    Only once was I tangled. I had lost control in a wave, the other kiter coming from the other direction. His kite crossed over my kite, my kite was still in the air. He started to yell at me and used immediately his safety. I did not answer and calmly swam under his kite and untangled the two kites in less than 20s. He continued to yell and had to return to the beach, I just did my water start and continued kitting. I talked to him back on the beach and explained that I was sorry but had lost control, explained to him that yelling and immediately using his safety was a mistake but he was the type of guy that knew it all better than you. I will just avoid him in future.

      Hey Ian, sounds like you did well ! Unfortunately there are many kiters out there who just like to yell in those situations, instead of nicely communicating. I had also some situations like this, even when everything ended up ok they still wanted to argue, for sure it's not a good vibe. I hope this episode will help some of those kiters to change their ways and remind them that this is a sport where it's nicer to have a community and help each other than to be on your own or yell at others.

    Nice man 👌 I have seen one tricky situation 2 kites tangled with offshore wind... in this situation you have to react fast.. it was not possible to untangle so the two guys have used all the safety systems and swim back to the shore (1km with 30knts in the face) exhausted !

      Thank you Baptiste :))
      Yes definitely a good reaction of ejecting everything, and hopefully before they went in the water for a session they made sure that there was a rescue boat watching for the kiters?!

    Perfect video! Fully agree that -if possible- you shouldn’t release aa this can make the situation worse and you lose the possibility to do anything about it. 👍👍

    I have experienced two "tangles". The first one, we were close to shore. Our lines hit and kites lost control, but when my kite hit water, my kite lines were on the bottom. I could see they weren't twisted, but if my kite rose, they would tangle again or worse. So I released completely to keep my kite on the water and hoping my control bar would just be dragged by the kite from under the other lines.. An instructor was nearby on shore, and I knew he could grab my kite. He told me I shouldn't just release, because if the kite caught wind, the other person could be dragged by two kites. But from where I was, and my level of experience at the time, that seemed the best way to keep my lines low so the other kite could escape without risk of my kite rising and twisting around the lines again. I should note another time I witnessed a similar situation except the lines were much more twisted. In that situation, one larger kite stayed on the water and the smaller kite was out of control, but not lifting both kites. Maybe the owner of the larger kite was pulling a line to keep it on the water. At any rate, they drifted to shore. I grabbed the larger kite and set it on the beach. Then both guys got to the beach and disconnected lines to sort out a complicated tangle.
    In my other tangle, I was walking my kite up the beach. I saw a guy trying to impress a woman - instead of watching his kite and surroundings he was looking at her while he swung his kite to launch, but right into mine. What was really irritating was the friction of the lines melted one of my lines, which snapped. I had to buy a new line, but no one was hurt and I learned to be wary of any other kites on the beach, especially if the person seemed not so in control or not paying attention.

      Hey James,
      Thank you so much for sharing your experiences.
      Yes indeed the first situation seems like it was not necessary to eject your kite immediately, as your bar could stuck on the lines of the other kiter and get you both in a worse situation, but luckily everything went smoothly. It's not always easy to know exactly what to do, this is why I hope this episode will help as much as possible for those kind of situations.
      It is nice to hear that you help other kiters in trouble :) Everything is better when we help each other.
      This other kiter's behavior doesn't sound nice at all. Unfortunately some kiters are not taking launching and landing so seriously and not focusing enough when this is precisely when most of the accidents happen. A new episode will soon be out for safely launching and landing a kite so stay tuned and thanks again for sharing ;)

    I tangled with my buddy whilst talking to her … I looked at her instead of the kites. It was a nightmare , I had no idea what I should do. I got wrapped in the lines and almost lost my hand

    Hi Petar, this is also one of my biggest fears. What are the best ways to avoid getting tangled ?

      @kitesurfexperiencebypetar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kerstin, as I mention in the end of the episode, to avoid Tangling with someone, keep your distance with other kiters and follow the Right Of Way rules, which we are going to see in the next episode :))

    They should do a video “how to talk to another kiter without tangling your kites “

    tried it once in kind of light winds where a guy "decided" to loop his kite around my lines. Ejected quickly and held on to the chickenloop by hand. Unfortunatly we were not able to untwist them so had to fully release it. It was in winter so had to swim a couple of 100mtrs in freezing water to get to my kite :-(

      Yes. I felt pretty much in control. Considered climbing through the other guys lines but decided not to take the chance since it was too deep to be standing.
