When I was a kid I remember inviting friends to my house and forcing them to watch this dvd lol (Edit: to this day, the bass change at 10:19 remains a mystery)
This was my exact experience brother. So many of my musician friends watched this with me in awe. Never once, did we get tired of it. Timeless musicianship
I agree... you want to form a band, start recruiting... and end up with these 2 guys! But now the only problem is... you! They joined your band, but they don't need you to move on... ☺
@@doxskew2221 It isn't at all though, there is so much variation and call and response between two actual musicians, so pretty much nothing like D&B which is all on rails and pre recorded. I'm not mocking drum and bass, it's just not really *live* music tbh.
No offence but all you guys sound so elitist , music is music; ownerless & simply channeled from higher plains. The only way to achieve this transcendence is to irradicate any heirarchical boundaries your closed human mind may create my friend ❤
This was percussion ensemble for two. That was fun. I was surprised to find out how heavy Steve’s sticks are. To play that way I would think you would need to use maple
One of the very best 12 minutes of video on TH-cam
When the rhythm section’s so F’ing good they don’t need anyone else.
Steve playing drum and base with Victor is almost better than world peace.
I've seen both of these fellas throughout the years doing impossible shit nobody else can do. I have mad respect for them.

The bass change had to be a splice from another performance right?
I often go to a pub owned by my band mates, and I force then to watch this too. Hahahaha
I think it’s safe to say that Steve Smith was the best musician in Journey!
Yes, but Neil is a great guitarist
You know what I can see in victor eye : Inspiring the player he is assisting.
This duet doesn't get old. I'm learning something new every time I come across this again. Funk chops like crazy,
What a masterpiece of
GROOVE.
Phenomenal performance.
Absolutely brilliant.
Yes the mystery bass change.....
I only noticed this after reading the comment
Holy Mother of Music Gods,, thank you !
Best 11mins 43secs of my life
Absolute brilliance.
Steve Smith is a rudimental genius
It's as if it's just one instrument! Amazing.
What a Jam.
8:42 my god. That is insane.
The ultimate"Rhythm Section" for your band!

☺
Fantastic musician skills
love it!!
Its as if the instruments were having a conversation
I dreamed for the third Vital Tech Tones (my fist fusion band) album, but it is still just a dream.
This is what I expect when someone says let's listen some drum & bass but I'm always disappointed to find out it's just fast electronic music.
If you speed it up its basically drum n bass
Check out Jojo Mayer, if you haven't. He used to do some killer Drum N Bass work. The only DNB I've evet enjoyed, honestly.

Men who were born in the 90s, I know this isn't the first time you've been here haha
Soy muy afortunado por haber encontrado estos ritmos!
Victor is playing another bass towards the end of the jam. How did he switch basses so fast?
It had to be spliced in.
That just looked like fun
Anyone else noticed Victor just magically switched basses lol
God damn!
🤯

Downshift
8:56 drums basic but delicious. Thanks
10:19 мастер удивляет до сих пор)))))))))) за 1 секунду поменять бас-гитару это высший пилотаж
❤
Man I just want to hear this with some muffling in mr Smith’s kick.
T try
His 18” kick drum would sound like a box with anymore muffling really
How dare you ;P
I have to agree.
No no no ! Let that sucker sing
That snare hand
Super fast bass change
Sick…
❤💪
How did switch basses so fast
At what point did the bass change near the end of the show?
Why speed up the video?? I can’t believe i didn’t see any comments about that.
NOT sped up of course....
