If you cut the bread and meat separately before putting spreads on it, scrap meat and cheese can be saved for omelettes and bread can be frozen and when you have enough: french toast casserole. That'll help limit waste for cut-out sandwiches
Thank you for this. My boys are still young but packing a "healthy" lunch has been literally one of the most stressful parts of being a mom for me. These actually ARE easy and they look good enough for me to eat, too!!!❤
Love this! I needed some different ideas. I feel like I pack my daughter the same stuff. For those going on about the peanut butter thing she did mention in her video to use whatever butter and that sunflower butter is a thing. Just sayin 🤷🏽♀️
Thank you for showing actual quick and easy lunch idea's . My daughter is starting school soon and every video I watch on packable school lunches include how to waste your time cutting cucumber slices into stars and cutting and reshaping a sandwich so many times your kids ends up with 3 bites of sandwhich "BuT look HoW cute" lol
Haha I absolutely do not have time for that 😂 The most I do to make sandwiches look cute is using a Mickey Mouse shaped cookie cutter i've had for years! But i'm so glad this video was helpful to you, I do have a Part 2 on my channel if you're interested in other ideas! Thank you so much for watching! 💓
As a teacher I know that kids don’t want people “looking at” and “talking about” their lunch even if the looks and comments are admiring. They want food in containers they can manage, food that is familiar and food that they can eat quickly and with their fingers if they forget a fork. These lunches are great for that!
@@JustBethTrying Totally agree Beth! And you're right, the foods they get packed need to be eaten quickly! Had no idea how little time they actually got for lunch up until a couple years ago when we asked the school secretary.
I'm 51 and only just started taking my own lunch. the bento style boxes are fun and great idea using the silicone muffin cups to keep certain things from touching other things when needed. sorry McDonald's....but you can't offer the choices and variety of homemade lunches
Omg!!! You’re an angel! Your kids are so lucky to have you! Thank you so much for sharing. I’m headed to the grocery store now to get some things for my Kindergartener.
This remains one of my favorite lunch box videos because it is realistic 😁 there is some junk and some healthy. It's hard to be a balanced mom (not too healthy on food choices and not too relaxed on food choices)!
Oh I so appreciate this comment! You're right, it's totally all about balance. Definitely want to be mindful of what they're eating, without being overly strict too! Thank you so much! 💖
As long as the lunchbox is larger than 9.4” x 6.1” x 2”it should be good! I bought this lunchbox for my daughter a few weeks ago (comes in all different colors and styles!) and it fit perfectly💖 amzn.to/3QWdYkE
Absolutely love that I found your channel and this video with real life and realistic examples of lunches!! If I might make one suggestion it's that the music in between your voice is a little loud and I had to keep turning the volume up and down. Subscribed can't wait to check out the rest of your content! Do you have any specifics for lunch prep for the week ahead as opposed to making it the night before?
You are the sweetest, thank you so much for this and your feedback about the music! Ooh great question, the only thing that would be helpful that I could think of is cutting up your veggies ahead of time like carrots, cukes, broccoli, etc. Grapes and berries can always be washed ahead of time so it's easier to reach for and throw into the lunchbox! I generally pre-wash my strawberries and blueberries in a vinegar solution to wash them and dry them really good and place them in mason jars. They keep for a very long time! Thank you so much for watching! 💕
Thanks for sharing. However, my kids school does not allow cookies, cakes , juices, chips, gold fishes, … any snack considered unhealthy! So! I do have a hard time packing lunch for them. Also, i find the quantity large . Do they come home with left overs? Thanks again
How about 'sweets' like granola bars or graham crackers? Are crackers like wheat thins, triscuits and club crackers allowed? I imagine you have such a tough time i'm so sorry! The only thing I don't send to school with my kids are juices, as I never buy them only for special occasions. As far as portions go, the sections are actually considered a portion size, and/or slighly under a portion size! The 'chip' area actually doesn't even fit a single size portion of chips, so it totally helps with portion control which I so appreciate! Thank you so much for watching! I have a few other videos, maybe there's a few other ideas you can find in there? 🥰
Thanks for the detailed reply. I checked with the school. Granolas and crackers seems OK but no chips. I’m trying to learn more. My kids are young & you can imagine how often their taste for food changes. New favourites always 😁

Hello! Hope you're having a great week! Love the openess of your kitchen! Oh so cute the silicone little cupcakes! Those containers are soo good..big and spacious! The lunches looked so yummy! 🥰🥰
Thank you so much for saying that, I appreciate it! And you're so RIGHT! It's incredibly discouraging to see amazing lunches out there that are constructed into animals, shapes, buildings, etc 😅 It's like, "It looks cute, but I don't have 45 minutes to spend doing this, nor do I have the equipment." Not trying to be mean to other folks that do do that for their kids lunchboxes, but would like to offer additional, and like you said, realistic, ways and options to prepare them! 💕

i use the Guerrero soft flour tortillas that I get from Costco! And they definitely are warm (but not hot) by the time they eat them. Make sure to heat the filling up pretty hot along with the tortilla, and wrap it with foil and you're good to go! Or you can also buy a hot thermos that you place hot food into to keep it hot. Great video, It was easy, realistic, delicious and not soo cute that it looks like it was made for a youtube video and not an actual kids lunch. From a dad, great job with those lunches mom.
You're so right it's incredibly hard to balance! And it doesn't help that we hear so much negative things from all sides (too much processed food, homemade treats - you must have a lot of time on your hands, too healthy - not all kids have that type of tastes) but ultimately, we know what we can and can't do for our families. I'm just here to help with options and choices, so I appreciate this comment so much! 💓
Hi Lisa! I use the slim ice packs that go directly underneath the lunch container itself! I've linked the ice packs that I've used for years in my description box if you're interested. Thank you so much for watching! 💕
OH yay! I really hope you like them, I absolutely love them. And I hope you stick around, because I have a new lunch idea video coming out next week! Thanks for watching! 💖
Hi,I'm glad im watching this. My child goes to pre k and I have no idea what to pack him because he doesn't eat alot of things no bread no fruit barley and Vegetables
Just keep offering new foods! As they get older, they may become more adventurous in their eating and you never know when that will strike! I'm finding my daughter is becoming picky but every once in a while she'll surprise me with little bites of food from things I thought she would never eat! I have other lunchbox ideas on my channel if you're wanting other ideas too! Thank you so much for watching Brenda! 😍
Oh man, that's super frustrating. Definitely try lots of smaller 'snack' options to get a feel for what he likes! I have some other lunchbox videos and just came out with a new dessert edition today, hopefully those will be helpful to you Kemi! Thank you so much for watching! 💖
I love your LunchBox playlist! Can't wait for the next one. Wish I found you many years ago when my kids were young. Still works now that they are older though. Thank you!
Hey thank you so much! I didn't touch on it, but I use the slim ice packs that come in a four pack that fit right underneath the container! amzn.to/3mpnO4H They work great, i've had them since 2018! 💓
Yes I do, but in smaller amounts! So my daughter is in preschool, and whenever I fill the 'chip' compartment, I only fill it up halfway. Hope this helps! ♥
Thank you for these great ideas! I already knew about all this but then watching this kind of reminded me oh yeah that’s so smart. I can do all that! Hehe. 💓
Great question! In the summer and fall, I definitely do cause it gets super hot here, but during the winter it's cool enough to where they don't need them. These are the one's I absolutely love! amzn.to/3RgSIG2
Doesn’t it all just get mixed up in the lunch box with everything open like that? I find firmer things goes soft when there’s anything with moisture in the lunch box that’s not sealed.
Hey there Sarah! Actually, there's a pretty good seal on those lids to the compartments! However, if you get a crack in the lid, I've noticed, it doesn't seal as great and then the food can mix in if that's the case. But I'll start showing on my new videos, the lunch boxes when they get home and you'll be able to see that whatever food is not eaten, hasn't been mixed in. Hopefully this helps, but this was my worry too whenever I first bought them when my oldest was starting school, but they've been SO GOOD!
Hey Christine!💖 I use slim lunchbox ice packs that fit right at the bottom inside their lunchboxes and keep the lunch cool until lunch! I linked them in the description box of the ones I use. Thanks so much for watching!💕
I just found your channel last night when I was looking for freezer meal prep videos! Instantly subscribed 😊 can’t wait to catch up on the rest of your videos girl!
@@kristin_naomi Oh my gosh Kristin, you are so so sweet! I don't have a culinary background but would LOVE to go to culinary school! I just love food, and seeing how a bunch of ingredients can turn into something glorious! Thank you so much!
I send this to my mom so she can know that I want your ideas for my school lunch I’m in third grade😅 the food you make looks delicious👌🏿 I’m spitting facts
Aw no I don't 😞 i'm so sorry! I've never made a lot of vegan recipes myself (aside from chickpea brownies and a few soups). But hope you find something that your kids will love. I appreciate you taking the time to watch! 🥰
We've never had a problem with deli meats in kids lunches sitting for more than 3 hours, however you can absolutely use some slim ice packs (I actually just linked them in my description box to the ones we have!) to keep lunches even colder! I think as long as it's still cool, it should be all good. Thanks so much for watching! 💓
Hey thanks for the question! Honestly, not much comes back home. The serving sizes look SO MUCH bigger on camera than what they are. And days when there is some food leftover (which is usually my oldest because he talks too much in the cafeteria 😂) he'll finish when he gets home. In one of my future lunchbox videos, I'll try to do a comparison of what a serving would be in a regular sandwich bag compared to the 'chip area', if that makes sense.
Great video! My mum would pack me a couple of sandwiches when I was in school, but I didn't eat them because they were 'unpretty' compared with my classmates' pastry and snacks bought from a store. So mum stopped preparing lunches for me because I didn't touch them anyway. Instead, she started to give me some lunch money that I would spend on those empty snacks and pastry. Feels horrible when I look back at this situation, and I hope my child won't cringe at normal food like I did😢
Oh, don't feel bad at all, you were a kid! With that being said, I'm really mindful to try and not make my kids lunches 'cute' or 'pretty'. I don't want other kids around them to feel like their lunch is 'less than' if that makes sense? Also, I don't have the energy to make fun food haha! I bet your child won't cringe at all at normal food if you've already started good eating habits with them! 😍
@@SmithNLindsay yes definitely! The summer before the you get two started preschool, I would make their lunch at home, and place it all in the lunchbox (even though we weren’t going anywhere, we would still eat at home) just so I can watch them open it on their own and teach them if necessary. But they are pretty easy to open once they get used to it!😍
I wish my daughter could have PB & J sandwiches but in the district we live in you are not allowed any peanut products at all in any schools. I actually didn't know there were schools anywhere that allowed peanut products.
Hey there! Peanut products varies by district (or country schools in my area). My daughter actually goes to a school where there's no food restrictions! When I show pb in my videos, these lunches don't go to school with them, but they are usually for if we do day trips in our area, like if we go to the beach or mountains. But I totally get your frustration! PB & J's are the easiest (and tastiest!) sandwiches to make! Maybe you could try a toasted PB&J slice for breakfast before school so she doesn't feel like she's missing out? Thank you so much for watching! 💕
@Our Crow's Nest that's a great idea, thank you! My daughter is 10 and super picky, but really good about trying new foods (she rarely likes any, but at least she'll try lol) so I'm always looking for new food ideas. She doesn't like any veggies (but she gets them in her smoothy unknowingly) and for fruit she doesn't like any berries! Apples and kiwi but rarely eats more than a bite or two. Its a struggle
@@k.and.i That's awesome that she'll at least try something new! And how random that you mention smoothies, cause my husband the other day asked about making smoothies for their lunches! Do you send a smoothie to school with your daughter, and if you do, what type of container do you like? Also, has she ever tried the cotton candy grapes?! They are DELICIOUS! And it's almost like you're eating candy lol!
@Our Crow's Nest yes usually 3x a week i send a smoothy and the other 2 days we use an organization called healthy hunger and they deliver sub sandwiches and fruit drinks to the school for a great price! I have 3 different bottles that I use but I think she prefers the yeti rambler Jr insulated straw cup over the other two. The other two are just plain metal bottles that I personally prefer because everything stays cold for so long! But the yeti is convenient with its handle and straw :) I got it off Amazon for I think $30 (Canadian dollars) I have never heard of or seen cotton candy grapes but I will definitely be looking for them now 😋
@@k.and.i WHAT?! Oh my goodness I would absolutely love to use a service like this if we had one. Wow! Especially when there are just really hard days when I'm really sick and don't want to make ANYTHING, this service would be amazing!😭 Thank you for letting me know about the tumblers, I'm going to have to look into this as another lunch addition! Yes friend, be on the lookout for those grapes they are incredible! 😍
Oh wow, this is actually a great idea! My boys are sometimes hungry when they get home too, so this is perfect. Thank you so much for leaving this great comment!💓
Haha they actually do! Sometimes they’ll leave some of the chips and cookies to eat when they get home, but main, veggies and fruit are always gone🥰 thanks so much for watching!
I have a talker. So he does more talking than eating. Hoping if I make it more fun he will eat the meal. Last year I’d pack lunches just sometimes. A pbj, veggies straws and if I packed a third items like yogurt or cheese stick he couldn’t finish his lunch and it wouldn’t stay cold till he got home. I have tried saying eat the things that need to be cold first. But last year he was only in kindergarten. This year he’s going to pack a lunch everyday so I’m hoping it will get better.
@@kimberlyswenson5757 so funny you say this, but that’s exactly what I talked about with my oldest years back when he was in Kinder! He talked (and still does!) a lot but learned he had to eat the essentials first (fruit and veggies) which is probably why he still brings home chips and his treat!😂 it will absolutely get better! 💕💕
That's what was happening with all my kids too in the very beginning when they were younger! So what i've done with each kid, is I start removing a lot of their desserts (instead of giving 3 oreos, I would give 1 or even 1/2 or instead of a whole mini muffin, I would cut it) and we'd talk about how they can earn back the rest of their dessert by eating their fruits and veggies. Eventually they all grew out of that! I hope this helps and thank you for wathcing! 💖

Just ordered those lunch boxes and a new rectangular lunch bag to fit them :) loved this video, thank you for the great ideas! Xo
Love it and pls keep ‘em coming. I m clueless for my little one who just started school and he s been coming back home with his box untouched😏
Thank you!
Aw thank you so much for this comment, that's so sweet, I appreciate you saying that! More coming soon! 💖

You are so welcome and thank you for always being so supportive friend! 💓
Some great quick and Easy lunch box ideas - just curious how you keep the food safe until lunch time?
Hey thank you so much! I didn't touch on it, but I use the slim ice packs that come in a four pack that fit right underneath the container! amzn.to/3mpnO4H They work great, i've had them since 2018! 💓
Great video! 😄
Thank you so much Olivia! 💖
Love this great job mom 💞
Aw thank you so much! Happy Friday! 🥰
You can put mayo on their roll up’s?
Definitely! I do such a small amount for them, but I also will include an ice pack in the warmer months. Thank you so much for watching!💕
@@OurCrowsNest5 not safe.
Do you give chips to prek or K kids?
Yes I do, but in smaller amounts! So my daughter is in preschool, and whenever I fill the 'chip' compartment, I only fill it up halfway. Hope this helps! ♥
very delicious food, i love your video!
Thank you very much I appreciate that! 💕
Love your vedio❤
Thank you so much I appreciate that! 💕
hi where you buy those shapes please
Hi there! From Amazon! If you look in my description box, I linked all of the products I used here in this video. Thanks so much for watching!💓
Thank you for these great ideas! I already knew about all this but then watching this kind of reminded me oh yeah that’s so smart. I can do all that! Hehe. 💓
Aw thanks so much Anastasia! 💗
Thank you
You're welcome, thank you so much for watching! ♥
So you put an ice pack in when using mayo?
Omg I LOVE your videos I have been watch since day 1# ❤❤❤❤
Oh my gosh thank you SO MUCH for this comment, made my day! 💕
Love love all these ideas!
Thank you :)

Hello! 👋 Very nice! Great ideas!
Thank you Tonya! 💓
how do you keep their lunches cold? ty
Hey Christine!💖 I use slim lunchbox ice packs that fit right at the bottom inside their lunchboxes and keep the lunch cool until lunch! I linked them in the description box of the ones I use. Thanks so much for watching!💕
What the bread brand?
I usually use the Franz 100% Whole Wheat Bread from Costco! It's soft and super affordable!
@@OurCrowsNest5 thanks
Loved it
Thank you so much for watching! 💖

Do you have a culinary background? I love all of your cooking tips and tricks and your recipes always look amazing! Lol
Haha you're the best! Make sure to send her my other lunchbox videos too 😂💕
Do you have Vegan recipes for kids?
Aw no I don't 😞 i'm so sorry! I've never made a lot of vegan recipes myself (aside from chickpea brownies and a few soups). But hope you find something that your kids will love. I appreciate you taking the time to watch! 🥰
Good idea for kids lunches in there school lunchbox and bistro box to how about mushrooms on the side with ranch dressing my name is Heather
What a fantastic idea! Never thought about giving mushrooms as a side,, thanks for that and thank you so much for watching! 💖
Where u buy cookie cutter
Hi there! Here's the Mickey Mouse Cookie Cutter I use for the sandwiches :) amzn.to/3xczkTl
Thats super neat, ill try this for my picky teen. :)
Hey Tammy!💕 hopefully one of these
will work lol! Thanks so much for watching 💓
Love these ideas!!! I’ll have to get some of those containers!
Thanks Candace, I just love the containers! Will have to order more when my daughter starts going to preschool next year😭
Regarding the turkey in the wrap - i thought we are not meant to use meat as it will sit longer than 2 hours in the lunchbox?
We've never had a problem with deli meats in kids lunches sitting for more than 3 hours, however you can absolutely use some slim ice packs (I actually just linked them in my description box to the ones we have!) to keep lunches even colder! I think as long as it's still cool, it should be all good. Thanks so much for watching! 💓
I have a question please. Doing some research for my own kids. How much of what you are putting in their lunchboxes actually come back home?
Hey thanks for the question! Honestly, not much comes back home. The serving sizes look SO MUCH bigger on camera than what they are. And days when there is some food leftover (which is usually my oldest because he talks too much in the cafeteria 😂) he'll finish when he gets home. In one of my future lunchbox videos, I'll try to do a comparison of what a serving would be in a regular sandwich bag compared to the 'chip area', if that makes sense.
Thank you so much!@@OurCrowsNest5
Love your video it is an amazing video.
th-cam.com/video/s4dyNIJU2es/w-d-xo.html
Hiii I am going in 4th grade in 1 week so can you do it? It would really be helpful
Haha congratulations on moving into the 4th grade! ✨ I hope you'll have a great and happy year!
This should be called "How to make people crave stuff even if they don't like it"
Haha love it! Thanks so much for watching! 💖
😂😂
SO TRUE 😅
Thx 4 share
Thank you so much for watching, I appreciate it! 😍
Can young kids easily open the container?
@@SmithNLindsay yes definitely! The summer before the you get two started preschool, I would make their lunch at home, and place it all in the lunchbox (even though we weren’t going anywhere, we would still eat at home) just so I can watch them open it on their own and teach them if necessary. But they are pretty easy to open once they get used to it!😍
Brillant video. Giving me anxiety that you didn't cut the grapes though 😮 xx
Haha sorry about that, I do cut the grapes now for sure! Thank you so much for watching Olivia! 💕
But the yeti is convenient with its handle and straw :) I got it off Amazon for I think $30 (Canadian dollars)
I have never heard of or seen cotton candy grapes but I will definitely be looking for them now 😋
@@k.and.i WHAT?! 😍
Thanks so much, I was about to lose my job bcz of lunch box for kids, God bless you

Thank you so much, and thanks for being here! 😍
I let my kids eat the scraps of their sandwichs as a snack after school with some fruits. Loved your ideas btw❤️ subscribed✨
Oh wow, this is actually a great idea! My boys are sometimes hungry when they get home too, so this is perfect. Thank you so much for leaving this great comment!💓
Do they eat all of that?
Couldn’t you wrap the burritos in foil to help keep them warm?
Absolutely you can do that! I was trying to create less waste, but might need to do that in the cooler months:) Thank you so much for watching! 💞
My daughter starts always by eating desserts and all veggies come back home🤦🏻♀️. Thank you for showing this
That's what was happening with all my kids too in the very beginning when they were younger! 💖
