Totally loved the show. My brother and I would hurry our parents out of the mall on Friday nights so we could be home in time.
"We have to hurry to get home for Dukes of Hazzard."
"I guess we won't have time to stop at Toys R Us then on the way home..."
"Aaaaaaaaagh" (the first world problems of a child of the 70s and 80s).
We had the 3¾" figures of Bo, Luke, and Daisy, with their vehicles. I never realized Daisy was a 5 POA, but I played with Adventure People, Star Wars, and GI Joe. Probably just dismissed it. Thanks for a great video!!!!

I had the General Lee car as a kid in 1981. It was plastic and pretty cheap looking. I remember the top would flip up.

This right here is why I love you, Junkman. I've never watched more than four minutes of the Dukes of Hazzard, and I couldn't give a shit less about them. But I'm always interested in television history and toy history, so this video interested me. The fact that you could make a video about the Dukes of Hazzard that was able to hold my interest until the end is pretty impressive. Nice work!

I loved this show when I was a little kid.
I got off just on the intro itself.
When I was 7 or 8 I went to a Tom Wopat concert in town.
Concerts that always took place right next to the courthouse. :)
Three or four years earlier we saw Little Texas there. :) hahah!
My sister still has a picture of one of the bandmates pinching his nose. :)
Out in the middle of the street sat the General Lee itself. I still have that picture of me standing next to the General Lee holding a PEPSI. :)
It was just me and my mom.
For some reason, out of the blue she asked if I wanted to go see Tom Wopat.
It was one of those weird occurrences where my mom had a normal idea. :)
    Thanks for the video :)

I have a greater appreciation for this show now then when I was a kid. I watch John Schneider's videos here & he tends to be a voice of reason. Out of curiosity, have you ever talked with any of the celebrities you mention in your videos? You do some top quality work & are much appreciated.

I don’t know who made them, but there were cheap plastic versions of the General Lee, that had stickers for all the decorations. No chromed parts and only the axels were metal. They were in scale with the 3 inch figures but it was hard to get them in the car because everything was just a solid piece except for the bottom which was black plastic. They may have been knock offs, but I never saw a box for one. I had two but absolutely destroyed them both because they had to jump things all the time & the landings took a heavy toll on the cheap plastic. I’ve never seen one in a video about the toys ever.

I loved the show as a kid and had the 3 3/4 in Beu and Luke figures and the General Lee which were handed down to me from a family friend who's son didn't play with toys anymore. At the time they played re runs of the Dukes of Hazzard and then the original Batman tv series. Since I didn't have any Batman toys I'd make paper costumes and put them on the Duke boy's!🤣 I'd even make a Batman symbol and tape it to the top of the General Lee!🤣( I used them as the Dukes also😉)

What never made sense when the Duke boys were replaced is why weren't they racing the General Lee? It was supposed to be the fastest car around. They would have had to explain why Coy and Vance made a General Lee 2, because you couldn't have the show without the car.

I had the action figures, Bo, Luke, Daisy, Boss Hogg, and Roscoe. As far as the show goes, As a Pro-Rasslin fan I always thought Coy and Vance should have become "Bad Guy Villains" once Bo and Luke returned. That would have been AWESOME to me! THUMBS UP Junkman for this vid. Good stuff as I never seen the Uncle Jesse or Cooter figure when I was a kid til now.

Junkman, I had the entire set of everything you showed. Oddly enough I never opened the cars or the dolls, just the figures. I would say that the Dukes got me started into collecting. The loose male figures later became, thanks to the Phantom Menace replacement gear sets as they lost their own gear and hats

The MPC Models General Lee Charger kit is the best selling model car kit of all time. Many NASCAR Kit builders where not happy that MPC ruined the Charger Stock Car kit to make a dumb kids show model. But MPC didn't mind the revenue. To this day, you can still go buy a General Lee kit at most Hobby Shops.

Those toys felt sooooo cheap..... broken thumbs everywhere. I remember one store was blowing out loose bo and luke figures around 87 for $0.99 which didn't even seem like a deal. I actually have the cartoon series on dvd. The dvd case and individual dvds show artwork portraying Bo n Luke but the first season and most of the second are animated with the other cousins in each episode. Only the last five or so episodes in season two have Bo n Luke orn them. I haven't watched the series completely but I do not believe there is an explanation for the name and character changes in the middle of the second season. Do not judge me for having that cartoon on DVD.

I loved the show when it first aired. I checked out when Coy and Vance came along and never watched regular again. I can still sit and watch an episode from seasons 1through 4 but anything after is hard to watch. Even when Bo and Luke came back. It just wasn't the same anymore. I did have a General Lee and a Hazard police car. They were made by ERTL. I wish Hot Wheels or Match Box had gotten the license. ETRL cars were never as good as Hot Wheels or Match Box.

    @TheJohno95 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah, I used to watch the show pretty religiously....Until Cory and Vance showed up. I watched the first episode, but that was pretty much enough for me. I didn't care for the Mean Green Machine. I watched it a couple of times after Bo and Luke came back, but I was pretty much over it by then. I suspect the network would have let it go due the "Seven Season Syndication" curse, at which point there are enough episodes of a show to run a full year of syndication and at which point it is cheaper just to let it go and ride on the residuals. But, if Cory and Vance hadn't happened, it might have gotten past that spot. Honestly, I slowed down watching it when Enos left. When you have a good formula, it's best not to mess with it. And the Enos show was just....A mess. It was like a regular buddy cop show with a serious approach. It just didn't feel right having Enos play some downhome goofball whereas everyone else was playing it straight. Some shows, like Due South, could make that work. But, it's tricky.
I guess the funniest thing was this gave people outside of Georgia their first look at the way things pretty much were down here. Back in those days, if you could outrun the cops, you pretty much got away. Before cameras in the patrol cars. Moonshiners, crooked commissioners, cops on the take....Who am I kidding!? It hasn't changed all that much to this day. I'll leave it at that.
