Hi mate i think the rear mudguard ties in really well, and fits the stance of the bike. After all the wiring you changed and modded on the SR your a wizard with the wiring and relocation. Ride safe mate. Look forward to more America mods
Mark Ullyett ha ha yeah i didn't plan on so much wiring but hey!!! in fact my new also job has me doing loads of soldering and wiring too!! cheers buddy!
Love the new rear fender JC! That really flows with the lines of Jen's bike. It would be cool if was painted gloss black with a similar white scalopy stripe that the petrol tank has. Could you crank up the pre-load on the shock if you needed more room. I can't image it would compress that much since the shock is so short. Eventually it will bottom out inside the shock. Great stuff buddy! Cheers! Mike
Michael Rench thanks mike!!- yeah preload is cranked and fingers are crossed so hopefully we'll be ok...yeah a continuation of the tank paint would be nice...perhaps in the future- two reasons for the quick paint job...jen wants to be riding yesterday...ha ha...and i'll just check clearances before committing to a fancy paint job!!! sods law i'd spray it up nice and then need to hack at it again!!!
"Oh say can you see, by the old, tan, stained tights…" :D Great to see the ol' girl getting out into the fresh air again (the America not Jen!) and loving the new rear (the America not Jen!). Can't wait to here her roaring up to the next meet (the America not… um… nope, I'll leave it at that!).
Did you have to change the sidestand?? I've just put smaller shocks on my America but the side stand is to long the bike is in the vertical position with it out???
Those shocks really suit the bike, nice and beefy. Reminds me a bit of the VMax style ones. Good price too. Mudguard is a good fit from the side view, and does not look too wide from the rear. :)
+Daddy Cool hey mate! - those particular bars are custom chrome bars that i had powdercoated- off the shelf at my local bike shop so no exact details on them...however dimensions wise they are the same as biltwell tracker bars- and they come in black!
Triumph Rascal thanks buddy!! yep back in the rat race!! my days as a shed lizard are over...for now!!. yeah hopefully a bit of triumph fun in the next few videos!
Glad you threw one up fella, is always good to see what the cactus is up to. Did you chop the back or was it designed the be taken off and on? Profile looks good with the new guard, if jen thinks it two wide, could always shorten it so visually you comparing it to the frame and not the size of the back wheel..
GTs Garage hey buddy- the rear is unchopped- once you remove the mudguard support braces that's all that's left! jen is liking the look so we are a go!!!
theres somthing bout that rear guard im not all in on , its like the shape dosent really fit or somthing ! dosent follow the round contour of the wheel or fall in place or... nah ,youll figure it out.
transdetendal i know what you mean mate- i'd still love a more 'mirror' hugging of the tyre but i reckon i'd only get that with a hard tail!! it looks pretty good in the flesh...perhaps a tiny bit wide....but nothing a fatter tyre wouldn't sort!!
That mudguard looked Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge on the floor, wide enough even for Tattooed Bill's rear tyre, but on the bike, it fits in quite well, you could always take a section out the centre if you still think its too wide, and re fibreglass it back together, and don't you dare leave it that long before firing one up there again, fancy making Jen wait a week ;)
yankee doodle i was a bit worried seeing it in the flesh!!! it is massive!!! but actually in situ it's ok...i'm still a little concerned about clearance though!!!- the acid test will be on those first speed bumps at the bottom of our road!!!
I also gotta say, for someone who's, quote: "shit at wiring" you do a dam fine job of it bro. I work in electronics and you take more care that most shops would.
I have progressive springs in my fork thats the brand and how they are wound ,only cost $120.00 aussie dollars might be a good upgrade for the fork and maybe balance the suspension up . Pommie money they would have to be fairly cheap for you guys
Andrew Earl hey buddy- yeah that would be ideal for the next round of mods!! i actually want to change out the front springs in both the triumphs! rock n roll fella!
Trust Jen to get a bit of innuendo in at the end! Wish I could do electrics like you Johnny,I always start with good intentions and end up with a bees nest of masking tape and loose connections.Electricity and me don't get on :( The lines look good and she will end up with a dry back if it rains, kerching....result!
ninjanelly350 ah thanks buddy!!- i'm glad i give the impression of knowing what i'm doing!! ha ha ha!! although getting lots of soldering, crimping and electrickery practise in with me new job- so i might learn a few things!!
That new fender looks fantastic. I don't find it too fat at all. We really enjoyed Mrs Cactus smile test sitting the bike! Have fun riding it. th-cam.com/video/0O1oY8LGPvA/w-d-xo.html Oh, I thought I saw one of your projects at a local bike show!!!!
looking sweet comrade Cactus,...4 sodding months worth to catch up on though,at least I know its gonna be quality viewing!!personally......I would have lifted that rear guard a smidge,ya know cut a little off to show a tad mo'ass!!......but then ya might have in following episodes??!!...I shall find out lol....ride safe bro...Bizz
+Bizz ha ha- i know what ya mean fella! trying to find the time to catch up- funnily enough we were talking about changing the rear guard shape a touch!
Man, that bike looks great!! I love the mudguard. I've got a new seat for my SR, and it looks really cool! Classic SR look, but like I said I'm trying to keep her stock. I got some Mothers polish and am gonna go see if I can shine the engine up. I need to get new turn signals, but i'm worried that they may not pass an inspection if their not DOT? I dunno.. Have any recommendations? I'm selling this here, www.ebay.com/itm/131497350484?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 and maybe I can make some cash off it. Well Man, hope you're having good riding weather! You need to come over with your SR! haha!!
AmericanMan2001 good luck with it mate!- plenty of elbow grease on the engine!!- not too sure on your rules and regs for passing inspection- we have m.o.t.s- but there's a huge amount of choice out there!- perhaps go for dot approved on the safe side??

Mark Ullyett ha ha yeah i didn't plan on so much wiring but hey!!! in fact my new also job has me doing loads of soldering and wiring too!! cheers buddy!
Looks bloody great and the new lower shocks coupled with the new rear mudguard give the bike a much meaner look. Love it.
pgod1960 thanks peter!! yeah finally it's got the stance i wanted to give it before!! now just gotta wait for the contraband sidemounts.....;-)
Love the new rear fender JC!

Love that America. It's old school like me lol.thanks for the video.
thanks buddy!! it's changed a few times since this vid! thank you for watching!
"Oh say can you see, by the old, tan, stained tights…" :D

Copperfish ha ha ha!!! love it!! cheers buddy!!! hope to see ya soon!
Did you have to change the sidestand?? I've just put smaller shocks on my America but the side stand is to long the bike is in the vertical position with it out???
No- kept it the same- even when i lowered the front. It sat up a little more but never toppled over!!!
We have had Pennyfarkles and now JennyFarkles. Nice one mate, do love that bike :)
Is it possible to put a seat like the one that triumph bobber has got?
Anything is possible! But it depends on how easy you want it to be! Not a straight bolt on...
Those shocks really suit the bike, nice and beefy. Reminds me a bit of the VMax style ones. Good price too.
Mudguard is a good fit from the side view, and does not look too wide from the rear. :)
Paul Ford thanks paul!!!- i'm really liking the stance- i'm just crossing my fingers we are ok with any clearance issues!!!
IMO, trim the rear light pedistal so the top of the pedistal is level to the ground. To me it looks odd pointing upward from the fender.
Wow! That's a blast from the past! Very very different bike now!
Any chance of a link for those bars JC ? Cheers .
+Daddy Cool hey mate! - those particular bars are custom chrome bars that i had powdercoated- off the shelf at my local bike shop so no exact details on them...however dimensions wise they are the same as biltwell tracker bars- and they come in black!
Love that rear guard... Looks beef...
You are smart ass with those wires !!!!
Greg Gregorski ha ha thank you kind sir!
Greg Gregorski ha ha thank you kind sir!
Is there room in the swinging arm for a wider tyre, might tie the back end in a bit more?
tattooedbill1 i reckon so mate- wider at least- def not taller!!! ha ha- although jen is preoccupied with a fatter front tyre at the moment!! ha ha!!
Looks good to me matey...didn't realise you were working now...looking forward to seeing the next video, hope to see you soon.
Triumph Rascal thanks buddy!! yep back in the rat race!! my days as a shed lizard are over...for now!!. yeah hopefully a bit of triumph fun in the next few videos!
I like it, looks great. I can understand Jen wanting it ready. :)
***** i think she's gonna get violent if it's not ready at the weekend!!!

BooCooDaBreeze thanks mate!!! jen is happy she's been riding non stop since it's all done!!!
Nice one Ian, love the slammed arse end on it bro, very nice, at least Jen seems eager to get out on it, RSM8.
Skeggy Cruiser cheers buddy, yep she's chomping at the bit to get on the road!!!

Robert Robb thanks Robert!- jens got the whip a' crackin'.....she wants to be riding!!
