Excellent video. Wonderful to watch and listen to these demonstrations, just to see what I can absorb. Thank you for showing us your work. Also, 11,400+ views and 3 comments? Hmm. Weird.

Ben, I see some of these lathes the rope goes through the bed, as you do, and sometimes I see that they go behind. Any benefits to either approach? Neil
This is going in my to-do list, first I have to finish this really awesome project I found in Woody Hyezmar’s Woodworking Bible, as seen on his website. Thanks for the video, bookmarked!
@@vsmetc7305 thanks a lot but it was only a issue on this series of videos. All the others are fine. So make sure you check out the other videos on the channel cheers Ben
the reason for all the views and so few comments is the wind over shadows the video and most people cant watch it from beg to end. same reason im not finishing the vid wish i could nice set up though traditional strives to be this simple
To bad it was windy, but very informative and thanks for doing it ! Really enjoyed it and great job !
Awesome demo of very old school tech. I'd love to build and use a lathe like that. Thanks Ben.
Recently we've been doing more Pole Lathe and Green Wood projects! (+ a lot less wind noise...) Check them out here: bit.ly/2Emc0tD
Stumbled upon your video. Very cool! I've never seen one of these old lathes before, thasnks for sharing.
This is great stuff, nice to see what man and nature can do in perfect harmony, brilliant !

I would love to give that a try.Shame about the wind noise.

tape a sponge around the mic., will kill the sound of the wind
People complaining about free information. Priceless.
Very well explained , thanks!

IS it better to use fresh or dried wood for working pieces?
great video Ben!
Great video. I just had a small question, why don't you want it to spin faster? I'd imagine if it was spinning faster, then it would be easier to cut?
I like this better than a spring pole lathe... Less space...
hmm, some video editing programs come complete with a fix for that
awesome vid the wind is fucking killing me !
Glad you like the vid, sure the wind was a pain, that was before we had a decent camera and mics. We may do it again sometime. Thanks

Bloody Wind
Would love to watch this but can’t stand the wind noise.
Yes it was a shame about that it was filmed before we had a proper mic and camera set up.
Maybe we will re film at some point 👍
@@BenOrford good luck with your channel. I’ll be back when the sound improves

Wind.
Shame about the wind. It would have been nice to be able hear some of what he was saying...
Shame the effort of video production didn't match the effort of bowl production
What di he say????

A sock. An elastic band. Would have made this video audible. It's a write off I'm afraid. :(
I made it by myself. I used woodprix scripts for that.
too bad the sound sucks
Which is not a pole lathe.
WHAT?!
Great video horrible sound
