Gurkum Poti - A folksong written in the 1870s from Kinnaur, Himachal (with Hindi captions)

This song tells the story of a woman named Gurkum Poti. Gurkum Poti was a woman born in the Bisht family in Ywarangi village of Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh. After being married in Jangi village she had a hard time fitting in as there was a relative scarcity of water in the village. She returned to her maiden home and had a child with a man named Dewa Ram from Chiney (Kalpa) village. Dewa was from the Charas family. Both Charas and the Bisht family were very rich and influential at the time. However, Dewa refused to accept the child as his own. Gurkum Poti urged her brother to talk to the King Shamsher Singh (b.1838 - d.1914). But her brother Gurdas simply ignored her. It was Gurkum Poti herself who travelled to the Rampur ( roughly 100 kms via NH today) to share her plight in the court of Bashahr where the rulers of the Kingdom presided. Raja summoned Dewa and it was proved the child was his, based on the similarity in looks and mannerism of the two.
There is however a big twist here. The King himself fell for the beautiful maiden Gurkum Poti. We don't want to imply whether it was for good or bad. But the woman's stern decision making is surely something. The lyrics of the song surely talks about the commendable change of her fate.
This song is mentioned in the famous scholar Rahul Sankrityan's book 'Kinner Desh mein'. It was presumably written back in 1870s and is based on true events like many folksongs of the Himalayan regions are. Is there a folksong in your region that tells the story of a woman like this?
