This should be retitled, as it's definitely not the 1960's. The newest cars on the roadways here are 1972 model year. The clay and first edition (in creation) cars are 1973 models. The time of the filming must be 1972.
Back when cars were mostly ordered and purchased, You got a LOT more variety. Today most people lease whatever is in stock. This leads to "mass market" (read that as BORING) sameness in paint, trim and interiors.
Um. I think I saw this when I was in elementary school in the 70s. We had Movie Day on Friday's. They showed these promotional films a good bit. Always loved these types of educational films.
It's actually a Late 1972 Video if you date all the cars and look at all the clay Models. It is NOT a 1960's Video. There are a bunch of 1972 Mach 1 Mustangs on one of the factory lots.. Some of the Clay Models at the Design Studio were 1974 Mustang II's in Clay Molds. This makes sense since Ford was usually two years ahead at the Ford Design Studio. It IS a Late 1972 dated Film. :o) Tony K. MCA#70001.
My father worked and retired from the Ford plant in St paul minnesota started mid 1960s. Told me his finger got attached to a seat frame by means of a metal ring to hold the fabric to the seat frame ...said he had to walk with the seat until someone cut the ring ...I work at ford today... be a massive safety investigation in that issue...
This video is hilarious given Ford would go on to market unsafe-at-any-speed vehicles like the Pinto, Bronco II, first-gen Explorer, Crown Victoria. . .
They produced rust buckets. I’m driving a 15 year old Honda that still runs and looks fine. These cars from the video would have lasted less than five years
I had a 63 Galaxie back in the day oh what a car I busted 6 gals out in the back seat and then one night I got really really hammer up and hit run 3 park cars and oh I got away..
Did you see all those idiot lights on the dashboard of that Ford LTD? After 10 miles or so, more than half of the light bulbs that illuminate those idiot lights will burn out. So when an engine or electric problem comes up, the idiot lights won't light up and warn you that you've got real serious problems with your car.
Did anybody tell these car builders to make a car that doesn't stop running on a nice and sunny day? Did anyone tell these auto engineers to build a car that doesn't have multiple recalls on them before and right after you buy them? Doesn't the auto company engineers ask if customers want vehicles that don't start rusting as it goes down the assembly line? Car companies make their vehicles cheaper and cheaper but charge multiple thousands of dollars for crap on 4 wheels 🛞. A car is born and dies in your driveway or on the street in front of your house.
My dad started here in 72. Im proud of him retiring finally in 2008
Hello from Russia, i learning on automechanic. In college.
A great tribute to the American industrial era.
It was a great time idiots let it go
Ford is still in business

Back when they actually built cars that people wanted instead of the garbage they offer today
Ford crown vic
Ford taurus
"So broad it will be possible to stand beside the final assembly line 8 hours a day for a year, and never see two exactly alike" Say that today.

@@jamesslick4790 yep. Nothing but shittyass black and grey cordura interiors, absolutely boring af
you are smart are you not so smart wow what kind of car did you make?
I saw this film back in 1981 in high school aouto shop

I like some old fords and all the rest, older car's!!!!!!!!!!!
Pretty amazing... see that guy spraying enamel without a respirator? Jeez.
like a lady, the correct shape is paramount to sales..we are visual customer primarily. If it looks good, it must be good is the phycology.
This has to be early 70s, no 60s. I see my old 72 LTD/Galaxie and airbag testing.
Your right Tom' i was looking to see my '65 T bird(i just bought) but i guess not.
They tested everything but michigan salt the biggest threat hahahaha 13:26

Yes because we have too many lawyers
you are full of crap i would say
So he hog ringed his finger to the seat! Pneumatic hog ring guns will get ya!
I'm thinking 1972 based upon the Mustangs in the lot near the end of the film.
2 thumbs up
13:43, today's kids would think this was a drift dream machine!
yes to this period of america
I love these old car films have you got any ford Capri or vw Beetle films just thought I'd ask 🙂👍🏻
actually it's fomoco of the early 70s
Those engineers were told to engineer the shit to fall apart in 3 yrs back then !
My 74' LTD is still rippin' it up well in the 21st century!
Look at the shit that Toyota made in those days ( all rusted away)
5:51 Airbag!
Safety. And then came the Ford Pinto !
MrSebfrench76. The Pinto was Lee Iacocca's idea.
CIRCA 1973, Maybe 1974. No Way 1960's.
Michael H. 1972.
I agree with Rothe: 1972 based on the door handles, dashboards and tail lights in the Galaxies and LTDs.
Definitely 1972. Job 1 was a 1973 LTD
you are rigth, there are 1972 and 1973 Galaxie, I have restoring already my ´72 4 door
Ford spelled backward is driver returned on foot !
Those are 72 Torinos this is not the sixties. Besides people in the sixties needed a 428 cobra jet not a cage with an airbag.
Was very surprised to see a couple of black people in this film. The 60s still wasn't exactly equal.
In 1978 Ford recalled more cars than it sold. Heckuva job!
Ford is the only manufacturer that didn't take Obama bailout money.
Richard K , and GM and Chrysler just rolled crap out without caring about making them right!!
Richard K this is over a decade before that era

Bauxite sunk the Edmond Fitzgerald, right?
the shutters were not close in the storm
looks like it was made in the early 1970s, no 5 mph bumbers on the cars
2:56 creepy scifi hororr
22;08 3 ford police vehicles in that shot.
They produced rust buckets. I’m driving a 15 year old Honda that still runs and looks fine. These cars from the video would have lasted less than five years
22:00 No breathing masks in that paintroom----those poor people probably have cancer now
