Excellent Chris. I smoked Nightcap once. It knocked me on my 🫏. 😂😂😂 As a kid in the late 1950’s early 1960’s, we used to ride our bikes all over town. To dangerous to do that today in the city I grew up in. Good to see you.
@ at 12 and 14 year olds, my older brother and I rode the bus downtown to go to the movies. As Archie and Edith sang, “those were the days”. Cheers mate 🍻
I was going to smoke something else before bed tonight, but you inspired me to pull out my Nightcap and make that my night cap for tonight. I'll be an American taking a stroll through England tonight :) Great video!
Fantastic read, enjoyed this video and your passionate tone about your country and this blend. It’s been years since I’ve had Night Cap, last time I had it, it was made by Dunhill and I probably didn’t appreciate it as much as I would now. Although I am from Canada, we certainly have some similarities growing up. Just an awesome video. Regards Mark
@backcountrypipe Hey Mark! I'm really glad you enjoyed it and could relate to aspects of this video. Give it another go and see what you think, it goes well with cold weather and a nice bourbon 🤤🥃 Thank you for the kind words. God bless mate 🙏
Thank you for the reading. I am not from England but I have always been a great lover of English History. Half of my ancestry came from England. And I am a great lover of English blend tobaccos. Maybe it's just in my blood. I have visited England 4 times in my life. I will leave you with one of my favorite poems of England: The Soldier By Rupert Brooke If I should die, think only this of me: That there’s some corner of a foreign field That is for ever England. There shall be In that rich earth a richer dust concealed; A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware, Gave, once, her flowers to love, her ways to roam; A body of England’s, breathing English air, Washed by the rivers, blest by suns of home. And think, this heart, all evil shed away, A pulse in the eternal mind, no less Gives somewhere back the thoughts by England given; Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day; And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness, In hearts at peace, under an English heaven.
As a proud Englishmam who would have gotten on famously with Enoch Powell and everything he stood for I think I need to give nightcap a try, I can see the passion it evokes in your eyes, and we need to cling on to our heritage more than ever right now. I completely agree with your analogy of a smell transporting you back to a given point in time, it’s that very notion that has led me to picking up a pipe, good call sir 🙏
@chroniclesofahalfwit Be warned! It is very strong and needs to be smoked slowly. It can really slap you with the nicotine if you're not careful. (Don't let the tin note put you off either. All English blends small like bonfire) I'm glad you enjoyed the video, Steve, and wholeheartedly agree that we need to hold onto what is left of our heritage before it's pulled out from underneath us by those who impose. God bless and stay smokey my friend!
@ while I’ve never even been to England, it is in part my ancestral homeland and I do feel I kinship with most Englishmen. We don’t watch much television in our home but when we do seem to settle on some Anglophile BBC program having to do with gardening or All Creatures Great and Small, as my wife is a veterinarian. I’ve got to say it’s painful to watch what’s happening to Great Britain as a result of tremendous cultural injection. The way you describe Nightcap as an homagé to the country you grew up in is beautiful. I sincerely hope all of the woke nonsense comes to an end. Until it does I will try to conjure the essence of what you so fondly remember when I enjoy a bowl of nightcap.
@shaunhull9235 I love All Creatures Great and Small! It's one of the few programmes where the newer version is better than the original. They kept the aesthetic really well. The average Englishman is completely fed up and down right furious. There are rape gangs and murders every day and if we speak out against it, they label us far right. Some people have even been put in prison over Facebook posts, and because there wasn't enough room, they let rapists and pedophiles out early to make room! It's an utter shambles and will unfortunately only get worse under Starmer. We need another Iron Lady or a Trump. I hope nightcap brings you as much comfort as it does to me, my friend. God bless.
Excellent presentation! Insightful and engaging! Thank you, fine sir.
Happy smokes to you!👍😀💨💨💨

Yeah, you gotta be careful with it 😂 it tends to slap less hard after a few whiskeys 🥃😉 those were the days, ey mate?

The Soldier

If I should die, think only this of me:
That there’s some corner of a foreign field

A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware,
Gave, once, her flowers to love, her ways to roam;

Gives somewhere back the thoughts by England given;
Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day;
And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness,
In hearts at peace, under an English heaven.
