Hah, your welcome. I make plenty of mistakes and do try to show them in the videos when I can. If I can not show them, I make an effort to explain what I do wrong.
Thank you! So far I am really enjoying this particular engraver. Especially after I figured out I put a portion of it together incorrectly. I was getting so frustrated with it but then after doing a little bit more research I found out I put a washer in the wrong location. Made all the difference in the world.
I have the same machine and I can engrave no issue but I can't cut with it at all. and ideas? using 3mm MDF material on a hobeycomb with lightburn. Settings 100% with 300mm/sec and the best I get is a clean engrave. I also have air assist on.
I wonder if your focus is off? I cut 3mm at 90% power, 300mm/min. Also, make sure your lens is clean (and not broken!). Loosen your laser head so you can lift it off, remove the air assist nozzle and have a peek at the lens. You can clean it with an eye-glass lens wipe wrapped around the end of a q-tip. If you don't have any wipes, you can also use the same q-tip soaked in isopropyl alcohol. Just be careful not to scratch the lens.
I was thinking to buy ortur laser how is ur experience with it I saw newely launch Roly lasermatic 10 it's completely or most of the parts metal I confused which to buy
I have had issues with it but come to find out it was my fault all along. I put a washer on the wrong side of the belt adjuster causing it to bind lol. Other than that, it has been a good laser. There are talks about how the built-in air-assist will actually hurt the laser by it getting hotter than normal and get clogged up but the work around is to always turn your air pump on when using it or just take the air assist nozzle off the laser head.
Good morning Michael great description of the Ortur3. I'm interested in purchasing this laser however there's one caveat I can't seem to find the answer too perhaps you can enlighten me. I refurbish wine barrels and look to engrave the tops of them. They are mostly 22" inches in diameter and about 3/4 to 1"inch in thickness. Would this laser do the job? I look forward to your thoughts! Thank you , Hugh
It can, if you can figure out how to make it work. The laser itself has about a 15.5" x 15.5" working area. As long as your engraving is no larger than that, the basic laser will work. You can pick up the entire laser and set it down on a surface you want to engrave. For the barrels, you may have to come up with a jig for sitting the engraver on top of or sliding the barrels under it. Feel free to DM me via FB or IG if you need more info or want discuss ideas.
Hello. Here are a few things to check: Y-Axis Movement - Pushing it with your hand (slowly), should move the Y-Axis smoothly and not feel tight in some places. Belt tension - Not too tight, not too loose. Rear Belt Gears - Make sure the gears are not loose. There is a set screw that holds the gears to the motor. Make sure both sides are tight. Idler Adjustments (Belt Tension Adjusters) - Make sure the two front idler pulleys are installed correctly. I installed mine with the washer on the wrong part of the bolt, it caused lots of problems. th-cam.com/video/7kBa45u-vWw/w-d-xo.html
Hi, I don't know if you got your laser sorted but if not here is a video that might help you calibrate the x and y axis. th-cam.com/video/v8kOH5McCjY/w-d-xo.html
Question, did you get this through zbanx as a collaboration? I was recently reached out to by then offering me a laser engraver but I’m not sure how legit it is
Can this be ran from an android phone, I see on the website it can. Can you only do pictures from the phone app or can you do the things you did on the phone app?
I just got the LM3 and I can't get it to finish anything using lightburn by USB. It just randomly stops in the middle of the engraving and flashes codes that are not listed in manual. Won't respond to anything in lightburn until I reboot the LM3. Using the phone app or Laser GRBL on WIFI it works fine.
That is odd. I had trouble with mine but their support team really helped. If you haven't done so, I highly recommend you create a ticket with them on that and also join the "Ortur Laser Master 3" Facebook group. They are both super helpful. Also, there might be a firmware update on the LM3 to help it work better with Lightburn. The support group can direct you to the download and instructions on how to install it. ortur.tech/support/
@@MonkeyWoodworks Thanks. My issue was windows 11 related and had to disable a setting and now it works great. I found the fix on the facebook group you recommended. ORTUR also had a firmware update for me but i had it fixed before they sent it to me which im not sure it would have fixed it or not.
How good is the customer service? I just went through a nightmare with...another company. No one seems to pay attention to customer service until you need it. By then it's too late. Great video :)
I have not gone through customer service but their support is good. I had an issue with my machine and opened a support ticket with them. I was able to get an answer after a few back and fourth q&a's and was eventually up and running again.
Lightburn doesn't work with the LM3 over wifi yet. Lightburn has an update coming sometime soon that will have it enabled. Some have managed to get it to work but it isn't supported yet. Have to use USB with it for now. Laser GRBL works over wifi now if you need it
I cut 1/4" using: air-assist on,120mm/min speed, 90% power and over focusing the laser. I use a piece of 3mm basswood, lay it on my 1/4" ply, and drop the laser down so that the laser shield rests on top of that basswood and lock the height in place. Doing so puts the focal point more towards the middle of the 1/4" vs on top of it allowing it to cut deeper.
I have had this machine for 7 months and it has gradually lost power and the customer service is really bad. They advertise a 24/7 customer support but this is a lie and they operate 9-5pm China time. Expect one reply every 24hours. They’ll avoid any wrongdoing. I really wouldn’t recommend it. Worked well for first 4 months. The warranty doesn’t mean anything to Ortur.
Hmm. Are you keeping up with your laser lens cleaning? If you do not clean it every now and then, a degrade in laser power is exactly what will happen. The dust/dirt will build up and start to block or distort the laser. Worse case, it can cause the lens to mess up and you have to buy a new lens. I have not had to deal with Ortur customer service.
@@MonkeyWoodworks Ortur advertise the lens needs cleaning every 50hours… I’ve had to clean mine every 4-5hours… cleaned both internal and external lenses as advised by Ortur but the tests remain the same with the cutting power…
My personal opinion is 50 hours is WAY over the limit. If I am cutting a lot of wood such as making ornaments, I clean my lens every few hours. Have you inspected your lens? It could be damaged and that is why it is degraded so much.
Sorry but you are totally crazy to believe that your are "unable to see laser from this angle..." ! At this power, reflectives ray will finaly blind you ! NEVER NEVER use cutting laser machine without protection !!! PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOUR EYES 🙏

Hah, your welcome. I make plenty of mistakes and do try to show them in the videos when I can. If I can not show them, I make an effort to explain what I do wrong.
There is a setting in Lightburn that you can enable to fire the laser when framing that I have found usefull. It is under Device Settings!
I actually stumbled upon it shortly after that video. It's been super helpful!
Great video. Great info for new people learning about this stuff.

Sir, I looked on Ortur for the mentioned Excel file, but was unable to locate it. Can you assist? 14:40
Sorry about that. I have added a link to the description now.
I’m a total newbie. I made 1/8 plywood template on my bandsaw. Any idea how I could replicate with the Ortur 3? Great vid, man!
I do not follow you exactly. You want to re-make the same template on the laser? If so you will need to draw your template in Lightburn.
Love to see a greyscale photo engrave. Thx.
Like a photo engraving on wood?
The Y-axis is short, so the circle is crushed, so tell me what to do.

Hey there. The engraver was given to me to let me check out and I used the opportunity to post a video of the LM3 and share it with my subscribers.
is the air pump just on full blast?
I run it full blast
Can this be ran from an android phone, I see on the website it can. Can you only do pictures from the phone app or can you do the things you did on the phone app?
It can yes however I was never able to get it to see the LM3. I believe that the app is a very limited experience vs Lightburn or even LaserGRBL.

Sorry one more question, Is your ortur 3 works good with LightBurn via wi fi? Mine does not finish engraving =(((
The wifi in my garage is very bad so I do not use wifi. I just have a 15ft USB extension cord to connect to my LM3

I couldn't get it to cut through 1/4" pine plywood at 30 passes at 100% power I guess its either me the wood or the laser is not as strong advertised

Pls share me your base grids? So i can make it also. Ty
I found the base grid on the official Ortur Laser Maser 3 Facebook Group under the files section.
Can I ask you for file to do the same board!
Are you referring to the grid?

The board I use under it is 23.25" wide x 26" deep.
