That's about right for the evaluation in my opinion. I've bought, collected and sold antique clocks for most of my life. I recently bought a beautiful late 18 th century English tall case clock in running order for less than $600.00 US. The receipt was in the clock we're a previous owner paid $7,500.00 US. It's a great time to buy antique clocks!!!
£600 in 1985 is equivalent in purchasing power to about £2250 today!!... £6 back in 1985 sounds far more believable to me buying as he did from a local antique shop in swaffham...which funnily enough was reputed to be a one-time favourite of that...much- aired on this site... old sea dog admiral lord nelson.

Pretty little clock. Price in the 80s: not cheap. Now: clocks have gone off the boil here at least. I figured the 200 guess was correct.
