so worried about him, really got to me. I agree that Alice wrote a great script with some important messages that is so important for people, especially young people, to hear.
Charlie's dad is so much more 'maternal' than his mum. I wish we could normalize fathers providing emotional support. He supports Charlie's mum in this case, but it shouldn't be the default for 'mothering' to be only up to the mum. Great reaction.
This ep covered so much ground in all of their developments, I was all over the place watching it, love Darcy's nan she is so sweet, Charlie's mum reminds me of my auntie, they love you but if it's not how they see it or want it then hold on to your socks because they will try to get it their way, loving Nick's uncles, I can see her being a great support for him, he's endured quiet a drastic change in he's life in a very short space of time, and she's right Love can't cure mental illness takes a lot of strength, support and love to make it work, their scenes together were so touching Nik broke me when he said 'I really Love him' which we know he does, but he also needs he's own support which I believe he has in Tara, Tao, he's uncles, mum and the rest of course will follow along with Charlie and Tori, she is such a fierce strong protective sister, love her. They did an amazing job once again.
The exams thing is definitely not a uk thing. Here in brazil there is a single exam that tells you if you're getring into a public university or not. You can re-take it at least, but it only happens once a year which is rough
I fully understand someone like Charlie's mum. She deep down really loves her son, but there is always a reason why she treats Charlie in this way, and we find that out near the end of the season. I understand her frustrations, as I have seen many of my friends mums like her. My mum was never that strict, neither was my dad, who was always very liberal with me.
Raising children, especially teens, can be rough. I really wish they’d spent the time the prior two seasons showing how Jane picked up her parenting skills from her own (authoritarian) parents. As it stands, the show missed an opportunity to show how a potentially good parent can end up stunted, though they later show how that doesn’t have to be forever. But there’s already a lot of ground to cover in just the kids. The comparison to Dianne’s a non-starter: she’s a trained and experienced mental health professional. I often see the same mannerisms in experienced teachers (particularly those specializing in children with emotional and behavioral challenges). Those credentials come with a lot of distilled insight that most people don’t have casual access to.
A few points: People with mental illnesses often spend most of their energy trying to appear normal. As far as his mother, many parents are stricter and have a harder time with having a teenage child. Why she didn't see the eating disorder, I don't know. Maybe it was a plot idea. Kids and parents disagree and argue many times. This made it hard for Charlie to tell them. It is critical that parents tell and children to understand that 98% of them will always rally to help their child in a crisis, They will stand down from any disagreements like this.. They did everything they could to help him when he told them. He mentioned that he was glad that his parents could afford it. It's a good chance that they can't but won't tell him that. Another point that parents will never tell their child is that they would do anything to help them, even sacrifice their own lives for their child.
9 is highest grade now, like A I hate as can't compare easy with younger, can't wait to see who I like on 29th, I look at him to keep track as like him but keeping distance as people say he is straight and worried him getting close (standing near me) and falling for him, I estimate he 6'4" and it's horrible as tall guys make me feel I melt away when they grab or hug me
I finishd it and dont be so harsh on charlies mom, i understand her and i fell sorry for her, she tried and she gets better and of course nicks aunt is like nicks mom their are sisters and i know darcys gran from eastenders and so much pressures fir Tara
Everyone is getting at Charlie’s mum but you don’t know what her upbringing was like which could be why she is like she is. You have to look at the bigger picture. Charlie is 15 and like kids his age think they know what they want all the time and they don’t. I would never speak to my parents like he does at 15 . In my eyes he’s very lucky in a lot of ways.
It's a bit unconfortable to watch you refering to Charlie's mom. I know that she makes mistakes, but it happens when we love and care for someone. And I understand her, Charlie is putting Nick above everything and he has other responsabilities, also
I do agree to an extent, I get that Jane is coming from good intentions and is looking out for charlie's best interests but I think it comes down to empathy which she doesn't have/struggles with. I suppose when someone has poor mental health they need to feel like people care about them and when someone comes accross so harsh and dismissive it can makes things ten times worse (especially if that person is their mother). Not saying that she is intentionally behaving like this but she needs to become aware of how she is portraying herself.
@@NottsLaad it does not justify to call a mon with bad words. You criticizing is enough. Of course, its fiction. Her actions, all of them, is thinking she is helping. Sometimes we are close and too blind. I had a friend who commit suicide and she gave many signs. I just realized when she was gone.

LITERALLY!!! Jane just needs to think about what she is saying 😂

You are the cutest when you are mad at Charlie's mom 😂

You can go ridiculous. That's okay.

I lost any sympathy for Charlie’s mum when she could clearly see he’d been crying and didn’t comfort him or try to find out why he was upset.
Jane needs therapy! She has ZERO self-awareness!!!😢😢😢
Watch towards the end of the season, and everything about her will become much clearer.
@@johnking5174 I have seen it. I still say she needs therapy!
