Did you cover the Dreamcast logo with anything before putting on the cream for whitening? I really want to do this with the one I just got cause it’s pretty yellow…but I don’t want to mess it up.
Great video! :D Random reset is often not caused by the power supply. I some cases you need to clean the contacts under the door lid switch. If your dc resets to the menu screen that is.
Hey there PC. I think I may need to replace the capacitors on my power supply, I'm still getting a random reset even after putting extra solder on the pins. Is there a parts list somewhere so I can know which capacitors to order? Thank you.
If you hadn't found it by now, there are modern Power Supply replacement kits for the Dreamcast that are drop-in-and-play. These will be called Pico PSU or (name-brand) DreamPSU. They're substantially smaller and run much cooler then the OEM PSU (thanks largely to the transformer being moved to the wall wart.) This is recommended if you're doing an SD-Card replacement for the GDRom as the new media solution draws significantly less power (leading to overheating inside modded systems,) and is relatively cheap (only $50 for the name-brand!)
I'll do you one better. Here's a link: www.ebay.com/itm/10-Pcs-72V-400mA-Radial-Lead-Type-PPTC-Resettable-Fuse-PolySwitch-X72-XF040/322612265619?hash=item4b1d308293:g:VAkAAOSwLlpZqNYi&frcectupt=true
The other day I felt like playing my dreamcast but when I turned it wouldn’t read any disc. It would spin the disc a little bit but wouldn’t move the laser. My last Dreamcast I tried to recalibrate the laser but I was horrible and I broke it. So latter I got another Dreamcast from GameStop for 50 dollars (the one I was first talking about) on the back it has a sticker that says GameStop premium refurbished void if removed (you have to remove it to open it up) but I have been hearing bad things about GameStop lately and I don’t know if they will fix it, and I don’t want to open it up after I screwed up last time. I also want to do a hard drive mod on my first one. Your the first guy I think of about this stuff.
@@MrTea101 The New-Old-Stock of replacement GDRom drives is drying up. There are compatible drive pieces out there (GDRom uses the same hardware as CDRom) that can be cannibalized from non-working units. Alternatively, the drive can be completely replaced by a USB drive or SD Card reader with very little work.
Subscribing because you are probably THE first US/CA youtuber I've seen who included a European counterpart. Thank you!

No, it doesn't affect the logo.
Real nice process man

Great one, lad. Even with the European and Japanese versions is a big must.

Couldn't help you there. I've never done any repairs on the power supply itself.
@@DreamcasticChannel awwe it's ok PC. I'll keep researching around.

@@ZROGST Thank you so much! I'll look for that!
Do you need a multi-region BIOS with GDEMU? Cheers
No
Could you repeat the specs of the fuse for the controller ports?

It sounds more like the one of the motors (either the one that spins the disc or the one that moves the laser on the track) than the laser.
It’s the one that moves the laser, disc still spins
Sometimes it will struggle to spin the disc though if it's dying. It will kind of spin a bit, stop, and repeat.
Anyway of fixing? Or can it be replaced?
