What's the plan after beans? Notill a small grain? Curious how the yield would be after the notill rye/beans. My organic wheat is always low yielding after soybean conventional till / row cultivation , not to mention later planting than conventional crop so wheat ends up getting planted late too.
Curious to know what you have learned since posting. Did you try no till wheat? I’m new to this. I’m two terms into college, planning on sustainable farming upon graduation in a couple years.
Rolls cover crops down and plants right into it. He used to give ~40/50lbs of N at begining, but has since gone 100%??? Organic I believe. So, he puts corn in rotation after Alfalfa. Search for his 1.5 hour speil where he discusses these OH so important details. Along with ROI...
@@w8stral the process he uses is to plant into standing covers, then roll after the cash crop is emerged, the immaturity stage of the cash crop, vs the maturity of the cover crop results in the cover crop staying down and being mulch, but the young new cash crop isn’t affected.
If it is rented ground , he is spending hundreds per acre. Weed zappers will not always kill broadleaf. I have a friend who tried that for a few years and finally gave it up and is now selling his zapper. He obviously has the money to spend. Also rolling with crimper does not always work . No one in my area has had success with this method. At this point it is all theory.
You guys and girls are really changing the world. I have the utmost respect for you.
Cool. Glad you are creating a workable system that can be duplicated by others.
Excellent work...thank you..
Could anyone point me in the directions for applying these principles on an almond orchard?

Show me fields with potatoes and corn how you manage them whole year
Sounds like your spending a lot of money on cover crops
