A lot of people would never understand how anyone could have a sentimental or nostalgic attachment to something as utilitarian as a milling machine...but I am no one of them. Congratulations and I am glad you have it!
Mr Pete, it must really warm your heart to be this respected by so many people! Gifted a milling machine, what a huge score! Congrats on the gift, and enjoy that warm feeling, you deserve it. Thanks for all your time and sharing! 👍😎
You are truly a lucky/gifted person. 1- you had some unused space in your garage (kinda like having a unicorn) 2- you were gifted a beautiful mill by a truly generous/gracious person (thanks Matt!) 3- the mill showed up with a forklift attached!!! 4- placing the machine proceeded without any significant drama 5- you no longer have any open space in your garage!! The cycle of life is complete:-)
It's always a pleasure watching experienced machinery movers and riggers: they can get large, heavy loads in & out of places would wouldn't think is possible. Thanks for including the shot of the trailer bed in motion. I've seen full-size, low-boy flatbeds that have hydraulic tilt, but never something like this for a small trailer. You also see heavy duty flatbeds that are configured so that a fork lift can raise itself up by the forks and be secured by chains & turnbuckles so that the body of the fork lift hangs off the end of the bed. Enjoy the anticipation of Spring so you can start working on your new addition.
I like how you already have a green-screen set up for the future South Bend videos, Mr Pete. And an amazing gesture from the folks at Lost Creek Machinery!
I'm really pleased for you, it must be great to have the same machine that your brother had installed in his place back in the day. Looking forward to some updates on this rare machine, yes, good for you Mr. Pete!
Congratulations on your new machine. Definitely looking forward to seeing it running. There's nothing like the feeling of using something that a family member has used. I think of my dad every time I use one of his tools and get the feeling he's their with me helping.
it just warms my heart to see them Bless you with this machine. Lord knows you have blessed so many of us with educational material over the years. the little bit I know about machine work is all owed to you! I cant thank you enough for all you have shared with me here on your channel.
That was a great job of filling that void! Very generous of LC to gift that to you, and to us through you! They are well equipped and experienced at moving heavy equipment!
Kudos to Matt and Lost Creek Machinery ! They couldn't have found a better home for that interesting and I guess somewhat rare mill. I've only seen pictures of them mainly in the SB catalog. Looking forward to the upcoming, walkaround and tire kicking. Thanks Mr. Pete !!
I regret not living closer to you folks. Generosity today can sometimes be hard to find. I saw how much they were asking for that mill in your last video, then to haul it unload it and spot it is quite a gift indeed. I wish I lived closer to patronize them. They must be really good people. Enjoy
I am as green with envy as that back drop behind the new machine. I don't envy the mill as it is not my thing but I know the excitement when a new machine comes home to fill an empty spot and it has been a while since I added to my woodworking shop. So now I need to fight the impulse to go find a machine to add to my shop, grin... Congratulations of the new machine, too bad it is getting cold and it will need to set our there till spring.
Magnificent !! Being a South Bend lathe (2) owner, that machine gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. Glad to see the move went so well. When I bought my [Harford] 'Bridgeport' there was a forklift at the sell sight and luckily a forklift was on temporary duty at the airport where my shop is located. Since then I have used the rolling pipe method to reposition it a couple of times. Congratulations, Mr Pete.
Good job Lyle and Matt. Much better to fill your garage with useful machinery than worn out furniture and junk. Looking forward to seeing this oddly built machine run.
Well Mr Pete you lucky man it looks like a great mill ,can't wait for upcoming videos and how incredibly generous of the boys to gift it to you. God bless from down under.
Santa doesn't always wear red,, this gift not only made your day but will provide hours of enjoyment to us viewers,, I been needing a chuck for my old atlas lathe I'll have to drop them a email and send a little business there direction
What a fabulous machine to be gifted to you, it couldn’t have found a better home! I’ll look forward to the spring when you can venture into a warmer garage to get it working. Thanks for all the videos past and future from the UK 🇬🇧
Seeing the forklift on the trailer, my guess is Matt knows a thing or two about moving machines 🤔. When my son-in-law asked me for my daughter's hand I said that there was no bride-price, but there was also no returns policy 😉
Wow! Santa is looking a lot younger these days... And his sleigh is way cooler.... And he's early! I'm so happy for you Mr Pete. I'm looking forward to learning more about it.
Looking forward to videos on the South Bend mill, always a fan of anything South Bend. Looks great in that empty space, Tubalcain. Those boys at Lost Creek know you are a hellva guy and will put that mill to good use.
Up to this point, I have done very little with that South Bend milling machine. I need to get on that. I was over at lost creek earlier today talking to the boys
What a cool score. Those guys are smart, too, thats just good advertising. If I lived anywhere near, I would check them first when looking for machines.
Thanks for sharing ... Congrats on the new toy ( Old machine ). I am guessing next spring you will be doing some CPR and bring some classic metal back to life. I am thrilled for you to be reunited with an old friend. Looking forward to spring and your videos to come.... Stay Safe..
So cool that your brother built that southbend mill and it made it's way back to you. The generosity of the brothers at lost creek machine to have given you knowing how much it means to you Thanksgiving may God bless their business 7 fold
Great looking Machine! There's nothing like the day a new machine comes into your shop. I remember growing up on the farm when my dad bought a used Allis Chamers D19 Tractor. Your video made me think of that day and how excited we were. I took some pictures on my insta-matic camera and still have them. Looking forward to the upcoming videos on the new South Bend!
It’s always fun on new tool day. The last two milling machines I moved, I hired the local tow truck driver to unload them. Used his boom to lift it off the truck and set it just inside my shop onto the equipment rollers. Best $60 I have spent.
Awesome all the way around, Good on them for donating it to you. You have done so much to promote this dying trade, it seems most appropriate. Yes I'll be around when the weather warms up, and watching more auction videos you have till then, so long for now.
The neighbours window blinds were twitching as they rolled their eyes and muttered “what’s he gone and bought now?”! 😂 Beautiful machine, beautifully installed. 👏👏
I have almost the exact same machine except I have the coolant tank housed in the same cabinet as the hydraulic tank. I did not have the rod and indicator system of table locating, but I did add a digital readout for the X-Y directions. Mine is 220v. single phase. It came out of a professional machinist's home shop for his hobby work along with a 10" heavy SouthBend lathe. Both having very little wear. I was lucky enough to get a good amount of tooling with both machines. S.B. Rt angle power attachment for the Mill, boring head, ZZ collets, etc. Being a home machine mine never had the belt guards added. I will be looking forward to see more videos with you using this mill. I don't tend to use the hydraulic quill feed very often but it does make for some smooth boring operations.
I have the "single axle" version of the trailer used to haul the forklift. I deliver and relocate residential gun safes and yes it has made life much easier. Congratulations on the mill. I paid just $1,200 for my Bridgeport so I feel very fortunate, definitely got a great deal! But free? That's a whole other level I can only imagine. Again, congratulations. It couldn't have happened to a nicer person.
Lyle - You're right, not a real shop unless it is a crowded shop. I've always had 10 pounds worth in a 5 pound bag - no matter how much room I had. Nice machine and easy delivery.
Yes, you did a great job filling the space. That machine looks very complicated with all the hydraulics. No wonder they didn't make very many of them. That was extremely generous of the brothers, I am sure you will make some great videos with the machine. It will be very interesting to see you make the missing parts.
For a minute there I thought you were going to have to get out the sawzall and cut out a section of that light. That was definitely the easy way. Great job. Happy South Bend.
I remember you didn't have very favorable results with your VFD projects. Might be a good time to revisit the VFD. It has been a long time and more options and info is available.
Nice prize. Looking forward to becoming more familiar with it. I noticed some extra free space in the garage where a nice DONATED heater would fit nicely.
What a fantastically wonderful person Matt is for doing this all for you. It certainly has gone to a good home.
Thanks

Thank you
wow ... what a nice thing to do for Mr Pete thanks Matt and Jason !
When I saw Matt I said "I know that guy". I see him at Old Threasures every year. That was really thoughtful of them to give you the milling machine.
Yes

Very generous of LC to gift that to you, and to us through you!

Well said!
Matt is a super nice guy, what a great place to buy a machine from! It shows the brothers love what they do.
Yes
What an awesome gesture of the Krug boys. I agree about that trailer pretty neat.
Kudos to Matt and Lost Creek Machinery ! They couldn't have found a better home for that interesting and I guess somewhat rare mill. I've only seen pictures of them mainly in the SB catalog. Looking forward to the upcoming, walkaround and tire kicking. Thanks Mr. Pete !!

Lovely story and a beaut machine. Well done all of you, including the people who made and used that machine.
Thanks

That machine delivery was absolutely painless! You are a lucky man.
Yes
Enjoy the new machine. Can't wait to see it in use.

That IS an interesting machine. I look forward to seeing it operate. The various drive forms are different.
Thanks for showing it to us!
You shall
Nice work and great generosity. 4.44 degrees Celsius, freeze the walls off of a bark humpy.
Incredibly nice of Matt! A well deserved milling machine!

Yay! Thanks for sharing Mr. Pete!!!!
That was pretty sweet of the Kung brothers donating that mill to the cause🤗😎🤗😎
I think that trailer stole the show. That thing is awesome.
Yes, I have never seen one like it
Awesome sir, and VERY good to see that you are not slowing down, quite the opposite!!! If you are enjoying it, just keep doing what feels right.
👍
Looks like a great machine. Having the right equipment to shift heavy items makes a huge difference! Look forward to seeing it in use!

I know it's tough to get out in Studio B in the winter time, especially with the Bridgeport down in the warm basement.
The right tools for the job make life a breeze!
What a cool score. Those guys are smart, too, thats just good advertising. If I lived anywhere near, I would check them first when looking for machines.
👍 Never seen a space filled as easy as how that forktruck done it. Looking forward to seeing the machine running again

glad you got a new toy :)
Many congratulations Mr. Pete with what you filled that empty space with! Eager to see many future products produced off that fine Mill !

Good story. I had one of those Insta Matics In 1966
That is absolutely wonderful.. So cool of them to pass it on to you.
Matt missed my house Mr.Pete and ended up at yours with the machine. Very Nice South Bend and God Bless you and Matt. Ricko
lol
It’s always fun on new tool day.
The last two milling machines I moved, I hired the local tow truck driver to unload them. Used his boom to lift it off the truck and set it just inside my shop onto the equipment rollers. Best $60 I have spent.
👍👍
I did the same w/tow truck. Best $ spent!
Excellent job filling the empty space in your garage! Congratulations!

Best video from the best man in machining
Thank you very much
Wow! Now **THAT** is how to have a machine delivered. Nice acquisition.
Great addition to your shop, I will be watching for more videos on it.

Wow, that's a nice machine. I'm very happy for you Mr. Pete.
Congratulations on filling that gaping void!!
Empty spaces in a shop are always a problem waiting to be “fixed”. Great job fixing your empty space!
👍
The neighbours window blinds were twitching as they rolled their eyes and muttered “what’s he gone and bought now?”! 😂
Beautiful machine, beautifully installed. 👏👏
lol
Congratulations Mr pete ,, It's fun getting their toys
Awesome!!!! Free tools for a great guy from another great guy!
Thanks
I learned on a machine just like that one.The high school in Henrico county (Richmond Va area)had one.It was in 1967.That was a long time ago.
👍👍
Pretty cool it was delivered where your brother worked. Looks like a nice addition mr Pete
Thanks for sharing 👍
We are lucky to have your videos where you were lucky to have a very nice Christmas present.
Thanks

Thank you, I am glad to hear from another owner. This one does not have the coolant pump
Nice gift. You don't see many of these around. Next summer should be fun as Mr Pete explores the somewhat rare beast. Cheers
I met Matt down at an auction in shelbyville, IL. very nice guy.
I moved my Bridgeport 30 feet into the shop with a 4' bar one inch at a time! I use a rotary phase converter. Congrats on your new mill!
👍👍
I have the "single axle" version of the trailer used to haul the forklift. I deliver and relocate residential gun safes and yes it has made life much easier.

I hate it when Mr. Pete is troubled by an empty space in shop 😎 thanks lost creek machine , and 👍
lol
Congratulations!!
You are a lucky man😁😁you have a wonderful grin on your
Face, enjoy,
😀
Mr. Pete, that is a beautiful machine. I am looking forward to when you fire it up and use it. Keep up the good work and videos.
Yes, you did a great job filling the space. That machine looks very complicated with all the hydraulics. No wonder they didn't make very many of them. That was extremely generous of the brothers, I am sure you will make some great videos with the machine. It will be very interesting to see you make the missing parts.
I think you did a great job of filling your empty space. I look forward to future videos on this machine.
What a cool machine! Can't wait to see it in action.
what a wonderful thing to do.
This makes me happy. I really hated the video series contemplating downsizing, apartments, etc.
God I'd love a knee mill of that size to replace my bench top. Good for you Mr. Pete
Nice. Perfect for your woodshop..
Can't wait to see this thing in operation. I'm sure it'll be a bit nostalgic for you, Mr. Pete, having a machine your brother likely used.
Wonderful Job on fixing the empty space! I'll send some documentation that I have on the "nuts and bolts" of the machine.
Please do
Awesome Awesome Awesome!!!!
I have a smaller version of that trailer for my scissor lift. I was great for moving my mill and my lathe home as well.
👍
This is GREAT!
Got some work now getting it wired and going, have fun
Nice prize. Looking forward to becoming more familiar with it. I noticed some extra free space in the garage where a nice DONATED heater would fit nicely.

Thanks for the video.
Interesting machine! That trailer is great. Many times I've wished I had a similar one.
