- #Derawar_fort is a marvel of 9th century located in #Cholistan desert of Pakistan near Ahmad Pur Sharkia in Yazman Tehsil of Bahawalpur. The fort was built by a Hindu ruler of the state of #Rajhistan during 9th century, Later it was conquered by Nawab of Bahawalpur state, Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan during 17th century and was re-built with baked bricks. It has remained under the ownership of Nawab family for the last more than 200 years. At 40 km distance from Dera Nawab, Ahmad Pur Sharkia, this fort is still in its original shape after 13 centuries.
This fort is a cultural and national heritage of Indo-Pak region but unfortunately its condition is now worse and at the verge of collapse. Although repair work at different points inside and out is in progress under supervision and management of archaeology department however pace is too slow. A huge infrastructure inside the fort is near to collapse.
Tourists visit this fort in a large count but there is nothing in place to help generate revenue from tourists, no entry tickets etc. If redeveloped and maintained, the fort can be a good source of revenue generation and this revenue can be spent on the local population of Cholistan. Even tourists can be facilitated with a night stay if accommodation rooms in "Shahi Mahallaat" are repaired and maintained. Your views/comments needed below for this appeal to get heard.
Events can be arranged to create attraction like one event i know is the Cholistan jeep rally that is held every year and rally participants stay inside the fort. I don't know if they do camping or what because fort structure is not worth staying.
Best months to visit are from November to March to avoid scorching heat of Cholistan during summer.

Govt of Pakistan archaeology department is looking after this fort and repairing as well. Pace is little slow.

Once again thank you for bringing this video, what a pity to see such a beautiful fort is on it is way to destruction but don't worry it will stand for another century. Both in India and Pakistan we dont value the effort as our politicians are very much interested in over filling their pockets, but not just satisfied in filling alone.

Your opinion is of great value but this requires hell of time, patience and encouragement and internal motivation to gather such volunteers. This heritage can be converted to an excellent tourist spot with plenty of other opportunities that attract tourists and travelers.

Eerily but stunning beautiful place which would take millions to restore but goodness it would be worth it. Must be some millionaire in Pakistan or India who could undertake this ? It would be tragic to let it fall into ruin completely and eventually disappear. Wouldnt fancy staying there though , must be very haunted!!

ہمارے بزگوں نے یہ قلعہ بنایا سری کرشنا ہمارے پہلے بزگ تھے جن نے مخدوم شاہ جہانیاں کے ہاتھ پر اسلام قبول کیا تھا راجپوت بھٹی قبلے نے بنایا تھا ہم بھی راجپوت بھٹی ہے لودھراں رھیم یار خان ملتان جھنگ ڈی جی خان بہاواپور یہ بھٹی اسی خاندان سے ہے

میں نے بھی ویزٹ کیا ہے یہ بلکل ختم ہو چکا ہے دیکھ بھال کرنے والے تو لگتا ہے سالوں سے ادھر کا راستہ ہی بھول گئے باقی یہ قلعہ 6000 سال پہلے راجہ ججا کے بھانجے نے دریائے ہاکڑہ کے کنارے تعمیر کیا تھا ہڑپہ اور موہنجودرو سے جو تجارتی قافلے ایران جاتے تھے اسی قلعے کی فسیروں کے سائے کے نیچے آرام کرتے تھے پختہ اینٹوں سے قلعہ کی تعمیر نو اور مسجد کی تعمیر عباسیوں نے کروایا مگر افسوس ہمارا اربوں کا قومی ورثہ تباہ ہو رہا ہے۔
