    Not supposed to use teflon tape on these threads. It defeats the properties of the zinc and the “metal to metal” effect the zinc should have.

    You can measure the pipe potential wrto AG/agcl ref electrode to ascertain the protection cathodically.

      It depends on engine. but commonly before and after intercooler seawater pipes and any sea water heat exchanger you can see.

      @@bonsai7438 I have been told you can use pipe tape on the top half of the threads. BUT the important part is the metal to metal contact so the zinc can do its job. I am not a professional marine mechanic so any advice I offer is juts my opinion!!

      Yes in this point you are right it should have metal to metal contact, but teflon tape is not completely prevent the contact between plug and pipe when you tight the plug teflon tape will tear by bolt threads . Anyway if plug is tight properly much better without teflon tape.
      Also we have to make sure there is no sea water leaks because some places that install zinc anode is not viable.. thanks for comments
