    Thank you for your valuable work in this area Professor Stanley. Sadly, it is very much needed in modern day America.

    I purchased 'How Fascism Works' on Audible last month and I'm glued to it. It is an absolute must read / listen, particularly for younger generations coming through in the US. It's not enough to merely know that Trump is bad news. Americans need to know the fascist tactics at play in order to better equip themselves when speaking to people who might not necessarily follow Trump, but have been lured into the normalization of a guy who is a political abnormality. I've been sharing the title on as many YT videos as a I can to help people gain the imperative knowledge required to defend democracy in the United States. Excellent work Jason. Massive love from Ireland.

      His book has nothing to do with Fascism whatsoever. Stanley does not know how Fascism works ... just like 99% of the Americans.

      @@Historia-Magistra-Vitae.It's a shame you don't elaborate on that, explaining what it is you believe he is actually describing in the book. It's fine and well telling us that what Stanley is describing isn't Fascism, but if you don't elaborate, we're merely left wondering why you would be of this opinion rather than considering your opinion in more depth.

      @@VelcroKittie : Well first of all he doesn't even understand the difference between Fascism and National Socialism, even though they were fundamentally two different ideologies. Then he goes on a tirade how the "American right" is close to Fascism while he is referring to Nazism and completely disregards the simple fact that both Fascism and National Socialism were 3rd position movements based on socialism while being both anti-capitalist and anti-marxist. There is no connection between modern day American politics and what happened here in Europe during the WW2 era.

      You are utterly deluded & clearly, at best, an undergrad with poor historical skills.
      Claiming that both fascism in general & National Socialism particularly were based on socialism is not only inaccurate, but a jejune misrepresentation.
      You make so many claims, most of which are loaded with technical terms you don’t define.
      You have no idea what you’re talking about, and you are an apologist for right-wing narratives. @@Historia.Magistra.Vitae.

      @@Summalogicae _"Claiming that both fascism in general & National Socialism particularly were based on socialism is not only inaccurate, but a jejune misrepresentation. "_
      It's a historical fact, hun. Both had a centralized government with a centralized and planned economy almost identical to the USSR under Stalin. In both ideologies, the government was meant to control the economy from top down, including businesses and also to decide what was to be produced, in what quantity, by what methods, and to whom it was to be distributed, as well as what prices would be charged and what wages would be paid... in the name of "common good" or more specifically, what was deemed best for the nation as a whole.
      _"Germany's economic policy is conducted exclusively in accordance with the interests of the German people. In this respect I am a fanatical socialist, one who has ever in mind the interests of all his people."_
      - Hitler, Speech on the 21st Anniversary of the National Socialist Party (24 February 1941)
      _"The State exists for all the people, but is also above the people, and, if necessary, against the people. It is against them whenever they attempt to place their particular interests above the general interests of the Nation. ... It is the purpose of Fascism to unify the Nation through the sovereign State, the State which is above all and can be against all, because it represents the moral continuity of the Nation. Without State there is no Nation."_
      - Mussolini, Speech on August 8th, 1925

    If I recall correctly, there were a few books about fascism that were published around the same time, likely in response to a far-right international movement to bring to power nationalistic leaders. But I chose to read _How Fascism Works_ and was not disappointed.

    I’m just exhausted from looking at “how does fascism work” stuff and being able to name off examples of those exact things happening all over the place. The description of Nazi education is pretty much what is being built in America esp. in Florida.

    I am really impressed by this guy's work.
    one nitpick is "the largest uh representations of gender fluidity" is such a reductive way to speak of transland intersex people, reducing research of their medicine and biology, tesamonials of their existence to mere poetry. History forgot a lot of science along with culture in that event. It deserves careful awareness today to minimize further damage.

    • @LethalBubbles
      @LethalBubbles หลายเดือนก่อน

      and LIVES! perhaps the most important part and I was emphasizing the science. hundreds of years of documentation. 20th century German science is still deeply influential today because it is our bridge from the old world to new, but those who were suppressed in that book burning crystalnach and in the holocaust are still missing today. I don't think peoole realizeljust how damaging that was. Trans medicine having barely progressed is one example of a consequence.

    Stanley seems to be telling us that we are not in Terra Incognita what with DeSantis and Florida. Just a block away from where I stayed in Berlin was a club that revived the "Cabaret Era of 30s Germany" I was at the Hotel Remter on Meinikestrasse. Now closed I think. Once precedence is established it can be repeated.

    Beau Of The Fifth Column has some great videos about fascism. Check out his "let's talk about 14 characteristics" and "let's talk about trump's accomplments" videos. Beau is a national treasure and he predicted everything trump did. And when asked how he did it he said he "quit looking at what the GOP has done and started looking at what fascists have done". And he was pretty damn accurate.

    If you ask people in poverty stricken countries what they want for their children’s education, they will say the skills to get a job. That’s what US schools should be teaching, and ditch humanities that have sunk to political activism. Once the child learns to read, let them decide what they want to read, it doesn’t have to be LGBQT… it may be Dr. Seuss’s books…it shouldn’t concern you. And this would save taxpayers money, and a lot of turmoil. Leave children alone.

    • @glossypots

      So you totally disagree with this lecture? No education for the sake of learning, exploring the world around you? How do you think we can acquire critical thinking skills? All trades are important, all workers are important as a contribution to society as a whole, but it seems to me people who espouse your views usually have no problem with indoctrination through religion? I may be wrong you may an atheist or agnostic and just look at the world through practical, pragmatic eyes?

    • @IamBrixTM
      @IamBrixTM ปีที่แล้ว

      No. We educate children on what helps them function in society. Not just in workplace. That means giving them the language/understanding to be comfortable with their sexuality/gender orientation. When we don’t have this, then people live in the closet and suppress who they are. If we care about the health and well being of our children then you shouldn’t take issue with giving them this necessary education.
      Reminder: Sex/Gender panic is one of the points of fascism. The “leave children alone” rhetoric is toxic and used by fascists to demonize and otherize queer people.

    • @IamBrixTM
      @IamBrixTM ปีที่แล้ว

      @@glossypotsExactly, so ironic their comment was under this lecture in particular
      Not only could there be a religious angle as far as indoctrination but even more so, their point assumes the default education that isn’t LGBT+ is also the default and therefore okay. They take no issue with the heteronormative culture being pushed on children.
