This is the first time I didnt get confused watching a video about cutting machines. 😅 I get my Portrait 4 in a few days and you have been super helpful. Not a lot ot content for the 4 and it's been hard to find guides for those who are new to machine cutting. Thank you so so much!
    Looking forward to more!

Keep in mind that most videos and tutorials will work for all machines. It does not have to specifically feature the Portrait 4. The main difference is the cutting width. The P4 uses a smaller mat and has only one tool housing... That's about the list of differences.

I don't know a thing about power tools on the Portrait 4. I bought the machine just a few days ago and I'm still getting to know it while skimming through your videos which are a great help by the way. But good to know that you'll have to operate power tools with the lid open, because cutting with the lid open alone means a good deal more volume. I guess it would bei the same if you could close the lid with power tools.
Your hint with holding the cutting mat up is great as I still had precision issues even after calibration. I did the calibration again with holding the mat as you recommended and the cutting is now exact where it has to be. You won't find that in any manual, only practice can teach you that.

I don't have any issues with any of the Silhouette machines reading registration marks. In most troubleshooting cases that we deal with, it's usually something in the setup that is causing it or a dirty machine.
Going back to the basics of the print and cut and using all the defaults with a Silhouette cutting mat can eliminate a lot of the reasons a print and cut fails.
If you are having issues, please set it up step-by-step following this and do a test print with a Silhouette cutting mat.

The Portrait 4 Electrostatic Bed will be the same cutting width and size as the cutting mat. This is 8.5" x 12". However, with the Electrostatic Bed, you cannot cut edge to edge or the electrostatic charge is broken. That isn't an issue with print and cut since you don't cut edge to edge because of the registration marks.

You don't have to pair anything..... in fact, having it paired in your computer settings can interfere with the connection entirely.
The only place the bluetooth needs to be connected in on the Send tab in the Silhouette software.
Click on the little machine icon with the red number on it and that is where the connections show.
If it is taking longer than you want to connect, swap it to a new connection in that menu and swap it back.... it usually connects within a few seconds.

Can the Silhouette Portrait 4 cut labels from a roll?

    • @SilhouetteSecrets
      @SilhouetteSecrets  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Silhouette can cut from a roll with lined material such as adhesive vinyl and heat transfer vinyl.
However, if you are wanting to cut printed labels from a roll, it's not really designed for that as it uses registration marks to read where the design is. Setting up a long roll to cut with registration marks doesn't really work.

I bought this machine because I thought it was best. Wrong. Should have went with Cricut. The first 4 times i used it to make stickers, the cuts with my portrait 4 were almost perfect. But after that, I am lucky to get 3 stickers out of a whole sheet that are a decent cut. Almost all the cut lines are way off and it appears to drift down the page. I have changed nothing. I didn’t even move the machine. I didn’t adjust any settings. I’ve double and triple checked everything they tell you to check. This is so frustrating. I guess I’m gonna have to manually adjust the cut lines? This machine has cost me money in sticker paper and time. I’m seriously about to throw it in the trash and buy a Cricut. I don’t even expect it to be perfect, but the cut lines for my stickers are way off and I cannot sell them that way. It seems this is a huge issue for a lot of people. Does silhouette plan on addressing this or fixing this? Is it a software issue?

Here is what I'd recommend even if you have tried other things - I'd recommend doing this in this exact order step-by-step and then how are the cuts...
      1. Unplug the machine and then carefully move the blade housing all the way to the right and all the way to the left. Do this 3 more times and leave it on the right side. Plug it back in and turn it on.
      2. Follow this tutorial and set everything back up at all the defaults for the Portrait 4.
      silhouette-secrets.com/2020/01/28/lets-explore-v4-print-cut-basics/
      3. Use the Portrait 4 cutting mat that came with the machine. Do not use any other cutting mats. Do not use an old Portrait cutting mat. It is not the same size. I show exactly the difference here
