4o yrs playing Blues and I NEVER heard of Eric Gales until about two months ago..so many out there but I'm so glad I did..what a player ! Another upside down Albert King type of player ! I also like "You ain't the boss of me" which, is the song he was playing when I first heard him on Sirius.
This video was my introduction to Josh Smith a few years ago. I knew about Eric at that point but not Josh. I remember thinking to myself, "who does this cowboy think he is?". Lmao!! Just a few seconds into the tradeoff portion and... well you know what happened.
Josh Smith the accomplished technician, never hitting a wrong note, Gales the crazy wild force, hitting a few misses, but then also the one happening on pure genius regularly
Both of these gentlemen are very talented!!! What an amazing collaboration of talents to enjoy each other skills and get along well! This is the American way and America I want to live in!!!! Outstanding!!!
Josh is out of S. Florida. We started watching him when he was amazing at about 15 and playing lots of Stevie Ray and Jimi which is what everyone wanted. He had long wavy blonde hair and a Stevie Ray hat. When he graduated high school he leaned more toward the rock trio and started writing and touring.
Have you ever heard better slow blues? I wish they would record an album together! These two blues brothers are unique and just fantastic! Best jam I’ve heard. ❤️

Eric Gales knowledge of that fretboard and his CHORD work. . . in addition to his incredible soloing ability....is simply amazing!!. Not to take anything away from Josh Smith. Josh on the otherhand has incredible control and tone. Decent voice too. This was one of the best slow blues jam on YT..fer sure~!

Agree with all. I suspect some folks may object to what they think is his showboating. I just see it as the way he moves when pulling off all those amazing executions. It's just the way he grooves.
PaulinTaegu --Greg Koch is another superb player who jams with both of these two guys at the NAMM shows. And they have a hard time keeping up with him and his odd phrasing of notes.
Love the way gales whole head,body moves while he plays, that only happens to a man whose whole soul is leaking music out through his cells and they all moving as one.

Eric is the real f’in deal. Amazing sense of phrasing mixed with the upside approach makes him the most unique blues player out there today IMO.
