NASA March Madness - Spec Miata Sunday Lightning race

Well, my first racing weekend definitely didn't go as smoothly as I anticipated. Friday I crashed the car into the tire wall during the dust-off race aquaplaning as it started to rain more on slick tires. Thankfully only cosmetic damage, although very extensive. Thankfully I was granted the competition license despite of the accident and was able to race the rest of the weekend.
But I wasn't done with my bad luck for the weekend. First race Sunday somehow I managed to not close the hood properly while prepping the car of the race and it popped out on the first lap while doing 110mph on the back straight. Thankfully the safety mechanism catch it and it didn't slam back into the windshield, but had to come back into the pit and went to the back of the pack. I was able to recover 4 positions at least.
This video is from the last race of the weekend. At this point I was taking it easy, I was tired from everything that transpired during the weekend and I just wanted to bring the car back home. Unfortunately, the transmission decided to give up as I was crossing the finish line to start the last lap of the weekend and got stuck in 4th.
A weekend to forget, but it's time to get my head down, fix the car and come back stronger for Hyperfest. We are just getting started.
