But to be fair: We don't know what system will pop up AFTER you buffed your gem with 5 other gems. These systems only show up after you get to that point.
It should be a gigantic, lumbering vacuum-mawed abomination called the Bobbicon Kotickulus that steals all your gear and loot, de-levels you, then puts you back at the beginning of the game. (Which is now permanently locked until you purchase a Gem of Extortion online for the bargain price of one kidney and your first-born child.)

Diablo Immortal is definitive proof of something i denied was happening years ago. Blizzard has been crashing and burning basically since the release of the Cataclysm expansion of WoW. Some will argue it was happening before, others might argue it really started sometime after. But that's when i started noticing a shift of perceptions about them personally. To me, WotLK was their peak and it's only been going straight downhill from there and the downhill slope is only getting steeper and steeper as time presses on.
Indeed! Vanilla WoW was gold, yet somewhat unpolished, BC was diamond and WotLK was the crown jewel. Ever since that, the series, and the company itself, started going down the spiral.

It's a pathetic number for mobile game standard, and I'm not sure if they can gain more profit after the backlash. Their rushed announcement of D4 proved they are in massive trouble atm, and we have no idea D4's development process and they announced it's gonna release next year? I've seen more ppl be worried about this game being monetized to hell and back than a hype train.

I worked at Blizz until 2016; none of this is surprising. Really should have seen it coming, if not with MT in WoW, then the RMAH, and really even later, with HS. They haven't just become greedy overnight.

And the saddest thing is that they're not wrong. Exactly why it was being pushed onto phones over PC. It's very easy to attach a card and then click purchases in-game with ease. The less time a transaction takes, the less time that person will second guess the transaction. It's 100% designed to train and encouraged gambling addiction.
It's actually far worse then what you presented here, but this was just the honest trailer, not the deep dive into all 9 circles of hell. The first paywall is the 1st circle. Figuring out that you can only sell gems from premium $$ only lootboxes is just the 7th circle. PVP for whales only is the 8th circle. But the 9th circle was socketing gems into gems as was recently unleashed upon the Game users. Making the estimated max money needed for just one of your characters from $140,000 to $700,000 USD.
I've tried playing it. To anyone who says "oh it's fun to play, just don't spend money": there are SO MANY better games out there, including the actual Diablo 3. Don't spend your time on that garbage.
THANK YOU! I am so sick of people bashing Diablo 3. I mean the first game had great lore and atmosphere but I always found it clunky as hell. Diablo 3 is a lot more streamlined and the RoS expansion gave us a solid endgame.
While this may not be the darkest timeline, I wholeheartedly believe a common factor among all the dark timelines is that Diablo Immortal exists within them.

Nothing comes close to Diablo Immortal’s. At the very least they added decency that its fully diminishing return or alternative way to get it like ceilings or tickets.
Also in genshin defense. There is no actual paywall. Everything you need to complete the challenges and story in the game can be obtain through actually playing the game.

In my assumption you have also lost every 50/50 for chars and weapons. Also the first spend bonus has not been taken into consideration. Obviously it is still an absurd amount of money but is only a tiny fraction of immortals (possible) worst luck spening of up to 900K afaik.

Now as for Diablo Immortal, I have not played it, but I have been with the series since day #1 and I've seen, and unfortunately have fallen pray to the gambling addiction that is games like this with forced micro-transactions. From FF Brave Exvius, to Dragon Quest Tactics, these developers are insidious, they prey on both younger gamer's with the newer units and items that they think would appeal to them, in addition to targeting older gamer's with nostalgic content from our youth. Its good business sense, but its a despicable and downright dirty tactic many of these mobile *and PC/console* developers are utilizing now. Truly makes me sick to be entirely honest trailer with you. The last one I played was the final straw for me though, so I will probably never even see Diablo Immortal aside from videos such as this. At any rate, keep up the laughs, we all need it even more now days. 👍

So i never have played any games from diablo before,so i wanted to try this out. Story was good, gameplay(not game mechanics) was actually Pretty great from most rpg's on mobile. I finished the story mode, hit paragon level,then uninstalled that.overall a 4/10. Shadow missions and bounties sucked. The same repetitive things over and over again. If you want to play a good mobile rpg,you should try "pascal's wager" it's actually good.
And seeing as the new gem slot expansion just came to light and ended up giving us a new 540,000 USD conservative estimate (read: might need 3 times more than that) to max out a character. One just needs to sell everything oneself and family owns, save for the phone and the kitchen sink.
4:36 Diablo 3 didn't have inventory Tetris either and it was a blessing. Haven't reached endgame yet but after like 30 hours I still have a blast with f2p pve, if you don't expect a full game for totally free it's like a nice free addon for D3, sorta

They should have burned when they tried to steal/withhold a Hearthstone winner´s price money for publicly supporting Taiwan (might have been Honk Kong, was a while ago), and firing the broadcasters. At this point i just say good job and well done to Blizzard because they are not doing anything wrong at all since apparently they do have their customer base´s support for doing all of this. To give Blizzard money is comparable to going out and hiring a pegging dominatrix, there is nothing forced and are consensual in either case and a deal between two parties, you even get to feel butt hurt in both cases afterwards.
The whole reason for this is to buff up income in the short term, so those on the board and CEO can take massive bonuses before MS buys them out next year and they are all pushed out of the company.

Well, not entirely. The game only make $24 million and less than 10 millions players in 2 weeks. It's a pathetic number for mobile game standard, and I'm not sure if they can gain more profit after the backlash.
Their rushed announcement of D4 proved they are in massive trouble atm, and we have no idea D4's development process and they announced it's gonna release next year? I've seen more ppl be worried about this game being monetized to hell and back than a hype train.

Seeing Blizzard turn into a greedy company is so gut-wrenching. To think I used to want to strive to be an artist for them. I hope they change in a decade or so...
I worked at Blizz until 2016; none of this is surprising. Really should have seen it coming, if not with MT in WoW, then the RMAH, and really even later, with HS. They haven't just become greedy overnight.
Our only hope is Microsoft if they cant turn it around then they are done but personally I think its too late now, Their reputation is destroyed forever now after DI, Just look at what they are doing to D4, They are trying even a shop there and word the P2W in codes, They definitely have malicious intent with the D4 shop. The people who made Blizzard, Blizzard jumped ship ages ago. Whatever the hell that company is now, it's definitely not the Blizzard we grew up with. Make no mistake, between this fiasco, WC Reforged and all the controversies of the past few years, they clearly seem to think of themselves as one of those companies too big to fail, with a legion of fans who will happily eat anything with their brand name attached, not a videogame company.
And the saddest thing is that they're not wrong. Even now, you can find in Reddit people happily praising Blizzard for Diablo Immortal, carefully trying to navigate around all the inconveniences artificially put there by Blizzard and the whales, while convincing themselves that there's nothing wrong with the game.

It's actually far worse then what you presented here, but this was just the honest trailer, not the deep dive into all 9 circles of hell.
The first paywall is the 1st circle.
Figuring out that you can only sell gems from premium $$ only lootboxes is just the 7th circle.
PVP for whales only is the 8th circle.
But the 9th circle was socketing gems into gems as was recently unleashed upon the Game users. Making the estimated max money needed for just one of your characters from $140,000 to $700,000 USD.
You may yet be optimistic in assuming there are only 9 levels sadly.
The 10th level of hell is the per character limitation.

THANK YOU! I am so sick of people bashing Diablo 3. I mean the first game had great lore and atmosphere but I always found it clunky as hell. Diablo 3 is a lot more streamlined and the RoS expansion gave us a solid endgame.

This actually makes me want to dust off Diablo 3 to remember the relatively pleasant introduction it gave me to the franchise before Blizzard burned it to the ground.

Whatever you can say about Genshin Impact, even it's monetization system is nowhere near as brazenly abusive as Diablo Immortal's.
Nothing comes close to Diablo Immortal’s. At the very least they added decency that its fully diminishing return or alternative way to get it like ceilings or tickets.
Also in genshin defense. There is no actual paywall. Everything you need to complete the challenges and story in the game can be obtain through actually playing the game.

In my assumption you have also lost every 50/50 for chars and weapons. Also the first spend bonus has not been taken into consideration.
Obviously it is still an absurd amount of money but is only a tiny fraction of immortals (possible) worst luck spening of up to 900K afaik.

Initial player numbers mean nothing. The only numbers that matter is how many whales they can harpoon and how heavy they are.

But this will cause the law to act on it eventually. China already banned immortal from release and with it possibly all blizzard titles. That's a lot of money they won't get.

The fact that I got a Diablo Immortal ad at the end of this video made me laugh a LOT harder than it should have.
First of all, hilarious as always Honest Trailers, and on point. Now as for Diablo Immortal, I have not played it, but I have been with the series since day #1 and I've seen, and unfortunately have fallen pray to the gambling addiction that is games like this with forced micro-transactions. From FF Brave Exvius, to Dragon Quest Tactics, these developers are insidious, they prey on both younger gamer's with the newer units and items that they think would appeal to them, in addition to targeting older gamer's with nostalgic content from our youth.
Its good business sense, but its a despicable and downright dirty tactic many of these mobile *and PC/console* developers are utilizing now. Truly makes me sick to be entirely honest trailer with you. The last one I played was the final straw for me though, so I will probably never even see Diablo Immortal aside from videos such as this. At any rate, keep up the laughs, we all need it even more now days. 👍

There is a daily cap on spending. But other than that cap increasing with each new circle of hell you go through. Soon the best value 800% lie for $0.99 quickly becomes $224.99 MICROtransactions.

So i never have played any games from diablo before,so i wanted to try this out. Story was good, gameplay(not game mechanics) was actually Pretty great from most rpg's on mobile. I finished the story mode, hit paragon level,then uninstalled that.overall a 4/10. Shadow missions and bounties sucked. The same repetitive things over and over again.
If you want to play a good mobile rpg,you should try "pascal's wager" it's actually good.

And seeing as the new gem slot expansion just came to light and ended up giving us a new 540,000 USD conservative estimate (read: might need 3 times more than that) to max out a character. One just needs to sell everything oneself and family owns, save for the phone and the kitchen sink.

Blizzard needs to burn at this point. I'm sure most would agree.
They should have burned when they tried to steal/withhold a Hearthstone winner´s price money for publicly supporting Taiwan (might have been Honk Kong, was a while ago), and firing the broadcasters.
At this point i just say good job and well done to Blizzard because they are not doing anything wrong at all since apparently they do have their customer base´s support for doing all of this.
To give Blizzard money is comparable to going out and hiring a pegging dominatrix, there is nothing forced and are consensual in either case and a deal between two parties, you even get to feel butt hurt in both cases afterwards.
Just make sure you lock the doors before you set the fire, or the rats will run off and chew away at the foundations of everything else nearby.

The sad thing is though is that it was all intended and they literally do not care about any other market but the Asian one. Which if you really want to be specific the market in China. Where the culture is extremely easy to addict to gambling and they are still so new to money that they are very keen to show it off. So they see options like this as akin to showing off an expensive car. Thus the issue is compounded to hell.

I honestly am not even mad at Blizzard for this. They are a company and there job is to make money and this makes them a lot of money. I more blame the people who keep playing these games while dropping hundreds if not thousands of dollars on it.
