My wife cared for an 85 year old man. Thanksgiving she invited his relatives and some friends over for Thanksgiving dinner. The kitchen sink drain got clogged and they wound up calling Roto-Rooter as they were the only ones that would show up. $350 later, the drain was fixed. For an additional $750 they wanted to snake all the way to the street, even though the slop sink in the basement emptied at a rate of 100% flow. It took me 20 minutes to explain to the man's daughter that they only wanted to rip him off while they were there. No one admitted any fault of putting anything down the sink's drain.
@@SmedleyPlumbing More unrealistic than dangerous. What keeps small amounts of grease from being a big plumbing issue is the use of a good dish soap like Dawn. I guess some may rinse grease down the drain and wash their pans using only water in which case all I can say is “Forrest Gump was correct.” 😁

Thanks for the info 😊

Can you jet clean the pipes with a jet tool to remove the grease?
Yes you can if you get to it in time.

It happens. Quite often too. Sometimes guests are the final straw that pushes a line over its limits.
My dad clog his sink up cost 400 to unclog it now it’s clogged again what should I do ?
@@GeneG-wk2mz might be time to replace some piping if it's getting clogged that often.
Is it the same for those of us with old non-pvc pipes?
100%. Probably even more important for those with non PVC piping.
What’s best way to unclog it ??
Depends on how clogged it is. Sometimes we have to replace the piping if it's too clogged. Other times an auger or a better does the trick.
To answer the question..."only if you want to make a plumber rich "
This is true!
Who washes greasy pans with only water? Try the experiment using Dawn dish soap like the rest of us use.
I live dangerously I guess....

So just use cold water and you will be fine. Thank you.
I believe we suggest exactly that.
