    Today when people talk about Sachin's greatness, they talk about his figures. But just as important is the fact that he was one of the most watchable batsmen. It was pure joy just to watch him play

    I still remember.. For us match used to start with Sachin coming to bat and finish with his innings over. India winning was just bonus. Whole talk in the class or among family and friend circle used to what and how Sachin did. Man... Watching him bat was pure joy.

    Brilliant piece, Jarrod. Came across this channel two days back and I'm binging. Quality stuff, keep it up!
    .
    Can't help but share my two cents on the topic.
    Jordan probably takes the cake when you talk about him dominating his sport with the titles (two threepeats for crying out loud!) and shaping his team to be more like him in their approach to excellence.
    Having said that, Chicago Bulls of the 90s were a much better team than India of the 90s. Even when Sachin went the extra mile, his team just didn't back him up. The Chennai test against Pakistan that you guys mentioned is one example. The WC96 SF is another. Sachin blitzed through the first fifteen overs but his dismissal prompted six more for 22 runs and we fell off.
    There are many other examples like these where Sachin did try, but the belief to win just wasn't there in the team.
    He also had tiffs with others when he was captain, he wanted everyone to strive to be at the level he was, but where it ended in Burrell and Carr taking it as motivation to be at Jordan's level, Sachin couldn't bully Kambli and Kanitkar to at least try and be like him.

    I'm always Sachin fan
    I watched and loved cricket bcoz of Sachin
    People have different opinions about Sachin but he is legend
    He played with breaking all barriers without good management , fitness staff, coaching , analyst, extreme pressure of stardom , people didn't know how to handle stardom
    Virat Kohli is not great captain it is management, analyst and others that are making him good
    Saurav,Dhoni, Ponting, Williamson are Great captains. Rohit Sharma have better captaincy skills than Virat

    Why there is not so much day night first class test matches all over the world ? And why it's difficult to see ball in day night test when it's quite easy to play in night T20 and ODI matches ?

      You need a light coloured ball, because dark coloured balls get lost in the shadow. But the problem is white balls only last 32 overs as you can't dye the ball, so it has to be painted. I will do a video on it, I was hoping to do it for this Test, but it's so quick, I probably won't get time.

    Tendulkar's average in ICC knockout games is 41. That is significantly more than that of Dhoni and Virat. So please, nobody should say that Sachin didn't bat when it mattered

    Interesting takes, I just found it funny your talk about fatigue in Cricket as been same as playing basketball in NBA.
    8 years of basketball is way more demanding physically than 8 years of cricket as a bastman.

    Sachin from a purely batting perspective, genius. I don’t think there was as complete a specimen as him, before or since to be honest. This I say specially between 1994 and 2002. My issue with Tendulkar however is, with amount of talent he had, I can’t help feel that he played within his capability, which was immense no doubt. There were glimpses of course, but mere mortals all have that surely. The Henry Olonga story should have happened over and over again. But it didn’t.That will to go beyond just doesn’t resonate when I think of Tendulkar. Kohli recognising Tendulkar’s lacking has doubled up where he failed. Where he carries the whole team to a win. Yes a WIN.And kohli did it over and over again. I also feel that Tendulkar never really stamped out corruption in his own team. To one who much is given much is expected. As unfair as it sounds , that’s what I feel when thinking of Sachin. There was inexplicably a dimension missing with Tendulkar. Jordan was cities ahead of Tendulkar and perhaps, perhaps both names don’t belong in the same sentence. I can picture Jordan looking at that very ipad looking back on Tendulkars career and going, “ this guy was the God of cricket?”.

    • @atharvak9476
      @atharvak9476 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Well some really controversial statements..but I am afraid to say they do make sense..But one should not forget he was kind of lone warrior between the period of 1994 to 2005..there was no batsmen of the calibre of Rohit Sharma or MS Dhoni to support him..That's when he made his bat talk and made tons of runs..He was the true run machine and that's when he earned this immense respect

    • @bobbythomas5357
      @bobbythomas5357 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@atharvak9476 Yes it is sad. Jordan was Tendulkar until 1993. After that Jordan was the GOAT, where he forged the team in his identity and willed them to greatness.That takes another dimension. I see Jordansim in Kohli on a consistent basis, that insatiable need to do the impossible. Yeah, not with Tendulkar. Jordan could have retired in 1993,and still be great, like Tendulkar. But what happened after that made Jordan the GOAT.

    • @solidcricket
      @solidcricket 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      first off comparing two different sport is wrong altogether. the very fact that Sachin represents a country whereas Jordan represents a club makes their situation different altogether. And considering the fact that u talked about Kohli being consistent is really great, but also he comes from a different generation ends the comparison right there. Even players like Sangakkara AB Devilliers and Currently Ross Taylor who belonged from the early to mid-2000s are enjoying/enjoyed the batting era of cricket.

    As an indian I don't think Sachin should be considered at such an elevated status. Considering Sachin started at 16 and retired around 40 years old..you will end up with the statistics. I think Dravid is a better indian candidate and ganguly for indian Captaincy. Additionally, during the old days, the indian selection was not merit based but political. Sachin was favored in lot of situation. Also his average was not as competitive as his peers.

    • @shubhamtoshniwal2221
      @shubhamtoshniwal2221 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Are you high? Sachin averaged more than any Indian player after playing more tests.

    • @harveyspecter4430
      @harveyspecter4430 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      "His Average was not as competitive as his peers"
      Where do you come up with this nonsense?
      Comparing to Dravid, he has an average of 53.78 in tests whilst Dravid has an average of 52.31
      In ODIs, Tendulkar's is 44.83 vs Dravid's 39.16.
      Tendulkar played 8 whole years more than Dravid as well, giving him as excuse to have underperformed but with his aforementioned stats, he hasn't!
      I support Sri Lanka and even I think Sachin is the greatest Batsman to ever live. Period.

    • @solidcricket

      If anything Sachin always faced the wrath of politics
      .
      People just love to say anything in the air as if playing international cricket for 23 years is some kind of joke
      .
      The fact that he stayed consistent for such a long time proves why he is one of the greatest of all time

      @@harveyspecter4430 Thanks for proving my point subtly. As you remarked Sachins average is slightly higher than his peers and I think we can all agree playing 200 test and 463 ODI will amount to such numbers for an athlete thats selected for the national team. Let's take the batting average of Kumar Sangakara and Ponting who have played less games and they sum up averages close to Sachin. How about Don Bradman? Why is his average 99? My point is Sachin is a great batsman but his numbers skew the actual performance. I think Virat Kohli is a good candidate with his current standing. India always had a problem with Hero Worship. You can see what it's done to the sports and country.

      Try and do 5% of what he has done for the poor and needy and then earn the right to talk crap. He never asked to be worshiped in any way, people chose to do so cuz he inspired the entire nation. Cricketers asking people to solve their nations issues without outside interference and without resorting to violence doesn't make them bad.
