Hi, just wanted to let you know that this video is still working great in 2020. Just installed my cruise mate that I received as a Christmas gift (with lots of hints by me) and it works awesome! Your video is well done, easy to follow and I installed it in a snap. (I do have one thing that may help others. If you have a newer bike with cables there is a little ring that holds the throttle cable chrome tube into the housing. This little ring is almost impossible to get off so I didn't use the alignment jig I got. I have been working on bikes for years so I just free handed the drill and tap with no issues) so just a heads up on that. Thanks for an awesome product that really works!!

Ok, I'm glad you did this tutorial, because I'm putting one of these on my '03 Indian Chief, but you lost me on the installation of the actual assembly. I've got my hole drilled and tapped, and ran the bushing up into it. My directions say something about a cable positioner (an H shaped thing which my bike doesn't have), and it seems like they sent me something wrong. The insert that goes into the larger bushing that you show seems to be a lot shorter than mine. I installed mine, and I've got about 1 1/2" hanging out of the bushing when tight. It looks like yours is about 1/2" long, along with a piece of honeycombed metal, along with another spring that I assume goes into the lever assembly. The directions they send are so minimal they're almost useless, not to mention badly taken photos. Guess I'll have to make that call to Cruise Mate and let them tell me what they did wrong. Thanks for the video, though. It helped right up to the point of not showing details of what the heck you're sticking in the cover (the actual parts sent).
Great example of someone creating something that HD should have had on there in the first place. That wheel is total joke, especially with gloves. Now I understand the $39 price. Think I'll have to get 1 or 2
I love this concept and I'll be doing this one on my night train. Although I can do this install with no issues whatsoever, but then again I make my living turning wrenches. I cannot see a novice doing this install themselves. Your going to have to have at least have a little knowledge about disassembling and reassembling these switch housings and properly adjusting your throttle cables.
Todd, Thank you for your comments. We've actually had testimonials from people that have never taken a control apart or even drilled and tapped a hole before and they all commented that with the included instructions and available videos they've had no problems.
I was thinking of getting a cruise mate but after seeing the install I think I'll pass. I don't have the mechanical experience and don't want to mess up my bike. Great video though.
OMG what an overly complicated device. The stock thumb wheel works just a well if you take the time to adjust it properly. Also have to say the design of the drill guide probably took most of the R&D time and seems like a major overkill. If you removed the bottom switch house from the bike, which only take removing two small screws that hold the switch in place, to could easily drill and tap the new hole on the bench.

I left voicemails on your phone. Having problem with install. Bushing provided in jig kit to small to allow provided drill bit to be inserted.
Did the kit come with the drill Jake? Where did you get the drill Jake
couldnt work out from the vid whether you re-use the friction boot in the housing reassembly?
I'm a few years late to provide you an answer on this but if anyone else wants to know, no the friction shoe is not reused.

I think Id like to see it using a left-hand thread then, in a real emergency, you could shut it off real fast by pushing the lever forward.
